Chapter 80: Calling Trina At Night
The three of them enjoyed their day at the old bakery.
Klaus ordered what he used to have with his friends, and after the three of them ate it, they bought a cake and cut it to commemorate his birthday.
After that, they left the bakery and, one by one, walked into the various places that Klaus remembered from his university days.
They played games at the gaming parlour, drank soda at the soda shop, and ate snacks at the food stalls.
During all this, Klaus completely forgot about the apocalypse, about ruling the world, about the awakened humans roaming the globe, and only focused on the two people accompanying him and the memories.
Many times he remembered his past days and smiled before continuing to make new ones.
As the night neared, they walked back to Martin’s car and entered it.
While the car moved toward Klaus’s house, he decided to call Sarin once he reached the destination.
The car halted, and Martin said as Klaus stepped out of the car, "Good night, birthday boy."
Klaus slightly waved at him, and the car moved once again.
Once the car vanished from his vision, Klaus let out a sigh and turned toward the door.
He pulled out his phone, dialed Trina’s number as he pulled the door and entered the house.
A few seconds passed before Trina picked up the call and answered,
’Trina, hah... obviously it would be her. Is she still trying to act bold?’
Klaus’s lips curled upward, and he replied, "Yeah, I was."
He chuckled and sat down on the sofa as he said, "Do you have Sarin’s number?"
A few seconds passed, but no voice came out of his phone, prompting him to call out, "Trina? Are you there?"
she responded and paused before adding,
Klaus furrowed his brows and a mischievous glint crossed his eyes. He leaned back in his chair and asked softly, "Are you jealous?"
she replied in a haughty tone.
Though to him, she sounded more like a young girl acting old.
Klaus placed a hand on his mouth to stop himself from laughing aloud and said, "Ha... then you... haha! shouldn’t have any issue with giving me Sarin’s number."
Trina stayed silent for a while before she said,
Klaus frowned. "What?"
That didn’t make sense... weren’t the two of them friends? How was it possible for Trina to not have Sarin’s number? They seemed close too.
"Ah... I see," he mumbled, his expression sour.
It had taken him so many days to finally call her, but he didn’t even have her number.
He could ask Carl to find her number, but the chances of Carl’s agreement were very low because if he wanted to get the autograph that way, he would have already obtained multiple of them.
"Thanks, Trina..." he mumbled, and his finger moved to the red hangup button. However, just as he was about to tap on it, his finger stopped, and he asked, "How is the training going?"
A few days back, Trina had joined the training center of the first and the nearest coach from the list of trainers.
She still refused to take money from him, though mostly because she wanted her first big income to come from the art that she had pursued since childhood.
He respected that choice and didn’t push her any further. But he still had a well-known doctor check on her mother, and only he was aware of the words that the man had said to him.
He didn’t know what disease she had. Some symptoms matched many of the known diseases, viruses, allergies, and so on, but he had never seen them occur together.
Klaus had kept the truth from Trina because he didn’t want her to break or waste her time finding the cure when he himself could do that.
she answered while grinning, her voice joyful.
"Is that so? That is great then," Klaus said as his somber expression vanished and a smile appeared on his face.
she added.
"Sounds like you are enjoying the training."
She took a pause and added,
His lips dropped instantly. "She is going to be there...?"
she replied.
He rubbed his face with his free hand. He had prepared himself to talk with her, and meeting her face to face would be much harder than a simple call... How was he supposed to do that without making any scene?
Why did I make that promise in the first place?
He wanted to strangle the past him who had made use of a stupid plan as though it was something great, but sadly such a thing was simply impossible, and he had to live with the consequences of his past actions.
He let out a frustrated groan and spoke into the phone, "When is the event?"
She sounded sad and decided not to push it further.
"Next week, huh..." he still had more than enough time to prepare himself both mentally and emotionally.
"Thank you for picking up the call, good night," he said as his finger moved toward the red button.
Trina hurriedly spoke,
He ended the call before she could finish and tossed the phone onto the sofa.
