Chapter 1508 - 1500: As Far as the Eye Can See, Eternal Love (Part 21)
If it weren’t for the warmth beside her, Violet Zimmerman would have thought Daxton Lancaster hadn’t come back to the room all night.
After getting dressed and tidied up, Violet came downstairs. As soon as she stepped onto the staircase, she saw Daxton sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper.
The morning sun streamed in through the open doors and windows, casting over the man. Despite being a lovely scene, the man bathed in sunlight gave off an air of loneliness.
"Daxton, you’re up so early," Violet greeted proactively, still having some qualms about the events of the previous night.
Married for two days, yet her husband hadn’t touched her. If word got out, who knew how people might mock her.
Daxton raised his head, watching the woman in a pink suit walk down the stairs step by step, the corners of his lips curved slightly.
"Why not sleep a bit longer?"
Just then, an older servant passed by the hall. Hearing what the man said, the servant instinctively glanced up at Violet.
The man asking his newlywed wife to sleep more, everyone understood the implication, but Violet had a bitterness she couldn’t express—clearly, they hadn’t done anything.
She also curved her lips, saying, "I’m awake, so I got up."
"Alright, let’s go eat," Daxton put down the newspaper and stood up. The slender man in a gray suit looked even leaner.
Violet quickly walked down the stairs and followed him out.
At the dining table, the elderly master continually instructed Daxton to give Violet more food, "Daxton, let Violet eat more. Only with good health can she bear children."
The elder’s favoritism was well-known among all in the Lancaster Family.
Eva Hayes was displeased watching Daxton serve food to his wife, and her mood worsened.
When her daughter-in-law was pregnant, she didn’t receive such treatment. Though they were both granddaughters-in-law, the treatment was different. Eva wasn’t particularly strict but was visibly irritated.
"She just came through the door, hasn’t even settled yet, how could she get pregnant so quickly!"
Before Daxton could say anything, the elder was already displeased, putting down his chopsticks and glaring at his second daughter-in-law as he unhappy remarked, "Daxton is young and robust, maybe his wife is pregnant already!"
"Cough, cough..." Violet had just swallowed a mouthful of food but choked on it after the elder’s words, turning her body away to cover her mouth and coughing incessantly.
Daxton put down his chopsticks, gently patting Violet’s back as he laughed and said, "Grandpa, do you think planting radishes, where one grows immediately? Even with radishes, it wouldn’t be as quick as you say."
"Why not?" the elder snapped his chopsticks onto the table, glaring sharply as he seriously remarked to Daxton.
"You’re young, strong, and vigorous; with a bit of effort, next year grandpa can hold his great-grandchild."
"Grandpa, you can’t be so sure, what if it’s a great-granddaughter?" Daxton continued to hold Violet’s back, smiling as he asked.
"Hmph!" the elder grabbed his chopsticks and took a bite of meat, speaking boldly, "Whether it’s a great-grandson or great-granddaughter, as long as it’s a descendant of Rupert Lancaster, I’ll be happy!"
After the elder spoke, Atlas Lancaster, seated at the same table, buried his head, feeling guilty.
The elder probably didn’t know about Daemon Lancaster’s matter. If he knew the truth, given his temperament, he might not expel the child but would not let him share in this generation’s naming. Yet, the elder’s tone seemed to hint at knowledge, making Atlas’s heart constantly race.
"Hmph! You’re biased!" Eva Hayes grumbled in displeasure.
