Chapter 951: That’s It?
Finn Chandler got a call from the police station and didn’t feel much of anything.
She was never afraid, and she definitely wasn’t going to feel any kind of relief.
Serena Sullivan called and asked Finn.
"You’re just going to let it go like this?"
"There’s no evidence."
Finn said flatly, "Pearl Chambers is too sly, she refused to admit anything no matter what."
Even in the hospital room, even if she had rattled Pearl, Pearl still never directly admitted that she’d pushed Mrs. Chambers.
"You’re going to wait until Mrs. Chambers wakes up and then talk?"
There was another witness, and that was Mrs. Chambers.
Listening to Serena’s suggestion, Finn smiled faintly.
"No need to make it that troublesome."
"This matter is over." Finn sneered; she had no intention of letting Pearl off that easily.
"But Pearl’s business isn’t over."
Serena paused, knowing Finn still intended to go after Pearl.
"I don’t want to let her go."
Finn added another line.
She had given Pearl and Mrs. Chambers chance after chance, and they didn’t cherish them.
If she didn’t do something, if she didn’t get ruthless with them, she’d only have more trouble later on.
"Teach her a lesson, let her see that when I get cold-blooded I even dare to lay hands on my own closest family."
This was the ruthlessness ingrained in the Chambers Family’s bones.
Finn was like that, Pearl was like that, and the old Mr. Chambers was even more so.
"Mm."
Serena responded. The Chambers Family’s internal affairs were not something an outsider like her should meddle in, but there were still some things she had to remind Finn of.
"Finn, those people in the mall that day were deliberately cleared out."
The Ford Mall had been far too quiet that day, and it wasn’t because business was bad; someone had driven people away before they arrived.
"I compared the data for foot traffic in Ford Mall for that whole week."
"Someone was deliberately waiting for us."
"They staged such a big show, and the person they were waiting for was you."
"Your mother and sister were just pawns."
"Mm." Finn agreed with what Serena said. "I already guessed."
After Mrs. Chambers fell down the stairs and the security guards and reporters all showed up, Finn had already guessed that someone was orchestrating everything behind the scenes.
So that day when she went to The Ford Corporation, she’d given Fiona Ford a slap.
If someone treated her well, she would repay them double.
If someone hurt her, she would naturally pay them back double.
"Serena, I’ll be careful, don’t worry."
As Finn spoke, she lowered her head and looked at her lower belly.
"Whoever she is, whatever she’s after, she can’t do anything to me! And she definitely can’t drive a wedge between me and Julian Ford."
"Because..."
She was carrying Julian Ford’s child.
This child was her greatest talisman.
Only, if the talisman were gone, she didn’t know if Julian Ford would still protect her.
After Finn and Serena finished their call, drowsiness washed over her. She went to lie down and rest, and just as the sky was getting dark, Julian Ford came back.
The two of them hadn’t seen each other all day, so naturally there was some intimate, lingering time between them.
The TV in the room turned on with a click, and a piece of news popped up, related to Pearl Chambers.
It was those photos of Pearl.
Finn had still left Pearl a little bit of dignity, picking a few shots that weren’t too explicit, but even so, with different men as the main focus in each, you could clearly see how filthy Pearl’s private life was.
Pearl herself hadn’t expected this. She’d agreed to Finn’s request and gone to the police station to change her statement.
Right after Pearl finished recording her statement, Finn sent those photos to the media.
Pearl would probably break down when she saw them.
Yes, Pearl had broken down. She felt she’d fallen into Finn’s trap and been played.
She called Finn one time after another.
