Chapter 246: Mind Your Own Business
Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton and said, "Are you serious?"
"If you don’t agree, I’m not going."
"Fine, I agree," Nathan Fawcett said. "As long as you’re not willing, I won’t touch you."
"..." Listening to him, Anne Sutton felt that something was off, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Nathan Fawcett said, "Any other conditions? You might as well state them all at once. It’ll save you from feeling I’ve been unfair to you later."
Anne Sutton said, "If I want to leave in the future, you can’t stop me! I want to be able to leave at any time. You can go your whole life without a wife, but I can’t! What if I meet my soulmate someday? I have to be able to pursue my own happiness! I’ve had enough of these past few years, living like a widow in the Fawcett Family for your sake."
The corner of Nathan Fawcett’s mouth twitched. "Only you would be thinking about other men while you’re with me."
"Tsk." Hearing his words, Anne Sutton just scoffed. "Don’t tell me you’re still so out of touch with reality that you think you’re some great catch everyone has to fawn over! If your mother could have found anyone else to marry you, she wouldn’t have come to me!"
’It was precisely because no one was willing to be set up with Nathan Fawcett, because everyone rejected him, that Anna Linden had to compromise and come find me.’
Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton, his face darkening at how this woman gave him no face at all. But right now, for Ian’s sake, he said nothing more in order to get her to come back.
Nathan Fawcett said, "Alright then! We’ll just get your things and go straight over. Is that okay with you?"
Anne Sutton looked at him, but before she could say anything more, Nathan Fawcett said, as if to himself, "Ian will definitely be very happy when he finds out."
When Anne Sutton heard him mention their son, the thought of Ian instantly soothed her ruffled feathers.
Nathan Fawcett went outside to get Ian, and a moment later, he returned carrying him.
The moment Ian entered, he ran up to Anne Sutton and said, "Mommy, did you really agree to marry my daddy?"
"..." Anne Sutton was speechless.
She looked at Ian. ’What a thing for this little guy to ask.’ She was only going back with Nathan Fawcett temporarily. How did that turn into marrying his dad?
Anne Sutton shot a look at Nathan Fawcett, who explained, "Your mommy has agreed to come home with us."
"That’s great!" Ian clapped his hands excitedly. "Mommy, if you can live with me from now on, I’ll be so happy! Now no one will dare say I’m a kid without a mom."
Anne Sutton looked at Ian. Though she had been somewhat hesitant before, seeing the look on the little guy’s face now filled her with an immense sense of relief.
’As long as Ian is happy, what does it matter if I go to the Linden Family with Nathan Fawcett?’
The housekeeper, who was standing to the side, was also quite happy to hear that Anne Sutton was going to the Linden Family. "I’ll go pack your things for you, Madam."
Anne Sutton didn’t have many belongings to begin with; she hadn’t been living here for long.
After everything was packed, Nathan Fawcett and the housekeeper carried her things downstairs.
’Nathan Fawcett was the type who usually wouldn’t even lift a finger, but now that he knew she was coming back, he was being incredibly attentive.’
After all, bringing Anne Sutton back was a promise he’d made to Ian.
He was quite happy now that he had finally achieved his goal.
Ian followed behind, holding Anne Sutton’s hand. He was so young, and it should have been Anne taking care of him, but the little guy was fussing over her the whole way. He didn’t even forget to tell Anne as they went down the stairs, "Mommy, be careful."
Anne Sutton looked at Ian and asked, "You like your mommy that much?"
Ian nodded. "My mommy is a fairy. Of course I like her!"
He was incredibly proud whenever he talked about Anne Sutton.
’People’s fates are truly strange,’ Anne Sutton thought.
Back when she had approached Nathan Fawcett, asking to marry into the Fawcett Family in Sharon’s place, she never would have imagined that one day, she would feel the greatest gift wasn’t all the Fawcett Family’s wealth, but the child right in front of her.
As a doctor, she saw so many miscarried children, but that was just a part of her job. It had nothing to do with her personal life.
But after having Ian, everything seemed to be different!
The Linden Family’s car was parked on the roadside. Nathan Fawcett stood waiting for them. Seeing that Anne Sutton and Ian were walking slowly, he didn’t rush them, just waited patiently for them to approach.
"Daddy, is everything ready?" Ian quickly ran up to Nathan Fawcett.
Nathan Fawcett was very tall, and Ian was just a little guy. Next to the long-limbed Nathan Fawcett, he seemed even smaller.
But he carried himself with a maturity beyond his years. "Mommy, hurry and get in the car."
The last time Anne Sutton had sent Ian and Nathan Fawcett off, she had brought them to this very spot.
Back then, she could only watch as Ian left with Nathan Fawcett, not knowing when he would return to her side.
She never expected that now, she would actually be able to move in and live with Ian.
The car had just stopped at the Linden Residence when the butler walked over and personally opened the door.
Seeing Nathan Fawcett, the butler said politely, "Sir, has Ms. Sutton arrived?"
Nathan Fawcett glanced at Anne Sutton and Ian sitting in the back, reached out to open their door, and said, "Time to get out."
The Linden Residence at night, illuminated by lights, looked just like a castle from a fairy tale.
Nathan Fawcett lifted Ian out of the car, but the boy eagerly asked to be put down so he could help Anne Sutton out himself.
He was so little, yet his every move was like that of a little prince.
It was clear he was very happy that Anne Sutton had come back with them.
Anne Sutton could also feel her son’s excitement.
When the butler saw Anne Sutton, he said, "Ms. Sutton."
’He used to call me Madam whenever he saw me!’
But Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton were already divorced.
So he had changed his form of address now.
Anne Sutton glanced at him and said, "Yes."
The butler said, "Young Master Ian couldn’t be happier that you were willing to come!"
Anne Sutton glanced at Ian and said, "As long as Ian is happy."
’If it weren’t for Ian, I wouldn’t have come at all!’
"It’s a bit cold outside. Please, hurry inside," the butler said, leading them through the door.
Stella Shields was also there today.
She had just returned from a public appearance.
To Stella Shields, this place was like a second home.
When she saw Nathan Fawcett walk in with Ian and Anne Sutton, she froze for a moment, then asked, "Anne Sutton, what are you doing here?"
Ian proudly announced, "My mommy is going to live here from now on."
"What did you say?" Stella Shields didn’t believe Ian and glanced at Nathan Fawcett. But he didn’t answer her, simply saying to the butler, "Have someone take Ms. Sutton’s things to her room."
His words confirmed that Ian wasn’t making things up.
Stella Shields immediately shot to her feet.
She walked up to Nathan Fawcett and said, "Ethan, you’re letting Anne Sutton move in?"
Nathan Fawcett looked at her and said, "This doesn’t concern you. Stay out of things that are none of your business!"
