Chapter 2985. Ideas Ideas Ideas
"It is a living thing and it isn’t. It’s like a plant monster. It isn’t intelligent but it could one day become intelligent at some point." Walker had already thought that as he believed the ways that dungeons absorbed mana to grow was similar to a plant’s ability to absorb nutrients from certain manas and whatnot.
However, finding that the same sentiment was here was impressive. There was even a direct representation of that when a few worn images were scribbled out in the corners of what had once been a diagram.
The flow of mana was the important aspect here.
Just as the manas could unify and become a naturally formed elemental rune, they could also change form and shape taking on a sphere. This change was like making the rune the core and changing the innate flow allowing for the mana to still be controlled as it moved outward and inward at the same time.
That was explaining to Walker why his condensing and utilizing of a sealed elemental plane worked. He has effectively caused the same mixing of manas and formation of a core that could happen naturally. It had also created a similar density that would be around the core, or naturally formed rune, that would become the dungeon core as a whole.
This taught Walker that his theories about how the dungeons formed naturally and through added intent from another were similar. However, that did not mean that there was a difference in the ways that the dungeons manifested in terms of what was within.
He could tell that he hadn’t even finished a single step for the overall creation.
Specifically, there was the fact that he had not crafted any formation of the inside of the dungeon. The form that it would take had no guidance.
This mistake meant that Walker would need to go back and put more in to the dungeon. He had to have more effort to determine the form that it would take and the benefits that it would have for Genesis as a whole. Especially since he needed it to be able to be useful for elemental resistance training!
Realizing that he had just managed to condense and elemental alone and make the very basic form did not deter Walker. Just this information alone meant that there were more layers to sculpting a dungeon that he did not realize.
The nice part was, he could use this beginner style information to realize his errors and know that if he were to look in to the dungeon again, he would be able to improve the mana flow and the abilities it might have as time went on.
This made him also understand that if he truly wished to make a dungeon capable of training others, he might have the chance to make training dummies that naturally grew back. To make entire obstacle courses that were the very foundation of the environment within a dungeon.
Before, he had his mind set on the fact that he would be able to make a dungeon that had the stronger manas able to train resistances so that people could venture in to the elemental planes later. But not that he could have the proper ability to shape the inside itself.
Looking further, he found some broken sentences referencing the skills needed to change the environment.
How understanding a single tree could be the natural growth path for a tree within the dungeon.
While a tree could form a seed and fruits, that did not mean that it was the origin of that tree. The dungeon itself was not necessarily a perfect and real place.
Dungeons that formed the same clear cut environment over and over were basically like forming water balls from the air.
The water was there along with the water mana itself. Therefore, the water ball could be formed.
So a forest that was always the same and did not change would be formed and could be taken leaves from. But they would not grow new branches because they were not the same as a living and changing tree. It also meant that the quality of the leaves harvested would not grow greater or become better over years of nurturing.
It was like being set back to the state that they were in when they were first seen. It was less impressive but also even more impressive because it could be said that time mana did not affect dungeons like this in the same ways as others.
This was also the theoretical ideal for a training dungeon.
It could reform to the state that it was in over and over allowing for consistent training. Meaning that he would have to figure out how to set a rest time for the dungeon that was frequent to maintain the inner environment and also the flow of mana needed for the dungeon to remain in such a state as it was repaired.
The other way this could go was a dungeon greatly affected by time. Like a plant that would grow, go dormant in the winter, then grow again with new flowers an fruits to be harvested.
This sort of style within a dungeon was greatly affected by time mana just as any living thing. It also could grow the internal space within larger and the environment was able to be completely changed by killing off certain monsters or harvesting too much of a plant.
This meant that such a dungeon was more in need of care and the constant flow of mana. Let alone nutrients and time to grow without being entirely unbalanced by foolish actions. If it went unbalanced, then the dungeon would close for very long periods of time while it adapted and balanced itself naturally.
Meaning that a dungeon like this was most likely capable of growing intelligent in some form or another and less related to the fact that someone might have sculpted it.
There were also broken notes about dungeons that used shards of a greater elemental plane or isolated space growing to return to what they used to be. Or being held to be a remnant memory.
That was a key point.
Some dungeons were made to entirely protect the memory of a place destroyed.
That knowledge alone meant that dungeon sculptors might be able to take shards of a place or space and ensure that something was not lost or was remembered.
This reminded him of the place he had found the fairy dragon. The space was separated and now was part of his multi dimensional storage that was growing and developing right now. But if he had known this, he might have understood how it could form a dungeon and be kept safe for more years or even turned in to a literal permanent haven for fairy dragons to keep their nests or eggs in.
That was neither here nor there though. Walker was reveling in these bits of knowledge. He was frustrated though.
Various bits were missing which stopped him from understanding the ways that someone were to properly capture other shards of space and make that the core of a dungeon.
Not that Walker didn’t believe he could do this through the storage skills he had and the spatial manipulation skills he had.
But, he believed that if he pushed to do that without more knowledge he could most likely cause damage to what he wished to protect within that space. He needed better understanding and manipulation skills to achieve such a thing.
This was not the focus right now.
Walker found a portion of notes talking about adding natural plants, monsters, and materials to a dungeon to set as a base for the dungeon to direct mana toward and develop. In doing so, the dungeon would basically use those things to copy and foster well enough to create an environment as a whole.
It would be interesting to see if he could make a dungeon farm. Something similar to a field with perfect growing conditions for basic crops. Something that could reduce the space used and increase the production for people to always be at ease about their food sources.
The idea quickly became a backseat idea as he realized that he could do more than that too. Just like the floating islands, he might be able to make a dungeon that could travel through the air and be a moving perfect hospital or maybe a perfect floating farm.
The ideas that kept coming to Walker were quickly written down as he realized that the more ideas he had the more he wished that he had more to learn and explore in this journal. If it was complete. If it was multiple volumes.
If he could meet a dungeon sculptor and add more information and skills to his knowledge or to find someone that could dedicate themselves to learning these things...
