Chapter 518: The Sea Goddess Descends
Dragon’s Roar Isle was a treasure unlike any other, and it didn’t take long for people to fall in love with it.
The first settlers who arrived cleared out the monsters that roamed its forests and began building villages among the lush wilderness. The island’s fertile land, abundant wildlife, and wealth of natural resources made it an ideal place to live, and before long, more and more people arrived hoping to build a future there.
Unfortunately, they weren’t the only ones drawn to the island. In those days, the seas were lawless. Pirates, mercenaries, and ambitious warlords all coveted the Twin Wing Archipelago, each determined to claim it for themselves. Endless battles broke out over control of the islands, leaving Dragon’s Roar Isle trapped in constant conflict and preventing it from truly flourishing.
Everything changed when the Dragon Dynasty finally intervened. Its imperial fleet swept through the archipelago, crushing pirate fleets and driving out the mercenary bands that had plagued the region for years. Once the seas were finally brought under the Dragon Dynasty’s control, peace returned, allowing Dragon’s Roar Isle to prosper.
It quickly grew into the most prosperous island in the eastern seas, becoming both a famous vacation destination and a thriving center of trade. Thanks to its strategic location and natural harbor, it also served as one of the Dragon Dynasty’s most important naval bases.
Back then, the volcano at the island’s center wasn’t covered in snow. Although it had long since gone dormant, immense heat still radiated from deep within the mountain. Streams of scorching steam constantly escaped through vents near the summit, making it impossible for anyone below level fifty to safely approach the crater. Even so, experienced adventurers regularly ventured inside to mine Red Sulfur Goldstone, an exceptionally rare ore that came astonishingly close to Mythic-grade quality.
Then, fifteen hundred years ago, just as Dragon’s Roar Isle was enjoying its golden age, the impossible happened. The volcano, silent for thousands of years, erupted once more, but it wasn’t lava that burst from its depths, nor was it molten rock. Instead, a Super Divine Beast that had spent more than ten thousand years slumbering and growing within the volcano finally emerged.
The Blazing Three-Headed Beast.
It was roughly the size of an elephant, yet it moved through the sky with terrifying speed, leaving behind a blazing trail like a living comet. Its steel-like tail could slice through almost anything, sharper than the finest Divine Artifact or legendary demon blade.
Its three heads were even more terrifying: the center head wielded violet Celestial Fire, a heavenly flame said to descend from the skies themselves; the head on the right controlled black Demonic Fire, drawn from the deepest reaches of the earth; and the head on the left breathed crimson Mortal Fire, condensed from countless years of magma and volcanic flame. Together, the three fires made the creature a monster whose power rivaled legendary beings such as the Divine Phoenix and the Celestial Dragon.
After slumbering inside the volcano for over ten thousand years, the Blazing Three-Headed Beast emerged starving. When it looked down from the crater, it saw the thriving town of Dragon’s Roar spread across the island below, with thousands of people filling its streets and a massive military camp housing the island’s entire garrison nearby. To the beast, it was an irresistible feast. Why waste time hunting across the archipelago when so much prey had gathered in one place?
It let out an earth-shaking roar that echoed across the island before launching itself down the mountainside in a torrent of fire.
The massacre began: blood stained the streets, panicked screams rang out from every direction, and anyone unfortunate enough to cross its path became prey. Buildings collapsed beneath the devastation as flames swept through the town.
The eight thousand soldiers stationed on Dragon’s Roar Isle were helpless against a Super Divine Beast; their numbers meant nothing. Even the island’s three strongest commanders, each well above level ninety, were overwhelmed almost instantly. One was consumed by the violet Celestial Fire, another by the black Demonic Fire, and the last by the crimson Mortal Fire. Two of them were reduced to nothing in the blink of an eye, while the third, a veteran knight commander, managed to hold his ground for barely ten minutes before the relentless black flames finally burned through his defenses, leaving nothing behind but drifting ash.
"Incredible..."
Marcus muttered under his breath, unable to hide his amazement as he lightly slapped his knee. His eyes drifted toward Blackie, who was lazily sprawled across the deck, looking perfectly content with life.
’Could you become something like that one day?’ Then another thought crossed his mind: ’And what about that Dark Violet Sky Dragon egg? If it hatches... could it eventually grow into a monster on the same level?’
The thought made him even more eager to continue reading.
According to Silas’s account, less than twenty minutes after the Blazing Three-Headed Beast descended the mountain, nearly the entire garrison had been wiped out. Yet it still hadn’t had its fill. With the soldiers dead, its attention turned toward the town itself. The civilians who had survived the initial attack fled in every direction, but against a creature that could cross the sky in moments, escape was little more than wishful thinking.
Dragon’s Roar Isle stood on the brink of complete destruction, but then, just as despair settled over the island, a mighty dragon’s roar thundered across the sea. A brilliant azure dragon burst through the clouds, flying toward Dragon’s Roar Isle with astonishing speed, its immense body gleaming beneath the sunlight.
The moment the islanders recognized it, cries of joy erupted everywhere:
"The East Sea Azure Dragon!"
"The Sea Goddess has come!"
Hope returned in an instant, and many people collapsed to their knees, tears streaming down their faces as they clasped their hands together in grateful prayer.
"Thank the Goddess of Dreams..."
The East Sea Azure Dragon descended rapidly toward the battlefield, riding proudly upon its back a woman dressed in flowing blue robes, her graceful bearing as calm and untouchable as an immortal descending from the heavens. Behind her flew more than twenty elite warriors from Cloud-Mist Palace, while beneath the waves, over fifty powerful fishfolk champions surged toward the island, racing through the currents to join the battle.
The Sea Goddess herself had arrived: she stood on equal footing with the Wyvern Saint Knight Lyanna, serving as one of the legion commanders beneath the Goddess of Dreams and overseeing the vast oceans of the Dreamland Continent.
She was the founder of the legendary Cloud-Mist Palace, the creator of Paglan Mountain in the East Sea, and the ruler of the magnificent underwater capital known as Water Heaven City.
Although her rank matched Lyanna’s, Silas’s notes made one thing abundantly clear: among all of the Goddess of Dreams’ legion commanders, the Sea Goddess was widely acknowledged as the strongest, especially upon the open sea. There, with endless water at her command, very few beings in the world could hope to challenge her.
The instant she witnessed the devastation left by the Blazing Three-Headed Beast, she attacked without the slightest hesitation.
The beast was unquestionably powerful; as a Super Divine Beast, its three sacred flames made it one of the most terrifying creatures in existence. But the Sea Goddess was hardly alone: her mount, the East Sea Azure Dragon, was itself a legendary divine creature, and together with her elite warriors and the fishfolk champions fighting beneath the waves, the balance of power shifted immediately.
Had the battle taken place deep inland, the outcome might have been uncertain, but here, surrounded by the endless sea, the Sea Goddess held every possible advantage. The ocean itself answered her call, supplying her with an inexhaustible source of water-element energy, and she possessed the superior battlefield, superior support, and overwhelming control of the environment.
The battle ended almost as quickly as it had begun; in less than twenty minutes, the Blazing Three-Headed Beast was thoroughly defeated and forced into retreat, fleeing back into the depths of its volcanic lair.
Marcus couldn’t help grinning as he reached the end of the page. ’So... what happened to the beast after that?’
He eagerly turned to the next section.
