She was too careless and fell into the trap set by Simon Sterling.

She felt that it wouldn’t be long before she would be exposed and left with nothing.
Serena saw Mrs. Kane being taken out of Kane Group and turned off the video.
This was the outcome she anticipated.
From the moment Simon Sterling bought Mr. Kane’s shares, he was waiting for Mrs. Kane to become desperate, for her to pressure The Dowager Kane once more.
Mrs. Kane didn’t even know that no matter how many times she replaced Kane Group’s staff, there was always someone placed by Simon, even telling the secret of her having an illegitimate daughter to The Dowager Kane, all captured on video.
"I sent the DNA test report of Mrs. Kane and Nina Monroe to Mr. Kane."

Serena felt Nina wasn’t bad, she might show mercy, but Ethan wouldn’t.
