Up on the mountain peak, Su Liyan saw that Lu Yuan had already flown down with the help of the Gongyue Monarch. Since she lacked any flying skills herself, she could only leap down the mountain path. Covering twenty to thirty meters in a single bound was no problem for her.

Soaring through the air, Lu Yuan flipped his palm, conjuring an azure flame that lit up the dark, starry sky. He looked like a Great Immortal.

The Soaring Snake on the water’s surface noticed him and let out a piercing hiss, its cry carrying an oppressive aura that bore down on Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan held both hands above his head and muttered to himself, ’Little snake, your granddaddy here has been dealing with snakes his whole life. It’s not that I’m afraid of you, I just don’t have the time right now. I’ll take care of you in a bit!’

Weaving through the dense forest, Su Liyan felt her ears itching. She gave one of her upright ears a pinch and muttered, "Who’s talking about me behind my back?"

Lu Yuan ignored the Soaring Snake’s oppressive aura. Chanting a spell, the azure flame in his hands swelled, its light intensifying until it blazed like a glorious sun, illuminating the entire island.

On the mainland, several nautical miles from Elephant Island, a little farm child with a runny nose leaned against a windowsill. Pointing toward the island, he babbled, "Mama, Mama, come quick! Someone’s setting off huge fireworks over there!"

Lu Yuan roared, "Go!"

The ball of azure flame hurtled toward Gu Gaoxu’s position!

Gu Gaoxu saw it coming and immediately bolted, yelling, "Brother Lu, if you’re just jealous of my Martial Arts and want me dead, you didn’t have to go to all this trouble!"

Gu Gaoxu hauled a general under each arm as he weaved between the Thunder Bears. He’d had no time to warn them; he simply snatched them up and ran.

The Thunder Bears threw their heads back and roared, completely unfazed by Lu Yuan’s flame.

Fire was a mere element. Why would these Thunder Bears fear it? Besides, the endless sea was just a short distance away.

The massive azure fireball exploded in the sky, breaking apart into countless smaller fireballs that rained down below.

The area where the Thunder Bears stood was instantly engulfed in a sea of fire, with flames leaping toward the heavens.

Everyone on the battlefield stopped in their tracks, staring at the inferno before them.

The Thunder Bears thrashed in the inferno, but nothing they did could extinguish the flames consuming them. It was as if they had been doused in kerosene. After a few minutes, they collapsed to the ground, motionless.

On the island, the Little Easterners and the rebels were frozen in place, unsure whether to advance or retreat.

On the decks of the large ships at sea, the Spirit Capturing Devices in the hands of the Spirit Binders all began to flash red. This meant that the Da Xingzi they had raised were all annihilated.

One Spirit Binder at the bow of his ship burst into tears. "Aah! My precious darlings! How could you just die like that? How am I supposed to go on?"

An Easterner commander kicked the blubbering Spirit Binder into the sea, drew his wakizashi, and roared, "Full speed ahead!"

As Lu Yuan descended, he leaped from a short distance above the ground to land beside Gu Gaoxu. He clapped him on the shoulder. "Still alive?"

Once on the ground, the Gongyue Monarch returned to Lu Yuan’s Top Grade Spirit Capturing Device.

Any gratitude Gu Gaoxu might have felt was instantly extinguished by the merciless inferno. He shot Lu Yuan a glare and said, "A few seconds later, and I’d have been the one thrashing around in that sea of fire."

Lu Yuan laughed heartily. "Nah, it wouldn’t have come to that. I had faith you’d make it out."

Gu Gaoxu dusted himself off. "Well, Brother Lu certainly is a good judge of character. I did indeed have the skill to escape the blast radius."

"So what’s that move of yours called? Can you teach me?" Gu Gaoxu asked with a wide grin.

Lu Yuan gave Gu Gaoxu a shove. "Hey, don’t get so close, you’re gonna get drool all over me. You can’t learn this move, but how about you try some wild game instead?"

"Wild game? What wild game? Now that you mention it, Brother Lu, I do smell something delicious!" Gu Gaoxu wrinkled his nose, sniffing the air in all directions.

Lu Yuan extended his right hand, recalling the Celestial Master Sword that was embedded in the ground. He then walked toward the heart of the flames.

Gu Gaoxu remained where he was and tried to stop him. "Brother Lu, don’t go in there! You’ll get burned!"

Wielding the Celestial Master Sword, Lu Yuan walked forward. The burning flames parted, creating a path for him. SHUA! SHUA! In two swift motions, his sword rose and fell, severing the front paws from two of the Thunder Bears.

Lu Yuan tossed the bear paws out of the fire, and Gu Gaoxu took off his jacket to catch them one by one.

He then tossed out a dozen more, which Gu Gaoxu had his soldiers catch with their own cloth jackets.

Lu Yuan retracted the azure flames and walked over to Gu Gaoxu’s side. He produced some seasonings from out of nowhere, sprinkled them on the paws, and tossed the rest to the soldiers. "Have a taste. How is it?"

Gu Gaoxu took a huge bite, his mouth instantly filling with juicy grease. He nodded as he chewed. "Brother Lu, this is ridiculously good! You have to try some! Everyone, dig in!"

The soldiers began scrambling for the perfectly roasted bear paws, all of them taking huge, ravenous bites.

Lying on the ground, Gu Zhaolian watched them all eat with relish. The savory aroma of roasted meat wafted straight into his nostrils, so strong it almost made his head spin.

Gu Zhaolian licked his lower lip and smacked them together. His mouth filled with saliva, and he couldn’t help but gulp a few times.

A nearby soldier kicked Gu Zhaolian in the stomach. "Stay still!" he threatened. "Keep squirming and I’ll kick you to death!"

The soldier clearly had no respect for Gu Zhaolian, the Sixth Son of King Lu.

Su Liyan came to Lu Yuan’s side and gave him a stealthy pinch. Smiling at him, she sent a telepathic message, ’So, *you* got to fly down here, while I had to run all the way through the forest.’

Lu Yuan held a bear paw up to Su Liyan with a placating grin. "How about a bite, wifey?"

Su Liyan pinched her nose in refusal. "No, I’m not eating that. It’s too greasy!"

"It’s good stuff. You don’t know what you’re missing!" Lu Yuan tore off a mouthful of bear meat and stuffed it into his mouth.
