Every broken piece of Dron’s soul came together in the very second he collided with Tempest.

He’d never felt a love like this. A relief so great it literally healed him from the inside out.

There was no more pain. No more thinking. Nothing besides Tempest.

"Dron, oh my love." Tempest sobbed as she held him tightly.

"I’m here. No more tears, my temptation, I’m here." Dron whispered as he held her just as tightly.

It was so quiet.

Dron didn’t know if that was because everyone had just stopped talking or because he couldn’t hear anything besides Tempest.

It didn’t matter. All that mattered to Dron was that he’d found his mate.

Tempest lifted her face, lips searching for his.

Dron quickly angled his head so she could get her prize. She fought hard to get to him. He would have something to say about that later. Much, much later.

Their lips pressed together and it felt as if the sun had somehow come out in the middle of the night. Warmth coursed through his body and his hands quickly clutched at her. Her tongue snaked into his mouth and he accepted it. He flicked his tongue out to get into hers. He wanted to taste every inch of her. Wanted more than what she was giving him. It was as if he had to get closer to her just to make sure that she was real.

She pulled away to breathe and he growled loud. He wasn’t finished.

He grabbed hold of her hair and held her in the correct position. She clawed at his arms and he could feel both his primary and secondary cocks becoming engorged.

She pulled away again, "Dron, take me somewhere. Now. Please." She begged.

It was only then that he realized that they weren’t alone. He was surrounded by people that were ready to go to battle for him. It was a tense standoff, but instead of Dron worrying about who the enemy was he was too concerned with Tempest.

It was a bad look, but he didn’t care.

"Soon, believe me. I’m going to be locked in a room with you for the foreseeable future. We have to deal with this." Dron tilted his head to the crowd.

Tempest pouted, "Way to ruin the fun."

Dron laughed and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

He looked out into the crowd, trying to gauge the temperature of the men around him. He figured they would be mad. Dron would have been pissed if he were dragged halfway around the land just to watch two people kiss.

Instead of everyone being upset as he would have thought them to be, Dron could see the wonder on all of their faces. No one in the group had ever seen a fated mate pairing before, no one had ever seen a couple of both an Ustean and a human so clearly in love; no one had seen two people kiss before. It was all new to them.

"I can’t leave you alone for even a minute." Mexyn walked up and spoke to Tempest.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to become all this." Tempest tried to let go of Dron but he held one of her hands tightly. They’d been separated for too long, there was no way that he was going to let her go.

"I know you didn’t. What happened in there? Where is your wrist device?" Mexyn started in on the questions but Dron was now focused on the group standing just inside the gates.

They were all dressed, ready to fight, but Dron could tell that there wasn’t a true threat in all of them. None except Rynax, who seemed to be in poor spirits, and another alpha Dron had never met. That must be Aliq.

He’d have to thank both of them for keeping Tempest safe.

"We should get inside." Dron started to move toward the gate.

"Wait!" Tempest pulled him back.

"Why?" Dron couldn’t see the problem.

"You can’t come in, at least not yet." Tempest chewed on her bottom lip. She was nervous.

Dron narrowed his eyes at her.

"They don’t trust you. None of the alphas. They’ve had some seriously bad experiences with your kind. If you just walk in they are going to attack you. They’ll lose. We don’t need that kind of death on our hands. Please." Tempest looked up at him in earnest.

She didn’t have to.

It wasn’t like there was anything Dron would deny her at the moment. She could ask him to castrate himself right now, and if it meant she would stay right here, he would do it.

Dron could understand the hesitation. It wasn’t like the group of them walked up to the human settlement with flowers in hand.

"Who do I need to speak with?" Dron asked.

Mexyn stepped forward, Crilium directly behind her.

"Maybe I should be the one to talk to them?"

Tempest shook her head, "No, there will be a time for that, but right now they have to be sure that they aren’t in danger."

Dron sighed and picked up Tempest’s hand, he kissed her knuckles. "They could never be in danger from me. They may have gone about it the wrong way, but you were safe here."

"I was. They are a little misguided, but I think both groups can help each other." Tempest nodded and rubbed her hand up his arm.

"What is wrong with your skin?"

The question was so out of place that Dron took a few seconds to figure out where it came from. He looked down only to see Mikael looking up at him.

The young kids face a mask of confusion.

Dron looked down at his skin, and he could see the markings on his arm, slowly but clearly moving around, like wisps of smoke in the wind.

"I don’t...I’m not sure." Dron didn’t know what was going on with him. He had never seen anything like this happen to him before.

"Oh, I think that happens because we’re close together. Usually..." Tempest leaned closer to Dron and whispered, "When we’re naked." She giggled lightly.

"It’s the fated mate bond. It’s healing you..." Gerax pushed through the crowd and grabbed hold of Dron’s arm, getting so close it looked as if he were about to kiss Dron’s skin. "Do you feel stronger? More envigorated."

Dron tightened his grip on Tempest, "Without a doubt."

"I need to take samples. Need to—" Gerax stopped talking and pressed down hard on Dron’s skin. It didn’t hurt, but it was annoying.

Dron focused on what Gerax was doing to him, and he nearly passed out when he saw what Gerax was staring at so intently.

For the briefest second, in the very place where Gerax had been pressing, the pigment of the dark markings that went up his arm changed. Instead of the dark grey and black, the markings presented as an ivory marble coloring.

Gerax looked up at him, all the color draining out of his face.

Dron knew what it looked like, and knew what it could mean.

"Not a word." He growled at Gerax.

The beta male nodded, his mouth still open in shock.

"What’s going on?" Tempest questioned.

"Nothing. Everything is fine now. Perfect." He gathered her hand again. "Come, let’s go broker a peace treaty." He smiled down at her.

Tempest smiled back at him. "Thank you."

"Don’t thank me yet, we still have to get them to believe us."

"We will. We need them if we’re going to prove to everyone what this world is really about. We have no choice." Tempest looked forward, her eyes set and determined.

Dron knew that look all too well, though he hadn’t seen it in a while. His wife was getting ready to take over the world, and he would be with her every step of the way.
