"Your way can’t solve everything either." The voice resurfaced.
"But it is better than brute force." Norman reasoned.
"Is it really? Can you get Oscorp back with your way then?" The voice scoffed.
If Norman could get it back that way, he would’ve already done so. But the voice was correct; his way didn’t and wouldn’t work. Even then, he couldn’t give in to violence.
"Why? Because you think I’ll take over?" The voice sounded hurt. "Norman, we are the same. When you are hurt, I am hurt. When you cry, I cry too. When you hate yourself, I hate myself too. The only difference between us is the methods, but you are the only one in control."
The words were like a sledgehammer to the head. Norman’s eyes focused on the screen. In the Chapter, the narrator had taken control by force; the gun from the start was back in the mouth, and he pulled the trigger.
Tyler died, but the Narrator survived. Yes, the one who had the gun was the one who came first.
Sure, the mirror Norman was with him since he was a kid, but before that, Norman was by himself.
He already rejected the extreme conclusion Fight Club presented him with. This wasn’t the way he believed the world could be changed.
"So, what is the way?" The voice asked, fully attentive.
Sure, the system was flawed, but destroying it wasn’t the solution. Humans didn’t always have to reinvent the wheel. They just had to make modifications based on the terrain.
But to make those modifications, the person needed control and liberty. And to modify a civilization, they had to stand at the top. And Norman had to agree that his methods alone wouldn’t help him reach there. So, he had to reach a compromise until then.
"That’s where I come in." The voice turned gleeful. "We use the best method for each case until we stand on the top; then we can make this world a better place for people like us, for Harry."
Norman closed his eyes for the last time. He didn’t have to hit rock bottom to rebuild himself. He had done it when he escaped his father. He had done it again when Emily passed away. Now, he had to do it again to reach the top.
’I’ll do it again when I reach the top, and rebuild the human civilization with me.’
The next morning, the Osborn household was in an uproar as Norman called for the butler.
"Sir?" The butler walked in after hearing the bell.
And inside the bedroom, Norman had changed into the signature three-piece suit he used to wear when he led Oscorp. Now that he was back in the suit and his appearance proper, he ordered the butler to get the car ready.
"Where to, sir?" The driver asked, eager hands on the wheel.
"Oscorp." Norman typed a number on his phone. He had already arranged everything he needed for today’s show.
It took 20 minutes for him to reach the Oscorp building. Without caring for the eyes of the passersby and employees who looked at him in shock, Norman adjusted his tie as the muscle for hire, The Wrecking Crew, stood behind him.
"We have work to do, Goblin." Norman tapped his wrist three times as the agreed signal.
"Who’s we?" For the first time, the voice had crossed over from the mirror, and it walked straight into Oscorp like he owned everything.
"Exactly." Norman smiled, walking past the frozen security.
The board members, who were called in on short notice, stating Norman’s plan to revive the lawsuit, now looked at the swinging doors with thumping hearts.
"Hello, gentlemen. I hope you enjoyed borrowing my company." He walked over to the seat at the head of the table, kicking the one in it to the floor before he sat down.
It was like he had finally returned home.
Placing his elbows on the table as the Wrecking Crew took charge of the place, Norman crossed his fingers under his chin as the right corner of his lip twitched.
"Shall we discuss the compensation for a start?"
The board members gulped, even with dry mouths. And the fear didn’t come because of the Wrecking Crew. Sure, they were part of it. But the main reason was still Norman Osborn.
The last time they had seen him was in court; the fire in his eyes had gone cold. He had become a shadow of himself after understanding that he had no chance of getting Oscorp back.
But now, now he had enough blazing fury in his eyes to burn them all alive.
The worst part was, he just might do that and more.

Ever since posting the last Chapter of Fight Club, John had been inside the specialized training room. Even the next day when he came back from university, he followed the same schedule.
To be truthful, he had increased the time he spent inside there.
’I get itchy if I don’t practice.’ The cane swiped past his face as he dove and rolled on the floor to dodge the second one that went for his legs.
It was hard to do this without observations, Haki, but there was this intent feeling that came to him. Even if the attack was coming from a blind spot, he could feel the trajectory as long as it was aimed at him.
He had used this unconsciously in the fight at the bank, but now it had become more than just reflex; it was becoming a habit.
"Come on, try harder." He smirked at the dejected hands when a third one joined in. "That’s more like it."
John got ready as the three hands came swinging in from all directions. However, before he could move, a system notification appeared in the corner of his vision.
"What?" John was frozen in place at the latest development when the three canes dug into his back, abs, and calves at once. "Ack!"
John folded on the floor, holding back the urge to rub the itching welts. He could only grit his teeth while looking at another addition to the long list of notifications.
[Norman Osborn has rediscovered a forgotten part of himself. +350 EP]
[Norman Osborn has broken a generational chain. +1000 EP]
[Norman Osborn has accepted an ugly truth about himself. +800 EP]
[Norman Osborn has confronted the origin of his hatred. +1000 EP]
[Norman Osborn has refused to surrender his identity. +1500 EP]
[Norman Osborn has forged his own philosophy. +2000 EP]
’Seems like what I feared didn’t happen.’ John sat on the cold floor, a sigh of relief escaping his lips.
He feared that Fight Club might create a more destructive version of Green Goblin, but things hadn’t gotten that way. If the notifications were anything to go by, at least.
And even if Norman went down a darker path, there wasn’t much John could do. Well, aside from defeating him when the fire reached him.
This was just Green Goblin; imagine a more destructive version of Thanos. What was John supposed to do against that with his current powers?
"I need more power." Now that he was hit, John decided to take a break while imitating Shadow.
The system shop opened before him. A little over 18000 EP; that was what he had at the moment. His initial plan was to get Sharingan and the Uchiha bloodline, but not anymore.
As good as Sharingan was, he wanted it to copy martial arts, an ability he already had. Well, kind of.
John had tried to watch martial arts demonstrations on the internet, and he was able to copy them up to 90% accuracy. With practice, he could actually push it to 99%.
The reason he couldn’t get that last 1% was probably that he hadn’t fully awakened the bloodline. Still, that made the Uchiha side a bit of a useless purchase, unless he wished to go all the way to Eternal Mangekyo at once. Which cost even more EP, like over 100,000.
And if John had learned anything, it was to not put all his eggs in one basket. He could have his dream of the cool pinwheel eyes later when he had the EP to burn.
For now, he had to get maximum value out of every purchase. And he believed he had gotten just the perfect combo for the amount of EP he had.
Jujutsu Sorcerer Physique: A body that gives the user access to Cursed Energy; the amount of Cursed Energy depends on the user’s potential, capping at Grade 1.
Note: Getting this will not awaken any cursed techniques.
Price:- 8000 EP
