Chapter 132: I’ll Destroy Your Family
The golden fire burned the whole lower valley together with the heinous beast. It was so bright it lit up the foggy sky for miles.
Inside the main Professors tent back at the main camp, alarms started ringing loud.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Professor Dominic almost choked on his water. He pointed a shaking finger at the screen.
"HIGH ENERGY SIGNAL WHERE TEAM 3 IS LOCATED. AN UPPER TIER LEVEL 5 QUEEN ACID DRAKE WAS RELEASED."
Professor Henry hit his fists on the wooden desk. His face was pale from shock. "WHAT?! How did that thing get free near Year 2 students?! Let’s go in now! They will be killed!"
Rose stepped up to the screen. Her eyes were fixed on Team 3’s video. "Look at the screen, Henry," Rose said softly. Her voice was full of shock.
Henry and Dominic looked up at the screen.
On the live video, the bright golden fire cleared.
The big forty foot Queen Acid Drake was gone. In its place was a deep, glass hole in the stone valley floor. It was filled with smoking white ash.
Lynx stood at the edge of the cliff. He casually lowered his bare hand as if it was just another simple beast he killed. His dark uniform was clean. His hair moved gently in the warm wind as he absorbed the essence of the beast.
He had destroyed an Upper Tier Level 5 monster with one, simple big fire attack.
Henry fell back into his chair. His mouth was open. He could not speak. "He... he killed an Upper Tier Level 5 beast... in one attack... without any scratch."
Rose let out a soft laugh. Her fiery eyes shined with pride. "I told you. He is a god among us Blessed."
Back on the stone ridge, it was quiet. Ava, Kira, Lira, and Ophelia stood still. They stared down into the burnt blackish hole where a forty foot monster was seconds ago.
Ophelia turned her head slowly. She looked at Lynx like he was a god from above. She took three slow steps forward. Her rose pink eyes were wide. Her hands were shaking a little.
"Lynx..." Ophelia whispered. Her voice was shaking with strong emotion. "You... you didn’t just beat that thing. You destroyed an upper tier beast in one hit..."
Lynx turned around. He gave her a calm, easy smile. His transcendental charm doing the rest of the work. "I told you, Goddess Leah. As long as you’re with me, you’re completely safe. You could also pick up a thing or two."
Ophelia could not hold back anymore. With all the shock, the shock, and the realization of his power, she stepped forward.
She wrapped her arms around Lynx’s neck. She pulled herself up and kissed him on the lips.
Ava, Kira, and Lira did not get angry. And they weren’t thrilled either. Especially Kira, who was looking at them as if she wants to consume them. But she held herself and advert her gaze.
Lira and Ava with watched their new Year 3 friend fall for their man’s power.
Lynx wrapped his arm around Ophelia’s waist. He pulled her body close to his. He deepened the kiss until she let out a soft sigh on his lips.
When they finally stopped, Ophelia’s face was bright red. Her rose pink eyes shined with love and adoration.
"I think... I think I’m completely in love with you," she said softly. She put her forehead on his chest.
Lynx laughed softly. He pulled Ava, Kira, and Lira into his arms too. With him casually whispering all sort of things to Kira and making her smile as he held all four of his girls together under the warm afternoon sun.
"Now then," Lynx said. His two different colored eyes turned cold as he looked down at the southern path where Julian’s group had run. "Let’s go see Julian and his little friends."
Julian Frostborne, Kol, Mars, James, and Peter Musk were standing in a small dirt open area, near the northern ridge where Lynx and his team was.
They were catching their breath. They had been waiting for nearly twenty minutes. They were listening for sounds of screaming or death cries from the northern ridge.
"It’s quiet," James whispered in fear. He rubbed his arms. "Too quiet. Did the Queen Drake kill them already?"
Mars gave a dark, mean laugh. "Of course she killed them! It was an Upper Tier Level 5 Monster. Not even Lynx could protect three Year 2 girls from a forty but foot acid monster."
Peter Musk’s face had a winning, evil smile. "He’s dead... he’s finally dead. My sister... everything... he’s gone. That bastard is gone."
