"Humph, consider yourself enlightened, or else see how I’ll deal with you!" Sophia Hamilton feigned a tooth-gnashing threat.

Evander Lancaster’s eyes twinkled with laughter, "If I’m not enlightened, how would you deal with me?"

Sophia hummed again, looking ahead, "Divorce you, kick you out onto the street, leave you homeless, anyway, you’ve given me all your assets!"

Evander raised an eyebrow in feigned surprise, "Oh? That harsh? What about our son then? Are you willing to let him be born without a father?"

Sophia glared at Evander, "Who said my son wouldn’t have a father? I have so much money, I can just find him another one!"

"You wouldn’t dare!" Evander gritted his teeth. Though it’s a joke, it still didn’t sit well with him; his own children wouldn’t be allowed to call anyone else their father!

"What’s there to be afraid of?" Sophia tilted her chin in defiance.

"Little rascal!" Evander muttered under his breath, gritting his teeth as he lowered his handsome face and captured the offered soft lips.

Ever since their son came into the world, a strange and wonderful feeling emerged, even as a new father, he deeply realized a sense of responsibility.

It’s the responsibility a father has for his son—not hoping for him to bring glory to the family, just hoping he grows up safely and happily.

Suddenly, he understood ’Uncle’—when he was young, their father forced him and his brother to study hard, while Uncle often secretly took them to the park...

Perhaps ’Uncle’ had the same thought as he did, wanting his brother and him to have a happy childhood, not facing books every day.

...

Despite being neglected by her daughter-in-law, Violet Zimmerman still instructed the housekeeper to deliver meals on time the next day.

Mrs. Zhang brought breakfast and lunch, and in the evening she came along with Mrs. Zhang. This time Violet didn’t personally set the table but placed her bag on the sofa and picked up her grandson.

Her grandson, she hadn’t properly held him before!

Watching her professionally dressed mother-in-law holding her son, Sophia felt something indescribable.

Women naturally have a halo of motherhood, even the strongest of women reveal their gentle and kind nature when they remove their masks.

Violet sat on the sofa, looking at the little guy in her arms, her stern features softened as she occasionally touched his tiny hands and little face, muttering to herself.

"This child is so cute, Evander, once Sophia is discharged, you should move back home. There’s plenty of space and it’s convenient for looking after him; I can see my grandson every day."

Sophia...

A spoonful of soup halted at her lips, her warning gaze fixed on Evander, as if warning him that allowing her to hold the grandson was her limit, don’t overstep!

Evander chuckled while eating, "Mom, I’m used to living outside; living at home is inconvenient."

Violet looked displeasedly at her son.

"What’s inconvenient? You don’t like living with me, there are so many rooms at home, take your pick!"

Evander glanced at Sophia, asking softly.

"How about it? Do you want to consider it?" The old estate is made up of standalone villas, spacious and serviced.

"No way!"

Sophia murmured softly.

Evander wasn’t picky about where they lived; he had moved out previously because he was sulking with his mother.

Continuing to eat, he said, "Mom, I’ll stay in the apartment, I’m used to it."

Violet touched her grandson’s little hand, snorting in displeasure, "Humph! Used to it? My grandson’s so precious, you’re letting him live in a cramped place? Fine, if you don’t come back home, I’ll take my grandson back, call my in-laws too; the two old ladies can keep him entertained!"
