Chapter 1431 - 1425: This Move Is Too Ruthless
The next day when Vanessa Quinn came to the hospital again, Evander Lancaster realized she wasn’t joking around with her words.
Even though he kept up a cold face, even getting angry, Vanessa seemed determined. She continuously clung to his arm; every time he shook her off, she’d immediately cling back, still cheerfully greeting the passing colleagues in the courtyard.
"Hi, I’m your director’s fiancée, you probably saw me on TV."
Seeing the shock and surprise in the eyes of the hospital staff, Evander almost acted in the moment!
As a gentleman, he wouldn’t hit a woman, so he had no choice but to order two female doctors to hold Vanessa down so he could escape. Settling in the driver’s seat, Evander didn’t go straight home but called Nathan Moore.
Nathan Moore had always been the most scheming among the brothers. His ruthless methods had been something Evander couldn’t always agree with. Now, he finally realized some people really couldn’t be softened with compassion.
Walking into Nathan Moore’s office, Evander got straight to the point.
"Bro, I want to teach the Quinn Family a lesson. Can you help a brother out one more time?"
Dealing with the Quinn Enterprise couldn’t be done directly by his own company to prevent others from making accusations. If the Quinn Family learned a lesson, they could criticize their family’s reputation, possibly branding them as unfaithful.
Nathan tossed his pen onto the desk, lazily swiveling his chair and smiling, "We’re family; there’s no such thing as helping or not. I troubled you plenty with my issues back then."
"Thanks, bro." Evander sat down in the chair opposite Nathan.
Seeing his gloomy expression, Nathan guessed something was up, continuing to swivel in his chair as he casually asked,
"What’s the deal? That woman still won’t quit?"
Mentioning Vanessa made Evander so angry he could explode, gritting his teeth as he said, "Never seen a woman so shameless, pestering me daily at the hospital!"
"Then end it quickly, leave her no excuses to get close, won’t that do?"
"That’s what I thought, which is why I came to discuss it with you." Evander spoke the truth, "I’m planning to hold a press conference tomorrow to show those photos. No matter how convincing the Quinn Family tries to be, no one will believe them!"
"Hmm, not a bad idea." Nathan nodded, "But make sure news of some events involving Rina doesn’t get out, or some people will keep making a fuss."
"I know. So, bro, how do you plan to handle the Quinn Family?"
Hearing Evander’s question, Nathan picked up his pen again, a smile playing at the corners of his eyes. "I mean, the Quinn Family has worked hard to get where they are now, taking most of their lives. Suppressing... isn’t necessary."
Evander frowned. Without suppression, how could they be taught a lesson? As he pondered, Nathan spoke calmly,
"You know, since being with Titus Zane, my character has changed a lot, so let’s not suppress—let’s cut them some slack and collect some shares from shareholders instead; it’s not easy for anyone."
Hearing Nathan’s kind-sounding words, Evander almost spat blood. He really thought his brother had turned over a new leaf, but in reality, this method was more ruthless than suppression. He planned to gradually acquire their company.
Bro truly is ruthless.
"Alright then, bro, thank you for the trouble. I’ll head back now. Once Rina gives birth, I’ll treat you to dinner."
"Sure, then we brothers will have a good drink, not stopping until we’re drunk." Nathan lazily leaned back in his chair, understanding the feeling of wanting to rush home as a husband. Once Evander left, Nathan buried himself back into work, wanting to finish early to be with his wife.
Evander scheduled the press conference for just before the end of the workday, as Vanessa came over at that time every day. He intentionally chose this time so she could witness it firsthand.
For his image, Evander deliberately chose a formal suit today.
Navy blue suit and trousers, white shirt, with a tie.
It wasn’t really a formal press conference; Evander just invited some reporters. At 4:30 PM, which was the time Vanessa had been coming, and during this time, no patients came to see the doctor.
In formal attire, Evander, accompanied by several assistants, walked out of the hospital doors, stood on the steps, signaling to the cameras to calm down.
The reporters stopped speculating and began asking questions directly.
"Second Young Master, there’s a rumor that you disagree with the marriage alliance with the Quinn Family, and that the Lancaster Family wants to back out. Is this true?"
"Second Young Master, it’s said you’re hiding a mistress outside and therefore not interested in Miss Quinn..."
"Yes, Second Young Master, can you give us an answer before the conference starts?"
As soon as one question was asked, more followed in succession. Evander raised his hand again, kindly saying, "Please, my reporter friends, stay calm. The reason for this press conference is to address this issue!"
When Evander finished speaking, the reporters looked at each other in shock. Just as they were about to ask more questions, they heard Evander continue.
"Everyone, today I’ve invited you here to witness me, Evander Lancaster, announce that from today, I am ending my engagement with Miss Vanessa Quinn. The reason is certainly not what you’ve speculated. It’s because Miss Vanessa Quinn has done something morally wrong, leaving me no choice but to make this decision."
Once Evander finished, the questions from the reporters began again.
"Excuse me, Second Young Master, what morally wrong thing did Miss Quinn do to make you make such a big decision?"
"Yes, Second Young Master, does this mean Miss Quinn also has someone she likes, and you discovered something?"
Because of the Lancaster Family’s status, the reporters asked gently. Morally wrong clearly put a label on the Second Young Master; otherwise, they couldn’t think of anything beyond moral implications that would matter to a man.
"Everyone, please settle down!" Once more, Evander raised his hand. For the sake of the "truth," the reporters obediently silenced themselves.
Holding a photo and recording device, they fixed their attention on Evander, afraid of missing anything.
"The incident goes like this!" Without a microphone, Evander had to raise his voice, "My fiancée, Miss Vanessa Quinn, actually went behind my back to a nightclub to hire gigolos!"
"What? How could this be! Hire gigolos?"
"No way? Miss Quinn comes across as so mature, could she really do such a thing?"
This is how society is; if a man goes to a nightclub to find women, people might call him a playboy at most. But if a woman looks for men, it’s different—words like slut or promiscuous automatically come to mind.
Vanessa, from afar, saw a crowd gathered at the hospital entrance. When she drove over and opened the car door, what she heard was Evander’s statement about "hiring gigolos at nightclubs!"