Julian straightened his golden uniform collar. An arrogant, winning smirk was on his face.
"Good job, Kol. The Professors will never know. It was just an unlucky monster attack. Even with these live tracking artifacts, they’ll never know. They can’t even hear what we’re saying right now, all they see is what we show them."
"Are you sure about that, King of the Academy?" a deep, calm voice came from the dark trees ahead.
The smile on Julian’s face froze at once.
The temperature in the open area dropped very low.
From the dark shadows of the big trees, Lynx walked out into the sunlight. His hands were in his dark pants. His heterochromatic eyes glowed with a cold, hunter light.
Standing beside him were Ava, Kira, Lira, and Ophelia. All four girls were fine. Their uniforms were clean. Their eyes were fixed on Team 2 with pure hate.
Especially Ava, she couldn’t believe her own brother would do this to her because she was acquainted with Lynx. Lynx had briefed them about what Julian and his team did.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Peter Musk screamed. He fell back on his butt. His eyes were wide with fear.
"HOW ARE YOU ALIVE?! THE QUEEN DRAKE—"
"You mean that big lizard you tried to lead to my ridge?" Lynx said casually. He took a slow step forward.
"It was making too much noise. So I turned it to ash. It took about three seconds."
Julian, Kol, Mars, and James stood frozen. Their minds could not believe what they were hearing.
"Now then," Lynx continued. He stopped ten feet in front of them. The passive heavy pressure coming from his body hit Team 2 like a mountain falling.
"You five thought it would be funny lead an Upper Tier beast with that black egg thing, at me and my women?"
Julian gritted his teeth. He forced his S Ranked Ice Affinity through his body as he raised his hands.
"Lynx! You have no proof—"
Before Julian could finish talking Lynx disappeared.
In less than a second, Lynx appeared right in front of Julian. He reached out with his right hand. He grabbed Julian by his throat, then he slammed the six foot three King of the Academy hard onto the stone floor.
CRACK!
The stone ground broke under Julian’s back. Julian made a choking sound. Blood came from his mouth as Lynx’s bare hand held his throat like steel.
"JULIAN." Mars screamed. He ran forward with fire on his fist.
Without even looking, Lynx swung his left leg in a fast kick. His leg hit Mars right in the ribs.
BOOM
Mars flew across the open area. He crashed through three big oak trees before falling unconscious in a pile of broken wood and blood.
James and Kol tried to use their Affinity. But Ava and Ophelia moved at once. Ava fired a strong lightning bolt.
It broke James’s defense and knocked him out. Ophelia raised two stone pillars. They pinned Kol tight to a cliff wall. He could not move.
Julian’s team had been fighting beasts for long too before this incident, their health and mana were low, almost all their potions were consumed already. While Lynx team got Lynx, who handled stronger beasts, letting his girls rest.
Although even Julian’s team health and mana bar were full. That wouldn’t change anything since Lynx was here.
Peter Musk crawled back on his hands and knees. He was shaking in fear as Lynx calmly stood over the broken body of Julian Frostborne.
Lynx looked down at Julian. His two different colored eyes burned with intense power. He leaned down. His voice dropped to a whisper only Julian could hear.
"You call yourself the King of this academy," Lynx said softly. He stepped his heavy boot right on Julian’s chest. He crushed his ribs with small pressure.
"But to me, you are nothing but a useless, desperate worm playing in my area. If you ever touch my women again... I won’t just break your pride. I will find and destroy your whole family."
Julian lay bleeding on the broken rock. His ice blue eyes were full of fear as he nodded weakly. He was broken in body and mind.
Lynx lifted his boot.
He turned his back on the broken Year 4 students. He offered his hand to Ophelia and pulled her close. Ava, Kira, and Lira held his sides.
"Let’s go back to camp," Lynx said gently. His charming smile came back as he looked at his women. "We have a tournament to win on Monday."
Together, Team 3 walked out of the Restricted Area. They left behind the broken Year 4 students and Peter Musk. They walked toward their future as the undisputed leaders of Aether Academy.
