Chapter 1435 - 1429: Grandson
After office hours, the hospital corridor leading to the operating room was still crowded with several people.
Violet Zimmerman sat on a bench calmly watching the direction of the operating room.
Joseph Lancaster sat next to her in the same posture, while Juliana Lancaster paced nervously back and forth in the corridor.
"In-law, come sit down. With today’s advanced technology, everything will be fine." Violet couldn’t stand it any longer and politely called out. Juliana looked up and smiled.
"I can’t sit still."
With her daughter in surgery, how could she not be worried as a mother?
"Come sit down. Evander is in there too; everything will be fine." Violet continued to comfort her, and Juliana finally walked over reluctantly and sat down. Just a few minutes after she sat down, a woman’s cries came from the operating room, and Juliana hurriedly stood up and walked towards the operating room door.
Inside the operating room, the woman lying on the delivery bed was already drenched in sweat. Although it was a premature birth, the baby was too large, making a natural delivery difficult.
Evander Lancaster had also changed into surgical attire, staying by the bedside, tightly gripping Sophia Hamilton’s hand.
"Director, maybe... a cesarean? The baby is too big..."
They had seen the baby’s scalp long ago, yet it simply wouldn’t come out.
Hearing his woman’s weakening cries, the man who often stood by the operating table felt nervous for the first time.
He raised his hand to wipe the sweat from Sophia’s forehead, as Evander ran out of ideas.
"Sophia, does it hurt a lot? Should we do a cesarean?"
"Evander Lancaster..." Enduring the waves of pain, Sophia gritted her teeth and said with difficulty, "You’re only asking me now... Did you get my permission when you planted the seed..."
Originally, delivering for the director’s wife was a tense matter, let alone with the director present. But hearing Sophia’s retort, the doctors and nurses couldn’t help but laugh.
Evander, now beyond caring about anything else, had eyes only for Sophia, wiping her sweat again, he said firmly, "C-section!"
At most, they’d only have this one child; he wouldn’t let his woman suffer again!
The doctors and anesthetist began preparing for the surgery, with Evander staying beside Sophia, tightly holding her hand. Although Sophia had fallen asleep by the time the baby was delivered, hearing the newborn’s cry and seeing the baby covered in bloodstains, Evander was moved to tears.
When the medical staff cleaned and wrapped the baby in a blanket and brought it to Evander, he hesitated to take the new life being offered to him.
Amused by Evander’s wooden reaction, the nurse joked, "Director, what’s up? It’s your own son, why not hold him?"
Evander snapped back to reality, reached out to take the baby, hesitated, and finally, after several tries, took the child. Looking at his son’s chubby face, Evander burst out laughing.
His woman had done well; she’d given birth to such a chubby son, adorable at first sight!
In the corridor, seeing Evander come out holding the baby, the three elders approached him.
"Evander, is the baby a boy or a girl?" With a new addition to the Lancaster Family, Violet’s face lit up with joy.
Juliana already knew it was a boy, so she stood aside without competing with grandma for her grandson.
"A son!" Evander looked down at the sleeping baby in his arms with tenderness. When his mother, Violet, reached out, he handed the child to Juliana instead.
"Mom, your grandson."
