Chapter 50: Just a Little Cat

"What the hell are these missions?!" Orion Cross looked at the tasks issued by the system and immediately felt a headache coming on.

Fortunately, he only needed to complete one mission to receive double rewards.

Knock, knock, knock.

The group arrived in front of a large villa mansion. Wolverine stepped forward and knocked on the door.

"Hello. Who are you looking for?" Hank McCoy opened the door.

"We’re looking for the Professor."

"There is no professor here." After saying that, Hank McCoy immediately prepared to close the door.

However, Wolverine did not give him the chance. He kicked the door open and charged inside with Orion Cross and the others.

"Professor! Professor!"

Wolverine rushed straight up to the second floor of the villa.

Being invaded by strangers, Hank McCoy felt anger surge in his heart. His complexion gradually turned blue, and his expression became increasingly ferocious.

"My God, what kind of monster is this guy? Is he the same type as that green giant?"

Seeing Hank McCoy transform into the Beast, Pietro could not help taking a small step back in fear.

"Don’t be afraid. Compared to the Hulk, he’s just a little cat."

Orion Cross patted Wanda’s arm and stood in front of her.

No matter whether the two of them were strong or weak after awakening their abilities, psychologically, they were still ten-year-old children who had only recently lost their parents.

Fear of terrifying things was instinct.

"Then this cat will catch you mice! Roar!"

Beast Hank let out a roar and pounced at Orion Cross.

"Arise!"

Orion Cross raised his right hand, and a sand soldier holding a shield condensed in front of him.

Immediately after, Orion Cross waved his hand forward. The sand soldier charged at Beast Hank with its shield raised, directly knocking him away.

"Stop it, Hank. There’s no need for you to be so violent."

Just as Beast roared and flipped back to his feet, preparing to fight again, a voice came from upstairs.

Then Wolverine came downstairs with a dispirited, drunken man.

"All right, everyone. I’m very busy right now. You can leave."

Charles Xavier held a wine glass and staggered down the stairs.

"I’m afraid we can’t, because someone sent me to find you," Wolverine said.

"Then tell the person who sent you to go eat shit."

Charles smiled drunkenly.

"Uh, that’s a little difficult, but not impossible, because..."

Wolverine looked at Charles with a strange expression. "The person who sent me was you."

"Hm?"

"You from fifty years in the future," Wolverine added.

"So you traveled through time to find me?"

Charles glanced at Orion Cross and the Maximoff siblings, then raised an eyebrow.

"I did, but they didn’t."

"They’re local helpers you just found?"

"No. They’re from another universe."

"Good."

Charles nodded in satisfaction and looked at Wolverine with a smile. "Fuck off."

Wolverine was not surprised that Charles did not believe him. He walked straight up and pointed at his own head. "You can use your ability. Then you’ll know whether what I’m saying is true."

"My ability? Heh..."

Charles sneered, then froze. "How do you know that I..."

After that, relying on his advantage as someone from the future, Wolverine recounted when Charles awakened his ability and all kinds of things from his childhood.

"I’ve never told anyone about any of that..."

Charles’s eyes swept across Orion Cross’s group in shock. Holding the stair railing, he walked upstairs. "Come up. It looks like I need to sober up first."

If all of this was true, then the impact this brought him might be no less than when he first awakened his ability as a child.

Traveling through time and crossing into another universe—were these things that could just be done so casually?

And what exactly had happened in the future that forced them to travel through time to solve it?

"Ugh!"

Perhaps because he was thinking too much, Charles clutched his head and let out a painful groan.

"Charles!"

"Don’t worry, I’m here!"

Hank McCoy ran over with a syringe filled with an oily-yellow liquid and injected it into Charles’s body.

"What is that? A sedative?"

Seeing the syringe, Pietro could not help clicking his tongue.

"It’s a serum to treat his spine. But while the serum repairs his spine, it also repairs his genes, so..."

Hank McCoy stopped halfway, but everyone else understood. The serum erased Charles’s superpower.

"Yes, as you can see, I’m just an ordinary person now. I can’t help you."

A trace of bitterness showed in Charles’s smile.

"No. There’s only one key point in the future apocalypse, and that is Raven. As long as we stop her, we can stop the apocalypse!"

Wolverine looked at Charles seriously. "Only you and Magneto can accomplish this mission."

"Magneto? Erik?"

Charles sneered, picked up a bottle of wine, and drank it in one go. "Right. You should go find him! Remember, he’s locked one hundred floors beneath the Pentagon."

"Actually, there’s another way to solve the future crisis without persuading Mystique."

Orion Cross suddenly spoke.

"What way?"

Wolverine turned to Orion Cross and asked.

"Simple. Use Wanda’s ability to erase Mystique, along with her genes, completely from this world."
