Chapter 405: Clearly a Shameless Wretch!
Mona Summers stood beside Cecilia Vaughn, and upon hearing Chloe Alden’s arrogant insults towards her friend, she immediately got angry.
"Chloe Alden, who do you think you are? What does it matter to you that our Cecilia likes drinking soda water?"
Mona Summers’ enchanting eyes swept over Chloe Alden with a hint of disdain in her expression.
"Of course, I understand what you mean, someone like you can’t find a man willing to spend a hundred million US dollars on you! No wonder you act like a bitter woman, leaving the house without brushing your teeth, spewing foul words as soon as you open your mouth!"
"You—"
Chloe Alden’s face turned ashen with anger.
She raised her hand, almost wanting to slap Mona Summers.
Cecilia Vaughn saw this and instantly stepped forward, her fair wrist quickly pressing down on Chloe Alden’s arm.
"Chloe Alden, you’re talking about me. If you really want to fight, I’m up for it!"
Cecilia Vaughn’s eyes were as cold as ice in the depths of winter.
Faced with her piercing gaze, Chloe Alden felt her anger rising but her momentum dwindling.
Recalling the last time Cecilia Vaughn threw a man taller than her over her shoulder, Chloe Alden became a bit apprehensive, only able to swallow her anger and bluff.
"Cecilia Vaughn, you’re ruthless! I won’t be fooled by you!"
Fiona Vaughn was much more shrewd than Chloe Alden. Seeing the tense atmosphere, she immediately stepped forward meekly, casting an apologetic and aggrieved glance at Cecilia Vaughn.
"Sister, a gentleman uses words, not fists. How could you suggest resolving conflicts with violence?"
Given that Fiona Vaughn was pregnant and Chloe Alden was a pampered heiress, their combat abilities were nothing compared to Cecilia Vaughn and Mona Summers.
Cecilia Vaughn looked at her coldly, her voice carrying an imposing tone.
"A gentleman uses words, not fists? Fiona Vaughn, don’t tell me you’re blind and didn’t see your good friend trying to slap Mona Summers."
"Didn’t you stop it already? Even in the law, something that hasn’t happened can’t be judged..."
...
Fiona Vaughn’s eyes glistened with moisture, looking pitifully at Cecilia Vaughn.
"Sister, you are magnanimous, don’t stoop to the level of Chloe, who is used to being spoiled."
"Spoiled child?"
Cecilia Vaughn looked at her and Chloe Alden with a tilted smile, her voice dripping with irony.
"A child older than me? Has our country’s age limit for special needs children increased?"
Chloe Alden: "..."
Fiona Vaughn: "..."
Chloe Alden was so furious that she couldn’t even speak.
"You, you—"
The atmosphere became awkwardly silent, with only Mona Summers laughing heartily.
"Hahaha, I love watching you take people down, Cecilia."
No woman likes having her age brought up in public, especially in front of someone she dislikes.
Chloe Alden was just one year older than Cecilia Vaughn, but having it pointed out so blatantly, she felt utterly humiliated.
What’s more, Cecilia Vaughn was also subtly calling her, mentally challenged!
...
Chloe Alden’s face turned red with anger, and her once beautiful face twisted with jealousy, becoming somewhat menacing!
"Cecilia Vaughn, why are you so arrogant? You’re just lucky to have married The Eldest Young Master Law!"
"With that hundred million US dollars, he would give it to anyone who is his wife. I’m telling you, The Eldest Young Master Law doesn’t really love you. No man with functioning eyes would like someone as malicious and a former convict like you!"
Cecilia Vaughn smiled coldly, lips curling slightly.
"Sorry, Miss Alden, I forgive you for speculating about my private relationship with Adrian, but only because of your limited imagination."
Chloe Alden, again insulted as having a mental deficiency, felt her heart burning with rage, but Cecilia Vaughn continued calmly.
"Miss Alden, you should update your words about my imprisonment. Since Fiona Vaughn’s mother went to jail, my case from three years ago has been overturned. If you continue to defame me, I have no problem facing you in court."
"Of course, I remember your father is running for the next mayor. I wonder if he would pass out from having a daughter like you ruining everything."
"You’re using my dad’s campaign to threaten me! Cecilia Vaughn, you really have no shame—"
Chloe Alden’s father, Victor Alden, had repeatedly warned her not to provoke Cecilia Vaughn or risk legal troubles. Striking Chloe Alden’s weakness, her beautiful face twisted.
Just then, twenty or so foreigners appeared not far away.
They had deep-set eyes and high-bridged noses, with blue-green eyes, approximately half men and half women, likely out for a group trip.
An idea quickly flashed through Chloe Alden’s mind.
She looked at Cecilia Vaughn arrogantly, malice and hatred deep in her expression.
"Cecilia Vaughn, do you dare to bet with me?"
"On what..."
Cecilia Vaughn looked at Chloe Alden with a half-smile, wondering what new trap this entitled woman had thought of.
But Cecilia Vaughn was always the type to avoid trouble if possible but wouldn’t back down from a challenge.
Bring it on, who is afraid?
Chloe Alden took a deep breath, glaring sinisterly at Cecilia Vaughn.
"Do you see those twenty-odd foreigners outside? Let’s see who can get more contact numbers from the opposite sex in ten minutes!"
"I don’t believe that a shameless woman like you will attract any man!"
"No restrictions on how to get numbers?"
Cecilia Vaughn’s voice was calm, directly pointing out the crux of it.
"No using money to cheat. You can have a helper; I’ll bring Fiona, and you bring Mona Summers, the tomboy!"
"Who’s a tomboy!"
Mona Summers was so angry, she bared her teeth.
She might be a bit of a tomboy, but surely she was more charming than a spoiled brat like Chloe Alden?
...
Chloe Alden snorted and immediately looked to Fiona Vaughn for help.
"Fiona, you have the best luck with the opposite sex, will you help me?"
Fiona Vaughn was delighted to see Cecilia Vaughn humiliated, especially since Chloe Alden was the one betting with Cecilia. Fiona Vaughn smiled and nodded.
"Sure."
With Fiona Vaughn, known for her charm with men, Chloe Alden felt victory was in sight. She looked down at Cecilia Vaughn, eyes flashing like a venomous snake.
"Cecilia Vaughn, let’s set the stakes! Whoever loses will publicly slap themselves ten times and shout in English to that group, ’I’m a fool!’"
