Chapter 31: Returning to Earth
"You really have no idea. That guy Nick Fury is the biggest pencil case I’ve ever seen. Doesn’t he get tired stuffing himself with that many pens?"
Coulson raised his glass with drunken eyes and shouted loudly.
In another world, he could completely relax and enjoy this time. He no longer had to strictly follow his rules as an agent, and he had even begun making fun of his superior.
"Good. Keep going."
Orion Cross smiled, then looked at Pietro beside him. "Did you record all that?"
"Don’t worry, boss. Crystal clear."
Pietro gave Orion Cross a hand gesture.
"You would never believe it. That bastard Nick Fury actually wanted me to negotiate with the Hulk and get him to join us!"
Coulson’s face was flushed red, and he looked utterly grief-stricken. "You might not know what the Hulk is. He’s a monster created by gamma radiation. He’s twice my height, six times my size, and one punch from him could smash me into a pile of shit."
"Then he really did go a bit too far."
Orion Cross nodded.
If he remembered correctly, the Hulk was still being hunted by the military right now. He was basically tearing planes apart with his bare hands and trampling tanks underfoot.
If Coulson went over, there was a good chance he would not even have time to say a word before being mistaken for someone from the military and stomped to death.
Coulson’s negotiation skills and diplomatic ability were indeed excellent, but that depended on the other party being a person.
Sending Coulson to deal with the Hulk was like playing music to a cow.
For the rest of the time, Coulson, completely drunk, began rambling nonsense.
"Monsters? Technology? Are they from Zaun, or Piltover?"
Miss Fortune smiled as she watched the group talk, silently analyzing everything in her heart. She thought that if she had time in the future, she could send someone to look for them.
An hour later, everyone bid farewell to Miss Fortune and left Bilgewater.
Coulson held bags upon bags of Bilgewater specialties in his hands, rubbing his aching head. "I didn’t say anything strange when I was drunk earlier, did I?"
"No, balding uncle. Don’t worry. You didn’t say anything."
Pietro smiled slyly and slipped the memory card containing the recording into his pocket.
"Speaking of which, why are you in such a hurry to leave?"
Coulson looked at Orion Cross in confusion, then revealed a smile that all men understood. "If you stayed another day, or even just one night, maybe something could have happened between you and that hot red-haired captain."
Hearing Coulson say that, Wanda became a little unhappy. She had originally thought it was not very good for Pietro to secretly record him, but now...
Wanda leaned close to Pietro’s ear and whispered a few words.
"No problem. I’m best at tattling."
Pietro gave his sister a reassuring look.
"Are you stupid? Think about how long we’ve already stayed."
Orion Cross looked at Coulson speechlessly and said, "If we stay another two hours, by the time you go back, Earth will already have been occupied by other dimensions."
"Time?"
Coulson’s expression changed. He hurriedly pulled up his sleeve and glanced at his watch.
Ten hours had already passed!
He clearly remembered that the Ancient One had said if they exceeded twelve hours, other dimensions would launch an invasion.
"Then let’s hurry back. What do we need to do?"
Coulson picked up the local specialties from the other world and looked anxiously at Orion Cross.
"Now you know how to be anxious?"
Orion Cross smiled and shrugged, then said to everyone, "If there’s nothing left behind, get ready."
"By the way, you don’t need to grab me this time."
Seeing Coulson about to step forward, Orion Cross took a step back and said.
Although he had only just begun absorbing magic power, it was already enough for some simple applications.
At the very least, when traveling across dimensions now, it was no longer limited to objects in direct contact with his body.
Buzz.
Space trembled slightly, and the figures and traces of Orion Cross’s group completely disappeared from that universe.
Thud.
This time, when they crossed dimensions, Orion Cross’s group did not appear in the sky again. They returned steadily to the original room.
Only now, inside the room, a round-bodied middle-aged man was holding a feather duster and cleaning. When he saw several people suddenly appear, he froze on the spot.
"Wong, take my guests to their rooms to rest."
The Ancient One took a deep breath and spoke to the chubby man.
"Yes, Venerable Ancient One."
Wong put down the feather duster and made an inviting gesture toward Orion Cross’s group.
"It looks like you’ve gained quite a few insights. We won’t disturb you, then."
Orion Cross nodded to the Ancient One, then followed Wong out.
In fact, there had been another reason why he had continued staying in the universe where Runeterra was located.
Now, separated by two dimensions, Orion Cross could freely obtain magic power. But when he was within Runeterra’s dimension, as long as he stayed for a certain amount of time, Aurelion Sol would notice him and lock onto him.
There would be no danger after being noticed, but he would be forcibly driven out of Runeterra’s universe by it.
And that "certain amount of time," because Orion Cross’s extradimensional magic was still only at the beginner stage, just happened to be twelve hours.
