Chapter 77: The Dinner Of The Pillars [2]
Everyone stared at Carl and Marcel, both in surprise and discomfort.
Silence descended into the room for a long while until Klaus tapped with his finger and said, "Now that everyone is calm and silent. I want all of you to stand one by one and introduce yourselves."
Everyone nodded, and Klaus looked at Carl.
"Go ahead," he said.
Carl rose to his feet and said, "I am Carl Snitzer. I am in charge of information and keeping us hidden from everything."
Everyone looked at him with surprise. The task sounded too big and important for a teenager, but remembering what he had done just a few minutes ago, none could say that he was unworthy of it. Not yet, at least.
He sat down, and Erick was the next to rise from his chair and introduce himself.
However, instead of doing it right away, he first glanced at everyone with an amused smile.
Clyde, Trenton, and Martin felt odd and wondered what worth this teenager had.
None could obviously guess what he said next.
"I am Erick Elten. I am the head of Bruma Syndicate, which rules the underworld and most of the Golden City’s criminal gangs."
Everyone’s jaw, except those who were already aware of the truth, fell open, and Martin turned his head to Carl for confirmation but only found him as surprised as he was, if not more.
Erick had made no physical or digital records of himself as the head of Bruma Syndicate, and to the world he was just a mentally unstable teenager.
Erick sat down on his chair.
Although it was Liliana’s turn to introduce herself, she was just too much in shock to do it right away.
Erick looked at her and said with a smile, "It’s your turn."
Liliana came out of her thoughts and nodded awkwardly before she stood up and introduced herself.
"I am Liliana Palmer. I am the voice of Mr. Maker’s vision."
Everyone frowned at her words because none could understand the meaning behind them.
They turned to Klaus for some sort of explanation, but he said nothing and just continued to lean back in his chair with closed eyes.
Seeing that, they simply gave up whatever hope they had about receiving an explanation, and Liliana shifted back to her chair.
Martin was the next.
As he stood up, he fixed his tie and adjusted his gold-trimmed glasses before he said, "I am Martin Sykes. I am the face and CEO of Maker Finance and the secretary of Mr. Maker."
Hearing that, Marcel frowned deeply and looked at Martin with a sharp gaze.
Martin lowered himself in his chair, and before Trenton could stand up, Marcel shot to his feet and said while staring at Martin, "I am Marcel Levy. I am Mr. Maker’s secretary."
Martin looked at him and furrowed his brows before he remarked inwardly, ’So he is the person who wants to be Kal’s secretary.’
His gaze sharpened, and he stared at Marcel as though he was looking at his worst enemy.
Marcel was no different and couldn’t accept that someone was already trying to fight him for the place that should rightfully be his.
Everyone else glanced between the two; they could literally feel the embers in their eyes and somewhat enjoyed that.
But before it could continue for too long, Klaus tapped at the table and said, "Next."
His word echoed throughout the room, and Martin and Marcel looked away from each other before Marcel took his seat.
Trenton stood up right after and said with his hand on his heart, "It’s truly an honor to meet all of you."
Everyone except Carl and Marcel smiled at Trenton’s words and gave him a faint nod.
Trenton turned to Klaus and continued, "I am Trenton Schwartz. For now, I do not amount to much, but in the near future I will be in charge of creating customised weapons, items, and gadgets for Mr. Maker and everyone else present in the room."
Everyone except Klaus raised an eyebrow and gave him a look of approval before their gaze shifted to the last pillar.
Trenton sat down and smiled at Clyde.
Clyde fixed his dark blue tie as he stood up and turned his head to Klaus.
"I am Clyde Rodgers. I am in charge of real estate, which includes buying, building, and destroying whatever Mr. Maker wishes."
Clyde sat down immediately after, and everyone’s head instinctively turned to the last person.
Four of the seven knew him as Klaus Murrow, while the remaining were only aware of Leo Maker.
The two were undoubtedly the same person, yet they were different. However, now was the time for him to decide who he would continue to be.
Klaus slowly opened his eyes and straightened himself in his chair.
His deep black eyes glanced at everyone present in the room, and his lips parted as he spoke, "I am Leo Maker."
The words resounded throughout the room, and he continued, "I have a vision and the power to turn that into reality, but strength alone isn’t enough for it."
"I want to change the world, and for that I need capable allies. All of you who are present in this room have a tight grip on the various branches that created the great tree called humanity."
"Under my guidance, the branches will shift, and once the trunk is no longer able to hold them, I will take its place."
Everyone in the room fell silent.
Martin and Liliana were frowning.
Carl and Clyde were impassive.
But the remaining... they were excited.
Marcel, Trenton, and Erick were smiling ear to ear.
One of them wanted something this exciting simply because he was curious. Another believed that no goal could suit The Maker better. The last saw Klaus’s rise as a path toward the person he wanted dead.
However, only the others could understand the weight behind his words.
Klaus had, after all, just announced his wish for world domination.
