Chapter 957: She Can’t Leave
"Ten days from now is your wedding with Finn, I might not be able to come back for it."
"I know." Julian Ford replied, doing this to ensure Fiona Ford wouldn’t appear at his and Finn Chandler’s wedding.
Fiona braced herself against his unfeeling words, a pain searing through her heart.
"Julian, what do you mean by this?"
"How can I not attend your wedding?"
"Fiona."
Julian called softly, turning around, his gaze growing colder bit by bit as it fell upon Fiona.
Fiona was brought into The Ford Family when she was very young.
Back then, she probably didn’t even have memories yet.
All she knew was that when her memories began, Julian was always around.
They grew up together, living in The Ford Family home.
He had never spoken to her with such a cold tone, nor had he ever glared at her so indifferently.
Facing this confrontation, Fiona inexplicably felt guilty.
"I was just thinking, as your sister, I should attend your wedding."
"But if you’re sending me to Solaria, then I’ll go."
Fiona pressed her lips together, complying with Julian’s wishes, and spoke.
She was scared.
Julian looked at her like this, and sent her away from Solaria, knowing she had harmed Finn behind the scenes.
She feared his confrontation with her.
"Julian, do you really love Miss Chambers?"
Fiona gazed at Julian’s face, which she never tired of seeing, and smiled as she asked.
Julian didn’t respond immediately, his silence igniting hope in Fiona’s heart.
All these years, Julian had been alone, no partners, no girlfriends.
She always felt he was waiting for her.
Yet she waited until thirty, and still never saw Julian confess to her.
"Miss Chambers is pregnant with your child."
Fiona continued to smile and said, "But when it comes to feelings, I hope you think through it clearly."
"If you don’t love her that much, don’t harm yourself or Miss Chambers."
"Sister is overthinking."
Julian calmly took Fiona’s words in stride.
His demeanor as cold as his voice.
"I’m serious about Finn."
"Oh!"
Fiona noticeably felt the smile on her face fade; she wanted to say something but didn’t know what.
Tell Julian she loved him for many years, always waiting for him to marry her.
Or tell Julian about her dissatisfaction.
"Since I have to leave Solaria and can’t attend your wedding."
Finally, Fiona wisely chose not to voice those unspeakable words, she smiled at Julian, and said, "Sister wishes you and Miss Chambers a long and happy life together."
"Thank you, sister." Julian’s tone finally softened a bit, and he turned away, heading into the office.
Standing in the corridor, Fiona watched the office door close as Julian shut it, a sudden pain surfaced from the depths of her heart.
Why did Julian choose Finn, such a deceitful woman!
Julian was planning to send her away from Solaria for a proper wedding, but whether she truly leaves is yet to be seen.
The day’s work concluded quickly.
Previously, Julian was immersed in work, unconsciously losing track of time; often during off-hours, he’d still be in the office working overtime.
Now, whether it’s his secretary or other department managers, they notice Julian leaves as soon as it’s time to clock out.
Sometimes, even before off-hours, he was already gone.
