Adrian’s eyes grew even darker, and he couldn’t help but lower his head, showering the girl’s porcelain skin with hungry kisses.

"Cecilia, do you think if we have a baby girl, she’d be as cute as you?"

Being asked this way by him, Cecilia’s mind emptied completely—how could she find even a sliver of clarity to think about such things right now?

She couldn’t help but let out a sharp cry.

"Stop... let’s talk about kids after you stop..."

Adrian let out a low chuckle.

"Be good. If I stop, how are we going to have kids?"

Cecilia was both embarrassed and flustered, but had no way to deal with Adrian at all.

The fire between them only burned hotter and hotter, making the air boil.

"Then... it’d be best if we have twins—a boy and a girl, two little cuties. That would be wonderful."

Cecilia had a younger brother, and as the elder sister, she’d taken care of so many things for Evan. Even though he was a good kid, it was still hard work being the big sister.

So, selfishly, if there were two kids, it’d be best if they were siblings—a brother and a sister. Girls wouldn’t have to worry so much, and being doted on by the whole family would be such happiness.

Of course, doting isn’t spoiling. Cecilia didn’t believe in raising girls in luxury while raising boys tough, nor did she value sons over daughters. She hoped that both would get equal treatment materially, and that they would both be guided toward spiritual richness through education.

There are so many good people in this world, but also plenty of bad ones. If children are spoiled to the point of pure innocence, it’s not a good thing. Kids should be taught to grow, to observe subtlety in people, to be wary but never malicious.

...

Maybe she was just used to worrying—just running through these thoughts in her mind, Cecilia already felt that raising a child wouldn’t be easy.

Adrian saw Cecilia lost in her own world again, and an even deeper urge to conquer surged within him.

"Cecilia... look at me."

He cupped her head, turning it to face him, and thrust forward fiercely.

Too... too fast...

Her mind exploded like fireworks. It caught her so off guard that tears welled up in her eyes, unstoppable, as she clawed blindly at his back.

"Ugh... I can’t do this anymore. Go away..."

Adrian held her gently by the shoulders, his gaze burning like a wolf’s.

"Didn’t you say you wanted twins—a boy and a girl? Gotta keep working hard then, Mrs. Law."

"..."

His words were low and hoarse, soaked through with raw sensuality.

Cecilia’s eyes widened, but Adrian silenced her again with a kiss.

...

Time seemed to speed up, and before they knew it, night had fallen.

Cecilia felt like her whole body was falling apart; only then did the "battle" finally come to a halt.

When she woke, Adrian was gently drying her body, wrapping her up tightly in a huge towel.

...

Cecilia felt a pain that really couldn’t be ignored, and in spite, she jerked her head up and bit Adrian hard on the wrist.

"Adrian, are you sure you’re not part tiger or something?"

Adrian’s fox-like eyes narrowed, a playful smile dusting his lips like a sky of stars.

"No, I’m a dragon."

"Haven’t you heard, darling? Dragons are just snakes who’s cultivated. You should know a thing or two about a snake’s nature."

Cecilia instantly broke out in goosebumps, reminded for some reason of biology class, where she learned snakes are different than other animals... they even have two reprodu—um, ahem.

She looked down, noticing the red and purple marks on her exposed arms, and glared at Adrian helplessly once more.

"Honestly, you really should’ve been born a dog. There must’ve been a mistake during reincarnation..."

"Alright. Whatever my wife says, goes. Even if I’m not a dog, you can always work hard to give birth to a pair of puppies for me."

"..."

Why is it that whatever I say, Adrian always finds a way to twist it around...

Cecilia watched him play innocent and rolled her eyes in exasperation.

But in a lover’s eyes, even an eye roll is as charming as rippling water.

Adrian’s smile deepened at the corners of his lips; as soon as she let her guard down, he leaned in and dropped a tender kiss on her ear.

"Mrs. Law, let me dry your hair for you, okay?"

"No."

Cecilia puffed out her cheeks and, childish as ever, flopped down onto the sofa, wrapping the huge towel even tighter around herself.

But Adrian just gave another quiet chuckle, got up with total ease to fetch the negative-ion hair dryer, set it to medium, and started drying Cecilia’s hair for her.

"Cecilia, your hair smells so nice too."

"I told you, that’s just the shampoo. You have it too."

She protested, but seeing how readily he pampered her, Cecilia stretched out like a queen, shifting into a more comfortable pose and propping her chin with one hand, reclining with a sidelong glance.

"No, it’s still your scent that’s best."

Adrian’s lips curled into a crooked smile and he leaned closer, taking a deep breath at the nape of Cecilia’s neck.

She blushed furiously at his satisfied look—and as if she’d heard their conversation, Mimi scrambled out of her cat bed, fluffing her chubby little legs, and ran over to join the fun.

She even mimicked Adrian, leaping onto Cecilia’s shoulder, blinking her mismatched green and blue eyes, and tried to sniff what was different about her today.

"Meow, meow~"

...

"See, you don’t even dare hold Mimi down. It’s your fault—you’re always smelling me for no reason, even the cat’s picking up bad habits."

Cecilia muttered softly.

Adrian scooped up snowy-white Mimi, moving carefully. Mimi stared at him, not quite understanding, and still wanting to nuzzle closer.

Seeing how eager the little thing was to imitate him, Adrian couldn’t help but smile.

"Good girl, Mimi. I’ll give you some fish jerky in a minute."

Whether she understood or not, Mimi finally settled and obediently squatted off to the side.

Adrian picked the hair dryer up again and went back to drying Cecilia’s hair.

The moonlight outside fell softly on the couple and their cat—a picture of peace and warmth, like a poem painted in light.

...

Night wind still chilled the winter darkness.

Tyson Law, who’d never worked overtime before, was acting completely out of character. Though it was late, he was still in The Law Group’s offices, drowning his sorrows in alcohol.

The smell of liquor clung to him, the arrogance usually in his eyes now worn down, his striking features shadowed by desolation and loneliness.

Just then, a loud noise erupted outside his office door.

"Miss Fiona, Second Young Master said you can’t go in!"

"Get out of my way! I’m Tyson’s wife—and I’m carrying his child. What right do you have to stop me?"

Tyson’s face was full of gloom; hearing the commotion outside, his brows knitted even tighter.

As the arguing outside reached a fever pitch, he suddenly threw open the door.

"Tyson, you’re finally willing to see me?"

Fiona’s beautiful eyes filled with delight. Smelling the strong scent of alcohol surrounding him, all her earlier bluster faded. She gazed at him pitifully and held out the insulated lunch box.

"Tyson, working overtime is bad for your health. I made your favorite—cola chicken wings and soup. Will you try some?"
