Chapter 1282: Nicole, Come With Me!
His fingertips were visibly trembling, even his body was swaying; it was obvious he was forcing himself to the limit.
Nicole bit her lip, looking at the man standing in front of her. When they first met, this man had also reached out his hand to her like this, held it out to her, and she had placed her hand in his. Then he took her back to the Manor Estate, gave her five years of tenderness, unrestrained pampering.
And now, he was another woman’s fiancé, the biological father of the child in another woman’s belly, yet he had come to her engagement party, reaching his hand out to her...
Nicole stared blankly at Jose Floyd, not reacting, her mind in utter chaos.
Seeing that she didn’t respond, Jose Floyd’s fingertips moved slightly, his gaze on Nicole’s eyes turning icily sharp. "Nicole, come with me!"
His woman—just seeing her stand next to Steven Cooper was an eyesore that made him unbearably uncomfortable!
Blood slid down his cheek one drop at a time, his body swaying more and more, as if he might lose his strength and collapse at any second. All color had drained from his face, pale as snow, his thin, chiseled lips tightly pressed and trembling.
Nicole lifted her leg and moved her steps.
Everyone watched her, holding their breath as they waited to see what choice she would make.
In Jose Floyd’s cold eyes, her picturesque silhouette was reflected. Seeing her in that gown, every perfect curve of her figure outlined to the extreme, high heels clicking as she walked toward him, a woman whose every move was elegant and imposing, his gaze grew darker and deeper.
She walked toward him, and inside he was rejoicing, only pretending indifference on his face to cover himself.
Left behind by Nicole, Steven Cooper watched her walk toward Jose Floyd, bitterness welling up in his heart.
What could he do? He had met her later; he could never surpass the place Jose Floyd held in her heart.
She’d said she would risk her life to forget the past. Heh. If you have to risk your life to forget something, that actually proves just how searingly unforgettable that past was, that you need to fight for your life to erase it.
Nicole drew close to Jose Floyd, and when his fingertips reached out a little further toward her, Nicole didn’t even shift her gaze in his direction. She lifted her leg, brushed past Jose Floyd’s body, and headed for the car behind him, her voice light: "Bro, Ariel, aren’t you going back? It’s already very late. Brother Cooper, you should go back to the Cooper Family too. I want to buy some things tomorrow; if you’re free, will you come with me?"
Steven Cooper froze for a moment. Hearing Nicole’s words, his gaze immediately fell on her. He saw that Nicole had already opened the car door and sat in the back seat of Arlo Seys’s car. Meeting his eyes, Nicole gave a faint smile and repeated what she’d just said, her voice gentle: "If you’re free tomorrow, come with me to buy some things. My car’s tire is busted; I can’t drive it."
Her smile and her repeated words proved he hadn’t misheard. Snapping back to himself, Steven Cooper immediately nodded toward Nicole, a smile at the corner of his lips, his voice warm: "Okay, no problem."
Their conversation went on as if no one else existed, their voices as gentle as water.
Even the carefree Nico Haynes couldn’t help shifting his gaze to Jose Floyd, whose hand was still outstretched, feeling an overwhelming secondhand embarrassment and pity.
Jose Floyd pressed his lips together tightly, his trembling fingers withdrawing. "Nicole!" he barked coldly, turning around.
He had reached out to her, told her "come with me," and she hadn’t even deigned to spare him a glance, just tried to leave?
Nicole’s cool gaze swept over Jose Floyd’s trembling body, her voice light and airy: "Mr. Floyd, you have a fiancée, and I have a fiancé. Considering the entanglements between us in the past, it’s better if you keep your distance and call me Miss Seys or Mrs. Cooper. After all, I have no desire to have any new rumors with Mr. Floyd and have your fiancée come looking for trouble again....."
