Would Yall be interested in reading a similar concept like this fic, but done in DC instead?

No, no one has written it yet, nor have I. I am just asking cause I might try it later.

I don’t have the capacity for it right now. But if someone decides to do it before me, don’t forget to tell me about it, Cause I would absolutely read that shit.

The next bonus Chapter will be at 2000 stones.

Good Luck.

...

’Did it have to be today?’ John groaned as hunks of metal flew over his head, heading for the Expo’s centre.

Having fun with Gwen, it had slipped his mind that the one aiming for the Stark Expo, Vanko, tended to act fast when his enemy least expected it.

The civilians at the expo stumbled back as the Hammer drones flew a few meters over their heads, leaving speedy winds that knocked over tents and flipped tables.

There were three things about Stark Expo that everyone knew.

Countless booths from big tech companies, an absurd number of cameras and screens, a shit ton of screens. And right as the flying drones crashed the party at the centre, the screens that had been running ads flickered for a moment, going completely dark.

And then they turned back on with a middle-aged man in glasses that looked and sounded like he was in a perpetual state of lag and tiredness.

"Hello Stark Expo, as you know, my slot was cancelled unfairly by Anthony over a little spat; he was just overreacting. I have decided to make some adjustments." Justin Hammer took over the stage, fixing the cuff of his three-piece Italian suit.

’I wonder who is overreacting here.’ John noticed the drones landing near the closest exit to them, blocking the terrified people.

"Let me present to you the reason my Anthony cancelled my spot, for I can provide this nation something he doesn’t want to. He is a selfish, real selfish man that doesn’t care about our brave heroes, the soldiers, who put their lives on the line every day. Fighting for peace of the great USA and the world."

In the movie, Justin had to do his presentation before Vanko took over, but it seemed like he had decided to work with the russian, if anything, there seemed more drones here than the movie showed.

John remembered the recent headlines featuring Tony Stark.

The most prominent one was the sudden cancellation of his birthday party. There was no news about a fight in his Malibu mansion. So, Rhodes didn’t take off with the suit, the US army didn’t get their hands on it, and by extension, Justin Hammer didn’t get it either and continued to tolerate Vanko.

’This is making sense for a start.’ John continued thinking as Justin kept yapping about the Drones, naming each series after the American army’s forces to get the patriots going.

The ones that hated Tony, or were on the payroll of big defence contractors, and those who were interested in getting the tech to their organizations, they all started clapping, watching the presentation with interest.

"Very soon, and I promise you that, our dear heroes, the stars of the army, won’t have to enter the battlefields and lose their lives. With these projects of mine, I will make sure that no country dares to go against us. And if someone does, we will show them what makes the US of A the greatest nation on this Planet! Now together with me U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S—!"

However, his speech and the terrifying atmosphere outside the main hall were sliced in half by a shooting star that came through the clouds above the expo.

"Sorry buddy, but you ain’t that guy." Tony’s voice echoed from the speakers as Justin was muted. "Ladies and Gentlemen, it will be in your best interest to evacuate; this is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill... I always wanted to say that last part. Jarvis, play the tunes."

The last words came with him appearing on the screen, landing behind a disgruntled Hammer. But the moment he showed up, the blue lights on the drone’s head turned red. The machine guns and missiles were all aimed at Tony.

"Let’s go." John turned to Gwen as others had started to run the moment Hammer drones aimed their guns at Tony.

Tony flew over the Expo. The drone chased after him like animals with rabies. Firing missiles and guns. He dodged and counterfired, but the public beneath screamed in horror as a different sort of firework than the one stated in the Expo pamphlet had started.

"Run, holy shit!"

"Shit Shit Shit!"

"Oh god..."

Among the panicked screams and whimpering of the civilians that scattered in all directions like a bunch of ants, John and Gwen headed for the western exit without much change in their expressions.

’Should I act scared?’ Gwen blinked, watching the young couple in front of them running with everything they had. The guy was holding the scared girl’s hand tightly, telling her it would all be ok.

However, she had to abandon the idea quickly. Her back felt itchy. She looked up to see a few of the wrecked drones heading straight down.

It wasn’t a problem for her. But the young couple ahead. One of the fallen parts had tripped the girl over. The guy was oblivious to the approaching danger, trying to get her up while consoling her.

’I have to do something.’ Gwen was about to pull up her sleeve, but there was a camera staring right at her. And it wasn’t the only one.

One on the pole, one that had fallen from the table, another few mounted at each of the booths. Their tiny red lights glaring at her.

If she saved them and got recorded doing it, that would end her secret identity.

’Spiderwoman, more problems have appeared since she showed up. If possible, I’d like to arrest her.’ Her father’s words echoed in her ears. She had overheard him talking to his colleague one day, and she couldn’t unhear it since then.

If she stepped up now, without her disguise, what would happen to her later? Would she have to be handcuffed by her father?

Still, was this enough of a reason to let them die?

No, Gwen didn’t believe that. She remembered the double page spread from Look Back. These two had a future, a happy one, and they deserved it.

The funny part was, before her thoughts had even ended, she had already reached the two. Even as she was thinking of what to do, she had already made her decision.

Carrying them to safety wouldn’t be easy, but she could do it. Gwen was just about to pick up the two when that tingling sense of danger vanished.

A terrifying boom echoed over her head. Gwen looked to her left and saw the burning wreckage crashing into the fountain. Then she looked at one who did it; his shadow settled over her like it was shielding her.

"I knew this would happen." John sighed.

Thankfully, Gwen hadn’t stopped running while thinking and had reached the couple at normal speed, but there wasn’t enough time to carry them. The burning drone was about to crash into them, and he just chose to make a move.

"John..." She wasn’t surprised at his power, but the words that followed after that.

"You need to get to safety first, Gwen."

On the surface, it was a simple sentence, but she heard a thousand words beneath that all poured into her through his eyes. Only when Gwen was safely out could the Spiderwoman come into the picture.

"We’ll talk about this later." She pointed at him, carrying the woman on her back.

"Yeah, yeah." John waved dismissively.

Honestly, he could’ve just let her play the Hero. But he remembered the scene between George Stacy and her. Although Peter hadn’t died, George had been following after Spiderwoman meticulously. John happened to catch the materials on his desk when he was taken to give his statement. Although it could just be some pressure from above, he didn’t want to take the chance.

If Gwen got caught on a camera like this, it wouldn’t end well. He had seen what happened to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Even if there was no Mysterio here to stir the pot, the Daily Bugle would have a damned field day.

They were already calling her the Spider menace and making her the reason crime had risen. If possible, John wanted her to stop being Spiderwoman for a week or two; that’ll show them. But that wasn’t how these spiderheroes were built.

’A Hanma running away from Tin cans? Pathetic!’ He could hear Yujiro speaking in his head; although his presence had weakened, he wasn’t gone for good.

He probably never will be, because Yujiro was never there. This form of his was the amalgamation of a Hanma’s purest desires, given a proper form by John’s chaotic mind. But with Haki strengthening his will, he could clearly understand this part of him now.

Still, that came with constant lectures and words of disappointment if he so much as rolled his shoulders the wrong way during combat. This guy has been screeching in his head to rip the drones apart from the moment they arrived.

That was part of the reason why he stepped in as well.

Well, truthfully, all of those were just excuses. Everything was an excuse.

There was only one reason he did this.
