Chapter 1333: I Don’t Mind
Stuart Floyd said, "Nicole is your god-sister. What else are you going to call her man if not ’brother’? From now on, when you call him, just call him ’brother’. We’re all family here, don’t be so distant."
Joshua Floyd almost jumped up. "Nicole and I are classmates. She’s younger than me. Why should I call her ’sister’? At most she’s a younger sister! Her man at best I’d call ’brother-in-law’. Why would I call him ’brother’?"
Making him call a younger classmate "sister," has anyone considered how he feels? Unbelievable!
Did his dad have something wrong with his brain, making him call Jose Floyd ’brother’ and Nicole ’sister’?
He refused, okay!
Her man—
When Nicole heard that, she glanced sideways in a bit of a panic at the man behind her, only to see his expression calm and indifferent, yet somehow much gentler than his usual coldness. She really had no idea how to properly and solemnly explain her relationship with Jose Floyd.
Nicole turned her head slightly and spoke softly to the aloof Jose Floyd. "Aren’t you going to say something?"
"Say what?" Jose’s face was as calm as a clear sky.
"...That you have a fiancée, that you’re not my boy—"
"You’re the one speaking up to deny it. What does that have to do with me?" Jose brushed past Nicole as he went downstairs, heading for the dining table.
Nicole bit her lip and followed Jose downstairs.
When had she not denied it? She didn’t even know how many times she’d denied it already, and she’d introduced Jose as her "ex-boyfriend" right from the start. But somehow Stuart Floyd and Celine Sutton both treated Jose as her boyfriend. No, to be precise—her man!!
The few of them sat around the dining table having breakfast.
Nicole had stayed here for a while. Celine knew her tastes, but not Jose’s. She handed a glass of fruit-and-vegetable juice to Jose.
Nicole was in the middle of eating a sandwich when she saw Celine pass the juice to Jose and saw that he didn’t take it. Worried Celine would feel awkward, she quickly reached out to intercept the glass halfway and took it with a light smile. "He probably doesn’t like mixed veggie-and-fruit juice. He prefers pure fruit juice. But it just so happens I like this kind of juice. Thank you, godmom."
Celine sat down smiling. "You still know him best. Is it okay if I call you Jose like Nicole does? You’re Nicole’s boyfriend; using your full name feels too formal. From now on, if Jose likes something or doesn’t like something, I’ll have to ask Nicole more."
When the usually cold Jose met Celine’s genuinely warm smile, for once he didn’t keep a frosty face. He simply gave a slight nod in agreement.
Nicole was too exhausted to keep explaining away the "boyfriend" label the Floyd Family had collectively slapped on Jose. She just shut her mouth, lifted the fruit-and-vegetable juice, and took a sip.
Her hand had barely set the glass back on the table when a long, slender hand took the juice from her and lifted it to his own lips.
Nicole stared at Jose in shock, momentarily at a loss for words.
Jose took a sip of the juice, then gave Celine a slight nod, his voice flat. "Not bad. Better than most."
Being complimented put Celine in a naturally good mood. She laughed. "If you like it, drink more. Fruit-and-vegetable juice is very nutritious. This is to boost Nicole’s nutrition and regulate her body."
Jose gave a soft "mm." "Then I’ll trouble you with her. This juice tastes pretty good. If she likes it, I’ll have to trouble you to make it for her. No need to worry about me. Whatever she eats, I’ll eat. I’m not very picky."
Nicole, sandwich between her teeth, stared at the calmly speaking Jose, forced down the bread stuck in her throat, and reminded him, "The glass you’re holding is the one I was drinking from..."
Jose glanced at the cup in his hand. "I don’t mind."
With that, he lifted the fruit-and-vegetable juice to his lips again...
