Chapter 48: Wolverine Who Landed in the Wrong Place
"Cough, cough—"
The burly man who had been dragged across the ground by Orion Cross coughed up a mouthful of blood. He struggled to sit up and looked at Orion Cross. "You’re the person Pietro was talking about?"
"That’s right. What do you want with him?"
Orion Cross frowned slightly as he looked at the man in front of him and asked.
He had originally thought the person who came to attack Pietro would at least be some supervillain. In the end, aside from being a little stronger than normal, the man in front of him did not seem to have any superpowers. He did not even have a knife or a gun on him.
And he wanted to kidnap someone like this? Did he think this was ancient times?
"We have to stop Raven... cough! Save them..."
The burly man was covered in blood, yet he slowly stood up from the ground.
"Looks like your willpower is pretty good. You can still stand after suffering such serious injuries."
Orion Cross raised an eyebrow and spoke.
"I’ve suffered injuries a hundred times worse than this. This is nothing."
The burly man coughed up another mouthful of blood and was already on the verge of collapse.
"So, the Raven you’re talking about—is she Riven, the Exile of Noxus, or Baron Rivendare of the Scourge?"
Orion Cross took a step back to avoid the sprayed blood and asked.
"Neither. She’s like you, a mutant."
After saying that, the burly man collapsed weakly to the ground.
"I’m not a mutant."
Orion Cross muttered, then waved to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who had arrived behind him. "Treat him. Don’t let him die!"
Mutant. It was a familiar yet unfamiliar term.
Although Orion Cross could not be completely certain, there was most likely no such thing as mutants in this world.
After all, even Invisible Woman from the Fantastic Four had crossed over from a neighboring parallel universe.
Then this person in front of him... could he be another unlucky bastard?
"Ah!"
The female doctor treating the burly man suddenly screamed and stood up.
"What happened?"
An agent drew his pistol, aimed it at the burly man, and asked.
"He... he snatched the adrenaline and injected all of it!"
The female doctor looked at the burly man in fear and shouted.
"For every minute we waste, the future becomes that much more dangerous."
After injecting the adrenaline, the burly man exhaled deeply, walked up to Orion Cross, and spoke.
"I can help you, but can you at least tell me your name first?"
Orion Cross narrowed his eyes and asked.
"Logan. I come from fifty years in the future."
"Fifty years in the future? Are you sure you’re not from the neighboring universe?"
After confirming the burly man’s identity, Orion Cross smiled faintly and asked in return.
"What do you mean?"
"There are no mutants in this world."
Orion Cross patted Wolverine on the shoulder. "Brother, you landed in the wrong place."
"This isn’t the time for jokes!"
Wolverine frowned and said.
"It’s 2008 right now. You said you came from fifty years in the future, so that would be 2058?"
Orion Cross took out his phone and showed Wolverine the time.
"No, I’m from 2023... How is that possible?"
"Kitty! Kitty! Take me back!"
An anxious look appeared in Wolverine’s eyes as he shouted Shadowcat’s name at the surroundings.
He had carried the final hope of mutantkind with him, but now he had ended up in the wrong place. Were mutants destined to perish?
"Don’t panic. If you keep yelling like that, you’ll scare the kids nearby..."
Ding-dong.
"Hm?"
Orion Cross took out his phone and saw that he had received a message from the Ancient One.
[Ancient One: If you want those two children to awaken early, you can take them next door once.]
Seeing this message, Orion Cross looked back at Pietro and Wanda, then made a decision in his heart.
There was only a little more than a month left until the turning point of the Marvel movie world, which was the birth of Iron Man. When that time came, all sorts of monsters and freaks would start jumping out.
Originally, the siblings could have stayed in Sokovia and survived under Hydra’s "protection" all the way until the Age of Ultron in 2015. But now they were in New York.
Orion Cross could not turn himself into a babysitter who came running whenever called. In the end, they still needed power of their own.
In that case...
"All right, stop howling. I can take you back."
Orion Cross slapped Wolverine, who was desperately shouting for Shadowcat, then turned to look at Wanda and Pietro. "Do you want superpowers?"
"Of course I do! If I had the Holy Gun and Yuumi, I wouldn’t have been caught by this uncle today!"
Pietro looked at Wolverine a little unhappily and nodded.
"What about you, Wanda?" Orion Cross looked at Wanda.
"I want power."
Wanda’s young, beautiful face was filled with seriousness.
"Then let’s go. We’ll find a place."
Orion Cross patted Pietro on the shoulder, held Wanda’s hand, and walked out of the school.
"Wait for me!"
Seeing Orion Cross leave, Wolverine hurriedly chased after him.
The group left the school, and Skye happened to arrive at that moment. She glanced at Wolverine, who was covered in blood. "I heard you were attacked. Are you okay?"
"We’re fine. But since you’re here, help block the cameras nearby."
Although Orion Cross was not afraid of being exposed, if he could casually avoid trouble, then naturally he would.
"Hm? Got it."
Skye rolled up her sleeve, tapped twice on a small wristwatch, then looked at Orion Cross and blinked. "All right, done. What are you going to do?"
"You can go home and prepare dinner. As for us..."
"Let’s go to the world of mutants."
Orion Cross held Wanda’s hand, starlight surging around him as extradimensional magic enveloped the group.
