Chapter 1288: Thinking About a Man!
Reflecting on so much, Jose Floyd finally became deeply aware that he would never let go of Nicole in this lifetime.
In the past, whenever he was hurt, she would always bandage him, her movements gentle, brows furrowed, the worry in her eyes so obvious. But now, he lay in the hospital receiving treatment, and she hadn’t even come to see him...
Life is sometimes just about some unreasonable person bursting into your sight without any warning, leaving you unforgettable for life.
And the girl who introduced herself as ’Nicole’ initially crashed into his vision like this, stirring his indifferent and lonely heart into chaos, then ruthlessly stabbed him and turned away.
Nicole, I’m not dead. As long as I have breath left, I won’t let go. The hand I’ve held, the you I’ve slept next to, others can dream of touching!
-
These past two days, Nicole often found herself distracted, with scenes of Jose Floyd collapsing constantly flashing through her mind.
That indomitable man, fallen in her sight, his head full of blood, staining her entire view, made her anxious and scared.
During the weekend, Arlo Seys was also at home, not at Era, sitting with Ariel Morris in the living room, drinking tea and chatting leisurely with the two little ones by their side, a happy and warm family.
Nicole offered to make tea for them, and Ariel Morris smiled and nodded.
The tea had been brewing for so long that it spilled out—
"Aunt, all your tea has spilled!" Ryan Seys called out.
Iris Seys giggled, with a sweet and soft voice, "Aunt is so silly! Can’t even make tea!"
The voices of the two children drew Arlo Seys and Ariel Morris’s gaze simultaneously towards Nicole, who snapped out of her thoughts, immediately pulling out tissues from the coffee table to wipe the water off the table.
Quite a lot of tea had spilled, and Nicole’s wiping seemed flustered and haphazard.
"Aunt, what were you lost in thought about?" Iris Seys leaned closer to ask.
Nicole was stunned for a moment, then shook her head with a light laugh.
Ryan Seys sneered, his voice lazy, "Thinking about a man!"
"...Ryan, if you’re that awesome, why don’t you fly to the sky?" Nicole slapped Ryan on the back of the head, "You little ingrate, I’ve saved you in the Restricted District, and this is how you tease your aunt."
Ryan’s lips curled up, "So Aunt is thinking about something from the Restricted District, wanting to save our Uncle Floyd?"
The chatting Arlo Seys and Ariel Morris turned their gaze to Nicole, silent and speechless.
Nicole felt cornered by the gaze of the four, her complexion somewhat unnatural. She threw the tissue into the bin and got up, "The tea’s brewed, you all enjoy and chat slowly; I, a solitary person, won’t be a third wheel."
Nicole’s silhouette quickly disappeared at the corridor entrance.
Ariel Morris turned her head, looking at Arlo Seys with bright eyes, "Are you sure your sister isn’t just trying to cover up?"
"..."
Ariel Morris stood up, patting Arlo Seys on the shoulder, "Just wait, Arlo, I’m going to meddle a bit; you just remain silent, don’t say anything, and act as if you’re oblivious to the outside world!"
"What are you planning to do?" Arlo Seys looked at Ariel Morris with a sly smile, his voice deep.
"As the elder sister-in-law, I should provide some opportunities for Nicole to see her heart clearly. Life is long. If one cannot marry the person they love, what meaning does the latter half of life have? It’s just about letting Nicole realize who she truly loves."
"Don’t make things more complicated," Arlo Seys said with certainty.
Based on his understanding of his wife, her emotional intelligence is not up to par, so can she really help others?
"Finley Sutherland is hospitalized with pneumonia due to coughing, and Daisy’s parents are not around, leaving no one besides caregivers to lend a hand. Brother Dawn’s work is very busy, running between home and the hospital is cumbersome. I, with two kids, can’t manage it either, so I’ll have Nicole go help out and take care of Finley."
