Chapter 2541 - 2517: Impossible to Stop
Drive the hostages as the vanguard, then mix in with the crowd to rush out, making the military and police outside fear hitting the hostages and not dare to fire.
There’s no doubt this is a good tactic; when Karl decided to become an enemy of the state, his methods were not only fierce but also unrestrained.
That’s why trained elite soldiers are difficult to deal with once they begin committing crimes, because they have experience and skills, far more formidable than the police dealing with them.
The three of them intimidated the crowd by shooting at the roof, forcing them to get up from the floor and gather at the door. Gao Yang didn’t want to be among the first to rush out; what if a jittery cop outside accidentally shot and killed him?
Driving approximately twenty people to the door, Karl nodded, then waved his hand, and four men split into two groups, standing on either side of the main entrance.
"When I count to three, you run out, because I’ll be firing. If anyone doesn’t run, don’t blame me if you get shot."
Gao Yang and Joseph weren’t driven to the door; there were still quite a few people left inside. Perhaps Karl felt there were already enough people and didn’t need to pull more hostages to shield their escape.
Seeing a large gathering behind the glass shop door, the police outside were extremely tense. Most of them had their guns pointed at the door, while someone kept shouting into a loudspeaker, demanding negotiations, urging Karl and the others not to act impulsively.
At this moment, Gao Yang saw that Mike and another person weren’t at the shop door but had concealed themselves on both sides of a glass window not far from the door.
Gao Yang was somewhat amazed and whispered, "What are they doing? Aren’t they planning to rush out with the crowd?"
Joseph whispered back, "They won’t get out; there’s too many people outside."
"Then what are they planning? Surely they aren’t doing nothing, or do they intend to stubbornly resist in the store?"
Gao Yang was really puzzled. He felt the four from Cerberus were as good as dead, and at this point, he didn’t need to do anything to achieve the best outcome.
"One, two, three, run!"
The glass door was suddenly pushed open, and the hostages behind it charged out wildly. After being threatened and reminded by the police, some didn’t run far before collapsing to the ground with their hands over their heads, but there were still people screaming as they continued running toward the police, mostly women.
"Rat-a-tat-tat."
The sound of gunfire rang out, and Gao Yang realized he had guessed wrong.
Karl Stemonsen and his group didn’t rush out at all; they formed groups, two behind windows and two behind the door, and started shooting at the police.
The timing of Karl’s counting was also preparation for breaking through the window. When Karl finished counting, the four started firing at the glass on the door and window, then smashed it completely with their guns and continued shooting.
Submachine guns fired in short bursts; with each gunshot, someone outside inevitably fell.
Two people covered each other, coordinating their shots, and though the police didn’t fire immediately, they failed to mount any effective counterattack against Karl and the other four.
Joseph stared in amazement. He climbed up and looked out the window, then muttered, "F**k..."
The police outside were dropping left and right, not because they wanted to be lenient, but because Karl and the others were shooting too accurately, too quickly, too lethally.
Good gunmanship doesn’t make a good soldier; lots of people have good gunmanship, like shooting athletes or certain hunters.
But a top-tier soldier definitely has excellent gunmanship, especially those Special Forces soldiers who spend all their time, outside battle, training.
Without a doubt, Karl Stemonsen and the four were the best shooters Joseph had ever seen, bar none.
Gao Yang couldn’t help but peek up too, observing the situation outside, and finally understood Karl’s plan.
It wasn’t about seizing the chaos to rush out, nor was it about using hostages to threaten the police to withdraw.
From the start, Karl planned to fight head-on, eliminate anyone blocking the way, then leave at leisure.
Gao Yang’s eyes widened.
"Sniper at two o’clock position! Distance one hundred twenty meters!"
"Sniper at ten o’clock position, sniper at high position at eleven o’clock, distance one hundred meters!"
After reminding each other loudly, Karl shouted, "Concentrate fire! Take out the snipers! Ready, fire!"
Police snipers usually don’t stay far from their targets, unlike military snipers, because police are an enforcement unit and can choose the most suitable position to shoot targets, so their distance from the target isn’t far. Thus, submachine gun range is sufficient for countering snipers.
The four aimed their guns at the snipers’ positions and fired simultaneously.
After shooting, Karl quickly changed the magazine, while his partner grabbed the spare submachine gun. When Karl finished reloading the magazine, he returned the spare gun and swiftly reloaded his own gun.
The swap between guns, covering one another while changing magazines, was perfectly timed, and the four moved positions back and forth, providing mutual cover while shooting, surprisingly suppressing the police force outside completely.
After reloading, Karl whispered, "Rush out!"
The police outside were thoroughly suppressed, only firing blindly without aiming, unable to pose any threat to Karl and his group.
But there were still many police hiding behind the convoy of cars outside; to eliminate all obstacles, Karl and his group had to go out.
With the order given, Karl was the first to rush out the restaurant door while Mike jumped out the window. After they ducked outside, the two left behind in the restaurant for cover followed suit.
This wasn’t a movie, so the formidable tactics and actions of Karl and his group were more than incredible.
Gao Yang used artillery to decimate Cerberus completely, so even though he had confronted Cerberus, he didn’t know their true capabilities until now.
He compared Satan and Cerberus and found that Satan lagged far behind Cerberus in such small-scale coordination. Cerberus members were selectively chosen and trained together for countless years within the same tactical system. If Satan can rival them despite being individuals from different nations and training programs, that would be delusional.
Joseph whispered, "Too powerful."
Gao Yang whispered, "Yes, very powerful, but they are still doomed, even if they manage to get away from here they are still doomed."
Karl and his group quickly covered each other as they broke through the police encirclement, but ultimately, four people couldn’t account for everything, nor could they eliminate everyone. A policeman hiding behind a police car fired a shot, and Gao Yang saw blood spurting from the leg of one of Cerberus’s members.
Gao Yang let out a light sigh, then whispered, "Now that there’s an injured, they won’t escape. Even if they can temporarily leave here, they’re doomed, doomed."
