Chapter 81: University’s Annual Event
The next week leading up to the annual event passed like a fresh breeze of the morning as he kept himself busy with various other tasks.
First of all, he finally made his first million; he had already made more than that, but he had never had a total of one million in his bank account because he used it soon after.
*Balance: 1,524,985$*
He gave Clyde the names of the remaining leakers, and Clyde used them to have TREG increase the budget for Project Dremis while also gaining more influence over the project and the Golden City branch.
He met all the gang leaders under Erick and gave Marcel the new task of creating a list of people who could become problematic in the future.
He spent the remaining time studying culture, religion, politics, economics, science, physiology, psychology, and much more.
Knowledge had begun to fascinate him more than power.
Maybe because he already had strength and speed beyond human comprehension.
Still, he had yet to try the dream simulation, which couldn’t just teach him but also make him feel the things that he was studying.
Perhaps that was why the system was so against doing so.
Klaus was aware that each person had their own set of thoughts, memories, values, and delusions.
But what he wanted to do was understand everyone’s thoughts, values, and delusions so he could build a better and proper New World.
The fascination of this task had shackled him so strongly that he had completely forgotten to even try leveling up during the past week, and now the day of the annual event was here.
A black BWM R 1000 RS cut through the busy road like a phantom as Klaus finally rode his bike after over a month.
He didn’t have any mask or cap hiding his face, and he wore a simple yet high-quality t-shirt and trousers as he made his way toward Trina’s university.
[Host, aren’t you too excited about this?]
’Of course, I am. I am going to see Trina in action for the first time,’ he mumbled inwardly as he took a left turn and his gaze fell on the colorful banners, flags, flowers, and other decorations that decorated the street leading to the university.
"Goddammit..."
The place was packed with citizens, probably the parents, other family members, and friends of the students, and Klaus had to slow down a lot to finally reach the entrance and park his bike.
He stood by his bike, pulled out his phone, and called Trina, and to his disappointment, she didn’t pick up.
He had already expected that to happen.
’She must be busy with preparation.’ He nodded to himself.
For a good minute, he stayed at his spot, wondering, ’What if someone steals my bike?’
The place was crowded, so the chances of the guards noticing the theft would be low, but soon he pushed the thoughts away and stepped inside the entrance gate, which had a big sign that read: Opalstar University’s Annual Event 2025.
There was no point worrying about the bike getting stolen because he could simply have Carl find the thief and then have a good talk with him.
A grin spread across his lips. ’I dare that fool! I dare.’
As he walked past the citizens going in and out of the university, his gaze fell on a big poster which had Trina and seven other female students on it.
The poster was of the eight brackets, which had four matches, and the winners of those matches would move to the semi-finals.
Seeing Trina there, a proud smile appeared on his face.
In the past three days, Trina had already taken part in sixty-four brackets, thirty-two brackets, and sixteen brackets of the tournament, and she had obviously won all her matches without any trouble.
But today she was going against the best taekwondo athletes of the university, so he was excited to see how it would go.
He wasn’t a little bit worried about her losing.
’Who can even defeat her?’ He remarked inwardly, and his steps quickened on their own as he walked toward the stadium where the tournament and other events would take place.
He walked through the heavy crowd without touching a single one. That much was expected of someone whose physical abilities were already beyond the human norm.
Sounds of deafening cheers, loud chatter, howls, and many that he didn’t even understand fell into his ear as he neared the venue, and as he entered it, his gaze fell on the jungle of chairs, most of which were occupied.
The chairs circled a big stage at the center, and currently, a group of students wearing flashy silver and shadowy dark attire was dancing.
Their movements were so much in sync that it seemed like their minds were connected.
’Crazy people,’ he thought as he walked down to his chair, which was at the front.
He had gotten it from Trina, so she had made sure it was one of the front ones.
With each step, he glanced around in search of Trina... or Sarin, but he found no one and soon reached his chair.
To his surprise, it was empty.
He had completely expected someone to take it, and then he would have had to fight him for the chair, which was rightfully his, but nothing of the sort happened.
A frown appeared on his face, and he shifted into the seat.
’My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.’
Just as he sat down, the announcer’s voice rang throughout the venue.
"Coming next is a special guest who wishes to cheer all of the students taking part in various sports events!"
Nearly everyone threw their arms in the air and shouted,
"Woah!"
"Yes!"
Many clapped or let out weird noises as the stage’s LED lights changed their color to bright pink and sky blue.
A group of cheerleaders walked onto the stage.
Klaus watched them with a smile before the smile cracked and turned into a frown.
"Sarin...?" He mumbled.
