Chapter 560: The Water Kirin Egg

Thanks to Insight’s information-gathering ability, the details of the treasure quickly appeared before Marcus’s eyes, and the words burst out of his mouth before he could stop himself.

"A Water Kirin!"

He stared at the two treasures floating above the swirling whirlpool, his mind momentarily going blank. No monsters had emerged from the vortex; instead, only two items wrapped in dazzling golden light hovered above the water.

Hearing his shout, the women immediately gathered around him. "Marcus... did you just say a Kirin?" Disbelief filled their faces as they hurried to his side, their eyes fixed on the glowing blue pet egg.

"Yeah," Marcus said, nodding slowly, still struggling to process what he was seeing. "This pet egg belongs to a Divine Beast, a Water Kirin."

Even saying the words aloud felt unreal; a Kirin was an ancient Divine Beast, a legendary creature that countless people had only ever heard about in myths, yet somehow, one had appeared right before him. This was unbelievable.

His companions could barely contain themselves, repeatedly glancing between Marcus and the pet egg floating above the whirlpool. Seeing their anxious expressions, Marcus quickly shared everything Insight had uncovered.

More than ten thousand years ago, a holy monk from the Eastern Seas visited Lady Green Tide and borrowed her Mythic Artifact, the Jade Purification Vase. The artifact possessed powerful healing abilities and could continuously gather water-element energy, making it the perfect treasure to heal an injured Water Kirin egg.

Lady Green Tide readily agreed, placing both the Jade Purification Vase and the damaged Water Kirin egg inside the swirling whirlpool, where water-element energy was at its purest. Using the endless spiritual energy gathered by the whirlpool, the vase slowly nurtured and repaired the damaged egg over countless years.

That was all Insight revealed. The blue pet egg was obviously the Water Kirin’s egg, while the blue jade vase beneath it was Lady Green Tide’s Jade Purification Vase. There was no doubt about it: they had truly struck the jackpot.

"Marcus, it’s been over ten thousand years. Does that mean the egg has completely healed? Can we really hatch a Water Kirin now?" Jade asked excitedly, while everyone else looked at Marcus with equally hopeful expressions.

Unfortunately, Insight only revealed the item’s history; it didn’t answer questions about its current condition.

"It... should be healed by now," Marcus said, not entirely certain, but that seemed like the most reasonable conclusion.

He urged Blackie toward the center of the whirlpool and carefully reached out, grabbing the Water Kirin egg with one hand and the Jade Purification Vase with the other.

The moment both treasures left the water, the brilliant golden light surrounding the fountain vanished; with a loud splash, the towering water column collapsed back into the whirlpool, and the treasure map that had guided them here also fell into the spinning waters before disappearing completely.

Within moments, everything returned to normal. The whirlpool quietly rotated as before, glowing with a soft blue light while strands of golden energy drifted lazily through the water, as though nothing had ever happened.

Marcus turned Blackie around and flew back to the group, placing both treasures where everyone could examine them together.

Water Kirin Pet Egg: An egg belonging to an ancient Divine Beast; over ten thousand years ago, it was severely damaged during incubation and was on the verge of shattering when it was discovered by a holy monk from the Eastern Seas.

The monk first covered the eggshell with the divine-grade treasure known as Purple Crystal Ten-Thousand-Year Jade before placing the egg within the swirling whirlpool. Using Lady Green Tide’s Jade Purification Vase, he slowly healed its damaged life force.

After more than ten thousand years of continuous nourishment, the egg’s injuries have fully recovered. However, during that time, both the holy monk and Lady Green Tide mysteriously disappeared, and since no one remained to remove the Purple Crystal Ten-Thousand-Year Jade coating, the eggshell gradually absorbed its essence over the millennia, becoming unbelievably hard. As a result, the Water Kirin inside is unable to break through the shell and hatch on its own.

To hatch the egg, it must be nurtured with Water Kirin Jade, allowing the newborn Water Kirin to finally break free.

"Damn it..." Marcus almost shouted in frustration. Why did this keep happening?

He already had the Dark Violet Sky Dragon egg, which still couldn’t hatch no matter what he tried, and now he’d somehow obtained another Divine Beast egg with the exact same problem. He honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Couldn’t fate have given him a Water Kirin that could actually hatch? As for this so-called Water Kirin Jade, he’d never even heard of such a thing before; it certainly wasn’t the kind of treasure someone could casually buy or ask around for, and it was downright infuriating.

Still, after thinking about it for a moment, he reluctantly comforted himself: at least the egg hadn’t hatched already. If it had, the Water Kirin would have long since disappeared into the vast ocean, and they never would have found it.

Not willing to give up so easily, Marcus immediately asked Alana about Water Kirin Jade.

Water Kirin Jade: According to legend, every Water Kirin that has lived for more than ten thousand years sheds a single tear once every five hundred years; if that tear falls upon a piece of ten-thousand-year-old jade, it transforms into Water Kirin Jade.

Basic Attributes: Triples the power of all water-element attacks. Grants complete immunity to water-element attacks. Increases fire resistance by 100%.

Special Attribute: Blessed by the fortune of the Water Kirin. Luck +80.

Marcus was completely speechless; realistically, what were the chances that something like this even existed? As expected, Alan’s final sentence completely extinguished what little hope he still had.

"Master, although legends of Water Kirin Jade have been passed down since ancient times, no one has ever confirmed the existence of a single piece."

"Wonderful," Marcus said, letting out a long, helpless sigh.

At this rate, he’d probably have an easier time finding another Water Kirin than tracking down a piece of Water Kirin Jade.

Shaking his head, he reluctantly stored the Water Kirin egg in his inventory before turning his attention to the Jade Purification Vase. Thankfully, unlike many treasures he’d found before, its attributes were already revealed; there was no need to identify it.

Jade Purification Vase: Black-tier Mythic Artifact. Required Level: 50.

Legend has it that this vase naturally formed hundreds of thousands of years ago within a deep-sea spirit cave, condensed from pure water-element energy; it possesses extraordinary divine power and is one of the Seven Ancient Sacred Vases.

Just as the treasure map had promised, they had truly uncovered one of the legendary Seven Ancient Sacred Vases. Filled with anticipation, everyone continued reading.

To their surprise, however, the Jade Purification Vase had no ordinary attribute bonuses at all; instead, it possessed only three unique skills.
