Chapter 46: Bro, Your Tastes Are Seriously Weird
Camille sized up Orion Cross, the pupils of her modified eyes shifting color.
"You have earned my friendship. However, I still have matters to handle. You and your penniless servants may come to House Ferros to find me in ten minutes."
After saying that, the chains at Camille’s waist carried her away through the air.
"That’s the first time I’ve ever been called penniless, and by a woman no less."
Tony glanced at the pile of corpses at Orion Cross’s feet, then supported himself against the wall and walked over.
"Noble, powerful, cold. That woman is terrifying."
Yinsen looked in the direction Camille had left and sighed with emotion.
Compared to Orion Cross killing dozens of people with one spear, Camille splitting a woman in half from the middle with a single kick had far more visual impact.
"That’s right. It’s just a pity about those legs..."
"Let me remind you, she might already be eighty or ninety years old. She maintains her appearance entirely through the thing in her chest."
Seeing Tony about to fall into his old habits again, Orion Cross immediately interrupted him.
"Are you serious?"
Tony’s face was full of doubt. "I’d believe it if you said genetic modification could slow aging, but that thing just now was clearly a product of energy and machinery. How could it possibly be related to a human lifespan?"
"That is the power of combining magic and technology."
Orion Cross spread his hands and spoke.
He could only say that the Book of Thresholds was truly reliable. It had brought them to the only place in Runeterra where large-scale technology existed: the Piltover and Zaun region.
Now that they had arrived here, Orion Cross was ninety percent confident he could complete the mission.
Make Tony believe in magic up to fifty percent?
In the end, that simply meant making Tony place magic and science on equal footing.
"So, you’re planning to help me install that heart thing?"
Tony touched the device in his chest that kept the shrapnel from entering his heart and looked at Orion Cross as he asked.
"Do you think that’s possible?"
Orion Cross rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Were you deaf or blind just now? Didn’t you hear what those people said? There’s only one of that thing, and it’s inside her."
"There should still be a lower-grade device here that can keep him out of danger, right?"
Yinsen patted Tony on the shoulder and looked at Orion Cross.
"That’s right."
Orion Cross walked toward the outside of the alley and waved at the two of them. "Let’s find someone and ask where House Ferros is."
"So, you want Hextech energy just to save this frail servant of yours?"
Camille received Orion Cross and his group. Standing beside the new family head, her own great-niece, she raised the question.
"More or less."
Sitting at the dining table below, Orion Cross glanced at the several servants nearby who were holding mops and cleaning bloodstains off the floor. In his mind, he imagined what kind of massacre must have happened here earlier.
"What a ridiculous decision."
Camille shook her head slightly, then placed one hand on her great-niece’s shoulder. "However, I like cooperating with powerful people. What can you offer in return?"
The so-called new family head could not even say a word. Right now, she was nothing more than the puppet of the Gray Lady, Camille.
"This."
Orion Cross took out a scale and tossed it toward Camille.
"What is this?"
Camille caught the scale between two fingers and held it in front of her eyes. Her modified eyes emitted a golden glow as she began scanning the scale.
"A scale of Galakrond, the Father of Dragons. You can pray to him at any cost and obtain his power."
Orion Cross introduced it with a smile.
"The Father of Dragons? A title I’ve never heard of. But this kind of transaction sounds more like a demon that tricks people out of their souls. Ordinary people wouldn’t dare touch it..."
Camille gripped the scale, revealing a cold and beautiful smile. "Unfortunately, my soul was already lost long ago for the evolution of Piltover."
After sensing how to pray through the scale, Camille did not say another word and directly performed the prayer ritual.
Efficiency was what she pursued.
"I am willing to become your scale armor, Dragon Lord."
After chanting the prayer, Camille felt as if something had suddenly disappeared from her heart. Then, in an instant, a violent power filled her entire body.
Crack.
Camille walked to the side and crushed the head of her younger brother, who was still barely clinging to life. Then she moved her fingers and looked at Orion Cross. "Not bad. The deal is made."
Five minutes later, under Camille’s instructions, a servant brought over a Hextech energy core emitting blue-green light and placed it before Orion Cross.
"Gray Lady, until we meet again."
"A friendly reminder. If you don’t want your family to have no successors in the future, you’d better stop undergoing further modifications."
Now that his goal had been achieved, Orion Cross naturally had no intention of staying long. After leaving those words behind, he immediately said farewell and left House Ferros’s estate.
The three of them returned to that alley once more.
"Hey, aren’t you afraid she’ll cut you in half with one scissor kick while you’re sleeping?"
Thinking back to everything that had happened during the meal earlier, Tony could not help making a comment.
He, Tony Stark, was flirtatious and wild, but even he had standards.
At the very least, he had absolutely no interest in a woman like Camille, whose legs were two blades and whose body was seventy percent modified.
But why... Based on Tony Stark’s countless experiences with people, he swore he had sensed something slightly ambiguous in the way Orion Cross and that Gray Lady spoke to each other.
"Oh God. Bro, your tastes are seriously weird."
The more Tony thought about it, the more terrifying it felt, and he could not help covering his face.
"You’re overthinking it."
Orion Cross glanced at Tony speechlessly.
Naturally, he knew what was going on. When Camille attempted to pray to Galakrond, perhaps in order to make herself even colder and more ruthless so she could judge everything calmly, what she had chosen to sacrifice was the small remaining fragment of her soul that still contained emotions.
"By the way, I traded for this thing, so remember to return it to me."
Orion Cross tapped the Hextech energy core installed in Tony’s chest and reminded him.
"Oh, no!"
Tony cried out in alarm. "This thing is too amazing. Let me borrow it for research. After I mass-produce it, I’ll return a hundred to you!"
"Is this how you usually do business?"
Orion Cross glanced at the mission progress and smiled.
