Chapter 1287: Nicole, I Love You
"Turns out that no matter how time wears it down, the strokes carved in the heart remain, unerasable."
"Maybe it’s because the hatred runs too deep that I’ll never be able to forget Nicole in this lifetime. Jorge, others don’t understand me, but you should. You are the last person who should advise me to give up because you know how hard it is to regain something once lost."
"It’s not that I want Nicole back. It’s just that, as you know, I never allow anyone else to touch what I’ve had. Nicole was my woman for a few years, and if Steven Cooper wants to sleep with her, it’s only over my dead body!"
Jorge Saxton stood against the light, his silhouette somewhat forlorn. Thinking of his stagnation with Lydia Brooke, he truly felt like he and Jose were brothers in adversity!
They stood hand in hand in their youth, two boys in a foreign land unfamiliar to them, bravely facing countless life-and-death situations, finally carving out their place in the world. Yet, they still couldn’t win the women they loved. It’s just so damn frustrating!
"Jose, is it truly because of hatred that you can’t let go of Nicole? Don’t you feel that the words you spoke as you reached out to Nicole at the entrance of the Imperial Garden Hotel, ’Nicole, come with me,’ should have turned into ’Nicole, I love you’?"
Jose Floyd’s gaze shifted instantly, dark and profound. He lowered his eyes, looking at the Small Purple Leaf Sandalwood bracelet on his left wrist, his voice low and deep: "Jorge, do you think I’m in love with that heartless woman who only wishes for my death?"
"What do you think?" Jorge Saxton didn’t answer but questioned in return.
"No—I’m just unwilling to let other men take and enjoy what isn’t theirs. Love, I’ve never had it, and I definitely don’t have it for Nicole." Jose Floyd pressed his lips together, his voice sharp and cold.
Jorge Saxton didn’t argue, merely cast a nonchalant glance at Jose Floyd and replied, "Right, you don’t love Nicole, just like I don’t with Lydia. You just can’t let go. Jose, you’ve never loved Nicole... You ended up like this to stop her from getting engaged. You truly don’t have any love for Nicole at all. Who are you? You’re Jose Floyd, the cold, unyielding, and domineering Young Master Floyd! No amount of gunfire could take you down, yet after Nicole scoffed at you, you collapsed at the entrance of the Imperial Garden Hotel. So, considering all this, Jose, you are still the iron-hearted Young Master Floyd, never having had a trace of affection for Nicole."
Jorge Saxton wore a serious look, as serious as could be. Inwardly, he fully scorned his good friend.
Seriously, going to the hospital over Nicole, yet still insisting you haven’t fallen for her?!
Brother, being so contrary, is it any wonder people look down on you?!
Forget it, people - difficult - not -to - expose, what can he say to such an emotionally clueless friend? If he says he doesn’t love her, then he doesn’t love her, right? Sometimes people can’t deceive everyone, only themselves. Jose is a living example!
"..."
Jose Floyd gave a chilly glance full of implications at Jorge Saxton, then turned his gaze to Camden, his voice even colder: "In two days, notify the people in Italy. If within two days they don’t find out the truth about Wade’s death, they’ll bear the consequences themselves!"
"Yes, Young Master!" Camden nodded.
-
These past two days, Jose Floyd lay in the hospital ward, thinking about many things, all about the past five years, the way she sweetly called him ’Jose,’ remembering their first hand-holding, their first kiss, the first time they made love on her eighteenth birthday.
Her smile, as enchanting as spring blossoms, brightened his entire world.
Indeed, he was always cold by nature. But from the moment she appeared by his side, the curve of his smile became more frequent every day, and it was all just for her alone...
