Chapter 2986. Ice and Plants

"Didn’t grab Walker?"

"No, he is running down a rabbit hole of ideas and theories. I bet he will have at least three books written and several new ideas no one can manage for a couple of years. I don’t think he realizes that he is doing it too, he’s just stuck in his own head again."

Alma laughed since she had followed after Gil with their own work needing to be done. He had dropped off the papers but she had managed to catch up to him running her own errands as part of her duty.

"How was checking the trees being added to the connection to the elven forest?"

"There were a couple that had the green sprout fungus but we were able to handle them and made them healthy again. It is becoming a smaller problem than it used to for a lot of trees. Just some care and salt water mist and it is dealt with. No one figured that out until Genesis was formed."

This had been another topic that had been revolving around the knowledge that Genesis had gathered and created. Larger issues like diseases that could destroy hundreds of trees and make pruning or burning them important acts had become small issues if not non issues overall.

This was simply because of the vast amount of studying and working together that came with many of the issues that were faced often in relation to the damage that disease did to crops. The same issues that faced a naturally occurring forest would affect an apple orchard which farmers would be entirely decimated if they lost.

Therefore, the knowledge between both came together to find serious cures to these issues.

The green sprout mold was one that had been considered a huge issue at one point but was nothing now.

"So that will just leave us to speak to the wandering planter. He’s an odd one, right?" Gil was still not as up to date on who this was. However, they had apparently been an elf that wandered planting trees in an effort to return many that had begun to go extinct to return to prosperity.

They had been wandering and planting before Gil had even met Alma. let alone before she had even been born!

With Genesis forming, apparently the wandering planter had appeared here and there around other elf villages gathering new seeds and information before encountering some of the Genesis forces.

They had somehow managed to speak to a few people of the more important figures gathering herbs and even growing the herbs that were recovered from some of the elemental planes. Their ways of speaking and getting others to donate seeds and small sprouts was amazing. Or they just had enough skills to be extremely convincing.

Yet, when this wandering planter who was known by many people as more of a random legend had appeared within Genesis and requested to speak to the current queen of all elves who united them, it was astonishing.

"You don’t know what village they came from? So we don’t know what kind of elf they are?" This was the subject that surprised Gil the most. Since this was a fairly famous figure who tried to ensure that there would be plants protected and still growing, he imagined a lot of information would be known about them.

"No, they wear heavy hoods and robes with pockets full of sprouts and seeds. Some believed he was a dryad or a spirit of some form. Now, we know that they are an elf for certain since they have admitted that. We just need to meet him." Alma laughed a bit playing with a small seedling in her hand.

She had been doing this for the past couple of days since she had realized a better way to feed some of the plants she bred and altered for battle to grow. It wasn’t that she wasn’t abusing her powers so to speak, but this form of experimentation was necessary to encourage her abilities to grow and her connection with plants.

Since she had connected herself to all of the spirit trees of Genesis, including the central spirit trees, she realized that many plants that were cared for over various years by the very same people often changed traits related to those people.

This was written in the evidence of a willow tree beginning to have yellow leaves naturally because those who cared for it for three generations were blond and built their home next to it. The humans never even noticed this happening until someone had pointed it out one day.

Therefore, she was trying to make the small seeds that became vines she used for combat to grow more like her. Or better said, to grow better to react to her mana specifically. She was basically creating plants that only moved with her mana and her skills instead of the plants that might be able to be influenced by others manas.

It could be more challenging but could enhance her class skills overall and her understanding of plants as a whole.

"He’s just here in the Genesis building meeting rooms? I would have expected to be out in the farm fields... Alma, that is not a snow elf but that is a high elf that only focused on ice and water mana." Gil knew as soon as they neared the room. His light attitude drifted off as he understood that they were meeting another elf that had grasped the deeper and more ancient aspects of the elven bloodline.

"You were close to understanding what a high elf was and how to become one before the world changed and returned to a proper flow." Gil spoke as soon as he opened the door and seeing that he had taken the lead, Alma did not speak over him or anything.

The robed figure was wrapped in various fabrics. His hands were covered in hand wrappings that were made to be soft on seeds and saplings. The scent of dirt filled the air but Gil was not blind.

He knew the best out of any high elf or elf in general how to sense what kind of elf someone was. It helped immensely in understanding affinities and the direction that some younger elves were beginning to travel in their lives.

"I am called a high glacial elf." The voice was rough and muffled. It clearly was not a voice used before or often. "I still do not trust in that. The cold and ice will preserve most seeds so I accept it. But I wish to have the warmth to grow all things."

It was an honest response but one that seemed unsure if it was truly possible. Knowing that they had the deeper affinity and focus for ice now, there was clearly worries that there would not be enough warmth to grow and develop the seeds and plants they planted.

"So you came here looking for help to ensure that the efforts in returning many species of endangered plants back to normality. I understand. My wife would be able to guide you, however, I believe you should look for an assistant. Someone who will travel with you and can spur the growth of a plant alongside you. There are many who share your duty and goals now. Many who would give everything to do what you do even if it was unsuccessful."

Gil was lightening his tone while speaking. He could tell that the affinity of this elf who was called a wandering planter was strong. If they had been an ice mage or water mage they would be very powerful.

Yet, they had the desire to plant and protect the nature growing from the earth. A sad story of having an affinity that didn’t immediately affect their goal. Although, they had found a way to make that affinity work for them in the means of keeping seeds dormant due to the cold of ice mana.

"I believe I would struggle with such things. I do not share my time often. This is already too much." The gesture around them of walls and of what both Alma and Gil knew to be the busy streets of Genesis must have a greater effect on them than they showed.

"You can sense the moments here though? They grow on the sides of streets, in the small harbors where water flows for boats. Even on the roofs of buildings as gardens and natural resting places. Nature is welcome here and we can work to make you comfortable." In a few breaths, seeds Alma dropped began to sprout in to little poisonous flowers. Harmless if left to admire but dangerous if harmed.

"Everyone and everything is welcome here. You are as well. It’s nice to meet you. I am Alma and this is Gil and we are leading the elves."
