Chapter 11: Nick Fury’s Trust Mission
"I agree."
Nick Fury nodded in agreement.
In truth, even if Orion Cross had not made this request, he would still have tried searching for the hidden mage forces concealed within the mundane world.
What he had not expected was that the mage organization he had originally assumed should exist beyond worldly affairs was actually located in the three greatest economic centers of the modern world.
Was this merely a coincidence, or did the gathering places of these mages shift along with the rise and fall of the mortal world?
"Are you wondering why it happens to be those three places?"
Orion Cross saw through Nick Fury’s confusion, chuckled softly, and said, "Who told them to be the guardians of the Time Stone? Maybe their founder, Agamotto, used the Time Stone to see that these places would become priceless in the future, so he claimed land there in advance."
"Huh?"
Nick Fury, who had been deep in thought, froze when he heard Orion Cross’s words. There was an operation like that?
"I’m guessing."
"..."
The corner of Nick Fury’s mouth twitched. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but swallowed it in the end.
What the hell did he mean, he was guessing? Could something like this be guessed casually?
"Believe it or not, up to you."
Orion Cross curled his lips. A guess was a guess, but it was not completely baseless.
If Agamotto had not used the Time Stone to see the future, why would he have chosen those three places a thousand years ago?
If Britain and Hong Kong had already possessed a certain level of civilization back then, America was still a barren wilderness at the time.
A group of mages built a Sanctum there just to deal with primitive people?
As for why they chose Hong Kong instead of Shanghai in the great nation of the East, that was naturally because a thousand years ago, more than half of Shanghai was still underwater.
Beep, beep.
Nick Fury was just about to speak when the communicator at his waist rang.
"Hello? Got it. I’ll come out now."
After saying a few words into the communicator, Nick Fury looked at Orion Cross. "Everything has been set up outside. Now only the inside is left. If possible..."
"You want me to agree to let those people come in?"
Orion Cross looked at Nick Fury with a half-smile.
"No, I’ll do it myself."
With Orion Cross’s reminder, Nick Fury immediately realized the problem. The fewer people who knew about what was happening here, the better.
"You’ll do it yourself?" Orion Cross raised an eyebrow.
"I can help too."
Carol also spoke up.
And so, Marvel’s strongest female hero and the future director of S.H.I.E.L.D. spent the next half an hour helping Orion Cross and Hela pull the internet cable inside and get the network connected.
After that, Nick Fury left with the Olympian Sword, which had already become an ordinary iron sword.
"I’m preparing to leave Earth. Maybe it’ll be many years before we meet again. I hope you’ll already be out by then."
Carol stepped forward and hugged Orion Cross, making her farewell.
Although she and Orion Cross had only just met, and although they had not become temporary comrades-in-arms like she had with Nick Fury, everything she had experienced through the memory-reversal magic was enough for her to respect the man before her.
"When are you planning to leave?"
Orion Cross glanced at the irritating mission in his system mission list and asked.
"In about a month. There are still some preparations to make, and I need to purchase some supplies."
Carol calculated it in her mind and answered.
"A month later?"
Orion Cross’s eyes lit up. "Then come here again before you leave Earth."
One month was exactly the mission refresh time.
Maybe a mission Orion Cross could actually complete would refresh by then.
"Alright."
Carol nodded without hesitation, then looked a little puzzled. "Do you have something you can’t tell me now?"
"That thing will only happen a month from now. You’ll know when the time comes."
"Fine. I’m leaving, then."
Carol smiled helplessly, turned around, and leaped up. Energy erupted from her hands as she broke through the seal and flew out.
"Hah."
After everything was over, Orion Cross collapsed onto the sofa and let out a breath.
"What a shame. It’s only the nineties right now. These old computers are terrible."
Seeing Hela already sitting at the desk in the distance and beginning to explore how to use the computer, the corner of Orion Cross’s mouth could not help twitching.
Still, having something was better than having nothing. Unfortunately, it was only 1995. StarCraft, Red Alert, Diablo, not a single one of them had come out yet.
The only one he seemed to remember was The Legend of Sword and Fairy 95, but clearly, Nick Fury had not brought him a game disc for The Legend of Sword and Fairy 95.
Thankfully, at least these two computers had a few pirated digital games installed, such as Pac-Man, Mario, and Contra.
While Orion Cross played games to pass the time, Hela tried a few games before choosing to open a search engine instead. She began looking up all kinds of information, and no one knew what she was thinking.
A few days later.
Just as Orion Cross, who had grown bored of playing games and registered a social account to chat online, was sitting there, a voice suddenly sounded beside his ear.
[Completed Nick Fury Series Mission: The Skeptic’s Trust: Raise Nick Fury’s trust level to more than fifty percent.]
"That old fox Nick Fury really is too cautious."
Looking at the mission that had only just been completed, Orion Cross could not help feeling somewhat speechless.
If he had not guessed wrong, Nick Fury had probably already had the scientists of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division thoroughly examine the Olympian Sword.
Only now had Nick Fury truly chosen to believe what Orion Cross had said before.
