Chapter 898: Leave Her With Nothing
Simon Sterling had long been planning to go after Kane Group; this time he just had an even better reason.
Under The Dowager Kane’s control, Kane Group was already on a downward slide. After Simon Sterling took back The Sterling Corporation shares in her hands, Kane Group declined even more. Once June Kane went to prison and The Dowager Kane fell ill, Kane Group started collapsing at a speed you could see with the naked eye.
Taking down Kane Group was no difficulty at all.
But Simon Sterling wanted more—he wanted to acquire Kane Group and turn it into part of The Sterling Corporation.
First, he had to get hold of Kane Group’s shares.
Half of Kane Group’s shares were in the old lady’s hands, and even after she fell ill, she was still gripping them tight.
That was exactly why Mrs. Kane kept her imprisoned in The Ford Family’s house instead of throwing her into some nursing home outside.
Mrs. Kane had some shares too, but not a lot. The rest belonged to Mr. Kane and a bunch of miscellaneous small shareholders.
The small shareholders were easy to deal with. As soon as they saw Kane Group going downhill, all they wanted was to sell and cash out. When someone came to buy, they sold as long as the price was acceptable.
Mr. Kane was the same!
The Ford Family was full of useless trash; Wayne Jennings was, and so was Mr. Kane. All thanks to The Dowager Kane’s way of raising them.
Mr. Kane was slightly better than Wayne; he had a lot of women outside, but it was all just spending money to have fun. At least he didn’t go as far as Wayne Jennings, who even got people killed.
Mr. Kane was still a useless piece of trash. With so much happening in The Ford Family—his son dead, the old lady paralyzed in bed—he was supposed to be the head of the household, yet he never stepped up. Instead, he kept taking money from home and ignored everything going on with the company.
When Wyatt Sterling found him, he was in a private room, drinking with a woman in his arms.
Wyatt Sterling hadn’t even opened his mouth when Mr. Kane asked how much they could give him.
So he knew perfectly well Wyatt Sterling was there to buy the shares in his hands!
Wyatt Sterling quoted a price, and unlike the other shareholders, Mr. Kane didn’t even haggle or try to squeeze out more.
He directly asked for the contract from Wyatt Sterling and signed his name.
Wyatt Sterling really couldn’t understand what Mr. Kane was thinking. The Ford Family had always held a high status in the Imperial Capital and now had over a hundred years of history.
Yet as a Ford, Mr. Kane just sold off Kane Group with a single sentence.
"The Ford Family should’ve been finished a long time ago!"
Before Wyatt Sterling could ask, Mr. Kane spoke first. "Better to take the money and enjoy myself properly!"
As he spoke, Mr. Kane wrapped his arm around the girl beside him and started kissing her again.
The scene was way too "spectacular," so Wyatt Sterling didn’t stay long. He left, and once outside, he called Simon Sterling.
"You got it done, right?"
On the other end, Simon Sterling’s first sentence was firm and certain.
Wyatt Sterling wasn’t surprised; his father had always been this formidable.
"Yes. Do we need to go straight to Kane Group now?"
"Not enough."
Simon Sterling replied.
"No rush."
Wyatt Sterling froze for a moment. Did Simon Sterling still want the shares in the old lady’s hands?
But The Dowager Kane was in Mrs. Kane’s grasp; there was no way they could see her.
"Spread the word that Mr. Kane has already sold his shares to us."
Simon Sterling added more instructions.
Wyatt Sterling was puzzled, but he didn’t ask further.
Later, after thinking it over and still not understanding what Simon Sterling was aiming at, he called Serena Sullivan.
After listening, Serena Sullivan gave a soft laugh. "Dad naturally wants the shares in The Dowager Kane’s hands, but Mrs. Kane wants them too."
"Tell me, once she hears Dad has bought up the other Kane Group shareholders’ stocks, do you think she’ll panic?"
Mrs. Kane would definitely be frantic, and she would use every possible method to get her hands on Kane Group’s shares.
But The Dowager Kane was stubborn. She hadn’t handed the shares to Mrs. Kane before, and even after being abused and tortured by her, she still didn’t give them up. Mrs. Kane would probably have to resort to some harsher tricks.
"But Mrs. Kane will definitely get those shares in the end."
"And the moment she gets them will be the moment she loses."
With Serena Sullivan’s explanation, Wyatt Sterling immediately understood.
Simon Sterling wanted Kane Group’s shares, but even more than that, he wanted Mrs. Kane utterly crushed—completely ruined, with nothing left!
