At another dining table, Daemon Lancaster listened to the Old Master say this, clutching his chopsticks tightly.

He silently vowed that sooner or later he would become the Family Head of the Lancaster Family. That position should rightfully be his, and he wanted the Old Master to see that he was more capable than Daxton Lancaster.

"Ah, my partiality isn’t just from one day to the next," the Old Master sighed as he picked up some food, not bothered by his daughter-in-law’s complaints.

"Who let Daxton be the eldest grandson?"

After the Old Master finished speaking, Eva Hayes became even more dissatisfied, looking at the Old Master with defiance and saying.

"Dad, clearly our Daemon is the eldest grandson. No matter how partial you are, you can’t change that fact. All the children are here now, have you thought about how Daemon feels when you talk like this?"

With a snap, the chopsticks in Daemon Lancaster’s hand broke, and Victoria Thornton placed her hand on his noticeably trembling hand, gently shaking her head.

The Old Master paused, looked meaningfully at his second son, Atlas Lancaster, and said,

"Atlas knows the rules of the Lancaster Family, talk to your wife about it when there’s nothing going on."

The Old Master’s words were twofold in meaning, though some still remained unaware.

Although thinking the Old Master knew nothing, Atlas Lancaster felt a bit guilty and immediately glared unpleasantly at his wife, Eva Hayes, chastising her, "What’s a woman doing interfering for? Whether Daemon is the eldest grandson or not has nothing to do with you!"

Although Daemon Lancaster himself didn’t know he wasn’t born to Eva Hayes, she knew well in her heart. She glared unhappily at her husband before picking up her chopsticks to continue eating.

The breakfast was not very pleasant, and on the way back, Violet Zimmerman asked Daxton Lancaster, "Daxton, why does everyone have to gather to eat? Wouldn’t there be a lot less conflict if everyone ate in their own homes?"

All the Lancasters went to eat at the Old Master’s side because it was a rule that had been left behind for decades. The Old Master was used to it, so he didn’t want to change.

Seeing Violet Zimmerman’s puzzled look, Daxton Lancaster laughed and retorted, "Are you so eager to use the rights of the family matriarch?"

"Am not!" Violet Zimmerman said bashfully and chided, "Isn’t it said that distant relatives smell sweeter than close ones? If we lived far apart, wouldn’t there be none of these troubles!"

"That won’t do." Daxton Lancaster sighed, paying attention to the road ahead, "The Lancaster Family is a large family. Living together is a rule left by the ancestors, it hasn’t been changed for many years. If it comes to me, how can I change it? Wouldn’t that break the rule left by the ancestors?"

"Humph! Old-fashioned!" Violet Zimmerman dissented, pouting, "When I manage the household, I’ll abolish this rule. Everyone lives their own lives, those who get along will meet more, those who don’t can just be neighbors!"

Listening to the woman’s ambitious thoughts, Daxton Lancaster turned his phoenix-shaped eyes to her, smiling, "If you want to change it, you’ll have to wait until after I’m gone. As long as I’m here, this rule won’t change."

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

As soon as Daxton Lancaster finished speaking, Violet Zimmerman reached out and covered his mouth, the man being not short, made Violet Zimmerman stand on tiptoe, one hand grasping Daxton Lancaster’s arm and the other covering his lips, frowning as she glared at him and continued.

"We just got married, yet you’re talking about life and death. Daxton Lancaster, what do you mean, do you want to make me a widow!"

Daxton Lancaster was destined from birth to take over as Family Head. All the Lancasters showed him reverence, even his parents. It was the first time someone had scolded him like this, and it was his newlywed wife.

At this moment, Daxton Lancaster didn’t feel any unhappiness, but rather felt very sweet.
