Maou Reijou no Kyouiku Gakari

Episode 39: True Heroes

"Father's... truth...?

"Oh, yeah. You wanted to know that, didn't you?

"No, that's right... how could you do that..."

An event that is treated as fact in the human sphere that my father tried to threaten humanity.

I thought it was a fiction made up by them, and I lived to reveal the truth.

That is why I naturally want to know the truth.

But it's too sudden, and unexpected, for that to be spoken out of this man's mouth.

"Why, that's you... Right...... There's a lot of talk going on between humans right now, but it's bullshit.

"So, it's not bullshit...?

"That's right. It's an indisputable fact that my father and I worked hand in hand."

"The truth is... then my father really put his hands together with you and mankind..."

It feels like the place you're standing right now is making a noise and breaking down.

Except for the upset, my vision shakes.

I don't even know if I stand firm right now.

"Oh, come on, it's not sooner."

"Ray, calm down...... listen to me. Tell me about your father..."

Nal, who was next door, said so in a whispering little voice.

"Nal......"

So I finally realized that she was about to collapse to support my body.

"He's right. Just shut up and listen to me. First my father and I met... yes, it was just in this room."

The Demon King began to speak with a sad expression that overlooked where I was, but contained a vision of someone nostalgic who was not me.

"At first, I was afraid many of them had broken into the castle. He came all the way out here by himself, beating down all of our guards without his people."

"My father is here alone...?

"Oh, yeah. Back then, I thought there was another idiot. The guy who came to sell me fights has been around a mountain before, but he was the first and last idiot to get in here by himself..."

The demon king laughs a little soggy, different from previous things on that face.

And from that mouth on, there's one more story about my father that I didn't know about.

This quick-fighting demon king naturally tried to fight his father, who had come this far by himself without his companions.

But by contrast, without even pulling out his sword, his father let go, knowing this man as the Demon King, just wanting to have a discussion.

But then the Demon King naturally never took such a sudden offer properly, and the two ended up in a long death fight.

A demon king who fought to death but does not try to deal with anything against his father, who has told him time and again that he wants to discuss it.

Ultimately, no settlement was reached, and the battle was to end in a draw.

But his father never gave up, and the next month he visited the place again, saying that he needed to speak to the Demon King without any sexual punishment.

And they fought, drew, fought, drew, and repeated such barren exchanges over and over again -

"No matter how much I do, I won't punish you, and I'm here again. That bastard..."

"Ha ha... that sounds like a father..."

You remember that time, when the demon king caught me laughing so I could laugh and I laugh without thinking.

My father, who is in my memory, once decided to do so, was the one who would do it until he accomplished it.

That's why I found out that the father in the memory of the man in front of me and the father in my memory were definitely the same person.

"For the first time in my life, I thought you'd give me a break..."

"You decided to listen to your father, losing that patience comparison...?

"Well, here's the thing. But... the story he brought with him was more ridiculous than that fight..."

"Ridiculous story?

"Oh, the first time I heard it, I didn't even have ears to trump and listen to it as ridiculous. But when I say that bastard, no matter how hard I say no over and over again... keep your head down every time you get here all by yourself... you and I will be able to do it..."

"So... what the hell was that all about?

It is the content of that story that cuts deeper into my father's truth, judging that there is its core.

If the answer is yes, everything so far could be in vain.

But still, without asking, I couldn't help but reveal.

"Peace."

"Wah... heh...?

For a moment, I don't understand what that means, and only words are empty in my head.

"That's right. It's peace between us demons and humans."

Again, the word is clearly uttered from the mouth of the Demon King.

And now I can firmly understand the meaning of that short word.

"Well... my father didn't put his hands together with you and betray mankind..."

"The opposite is true. My father is a human being... no, for the sake of the world to come... for hundreds of years... we have come to an end to a war that lasts more than thousands of years. In the most peaceful way."

"To end the war..."

That action and philosophy that the Demon King made his father true.

At this point, there is no certainty that it is true.

But the story was more consistent with what my father looked like in my memory than any other story I'd ever heard in the human world.

That was just enough to make me decide that this story was the truth.

"You know that ending a war that's lasted thousands of years isn't even a word you can say when you're ready to live?

"Oh, of course..."

Now the dispute between mankind and the devil tribe is natural to be there.

If peace were to prevail, first of all, those who were engaged in military relations and fighting demonic tribes would undoubtedly be reduced in size.

In that case, there will be a large number of people who will lose their jobs, which will not only affect industry and the economy, but will also cause the rash to become rogues and disturb security and have a significant impact on the trade-offs between power relations within and outside the country.

Just thinking about it, there are a lot of people whose peace is to their detriment.

It is good to say that those people, mainly aristocrats, cannot shake their heads vertically against the suggestion of peace with the Demons.

It is a sorrow for mankind that the dispute with the Demons will end, but it is not envisaged at all that it will be brought about in the most peaceful way.

"Still, that bastard said, 'I'll take care of the persuasion of mankind. I'll make sure you do it'..."

"So you tell the story...?

"Oh... my dad is so persistent, I'm finally broken too. Totally... now I'm thinking, what was wrong with me then? How dare you... I can't believe you took on such a terrible thing. I held my head because of how I persuaded the old people to destroy humanity and hegemony the world over."

The Demon King puts a soft look on his face that makes him feel nostalgic about that time.

"... but. Every time I come over here, this time, it's like this... I don't know what it's like to watch him talk about his accomplishments as a delight... but I don't feel like losing either... Besides, if you come with him..."

More stories of my father I didn't know spin out of his mouth.

Every time a new story is spun, more and more unnameable emotions creep up inside my chest.

"- Sometimes it feels like the sun is going to go down when we talk more."

Slightly, the Demon King stops talking as he seems to regret it.

"Oh, I've had enough. What I wanted to ask... what I wanted to know."

It would be a lie to say you don't have the desire to hear a little more, but at this rate the sun could really go down.

It is clear from the narrative that there are so many memories between the Demon King and his father.

You just have to ask again when it's all over.

"Right. Well, anyway... that's it... I mean..."

The demon king looks illuminated and says as his black hair scratches his cluttered head.

And I slowly opened my mouth after a big cough.

"My father is the real hero..."

"My father... a hero..."

When I hear that word, the emotions that have crept up begin to overflow from my eyes.
