My Apocalypse System Awakened Five Years Early

Chapter 10: Saving The Dinner Like A Hero

Klaus’s bike sped through the busy night streets like a phantom and came to a screeching stop at the other side of a restaurant named "Flora Delight".

He parked the bike and gazed at his reflection in the side mirror, calmly setting his hair to perfection with a confident smile on his face.

"Don’t I look handsome?" He asked while staring into the air.

[Host, looks should be your last concern during such turbulent times.]

Klaus sighed deeply. He was a fool for asking anything unrelated to the apocalypse to this bugged system.

Shaking his head in disappointment, he once again checked himself in the mirror and added, "What if Trina ends up falling for me?"

His lips widened into a grin, and he turned around, entirely disregarding the system.

Defeating Trina Frost had boosted his confidence to heights he hadn’t even known existed, making him feel as though there was very little he couldn’t accomplish.

Of course, he wasn’t arrogant enough to believe he could do anything.

Humming a soft tune with his hands in his pockets, he crossed the road and stepped into the restaurant.

His eyes immediately searched for Trina, but the moment he found her, his smile faded.

’Who are these clowns?’

Trina sat in a chair with a clenched jaw, her hands gripped the menu so tightly that the pages had begun to crumple. But her eyes were not fixed on it; instead, she was looking down at the floor.

Beside her table stood a red-haired man with two other dark-haired men flanking him on either side; just by glancing at their attire and demeanor, one could gauge that they were spoiled to the core.

The one at the front was staring at Trina with a calm smile on his face, one that made him appear as though everything was in his control.

"Have you made your decision yet?" The guy muttered, his voice sharp and haughty.

"Stop bothering me, Dustin," Trina said without turning her head toward him.

"Haha," Dustin laughed and looked at the two standing on his sides with a wide grin on his face.

"Ronnie, Denis. Do you think I am bothering her?"

Ronnie and Denis snickered, and the latter said, "Of course not. She should be grateful that Young Master Dustin is even talking to her."

Dustin turned to Trina and said while swiping his finger across the guests sitting in their chairs, "See? No one here thinks I’m bothering you."

All the guests that the finger passed through either turned or lowered their heads.

He leaned toward her and whispered, "Stop playing hard to get. Don’t you need money for your mother’s treatment?"

Trina’s body trembled; her fists tightened around the menu, and she gritted her teeth tightly.

Dustin looked at her and chuckled. "Haha. Why are you still acting like this? Do you think your poor father can afford her treatment?"

He stepped closer. "Or do you think you can earn that money by practicing taekwondo?"

"Tch," he clicked his tongue. "You lot are really hopeless. A dying mother, a worthless father, and a stubborn daughter."

Trina’s face turned pale.

Dustin had proposed to her on the very first day of university, and she had respectfully rejected him, but instead of backing down, he used his father’s influence and money to cause problems for her.

A sadistic grin appeared on Dustin’s face, and he slowly moved his hand toward her.

’Haha. How long can you run away from me?’

Just as his hand was about to touch her shoulder, another hand shot out and seized his wrist.

"How far do you intend to take this?"

Hearing Klaus’s voice, Trina lifted her head, but before she could say anything, he said, "I’ll handle this."

She stared at him with a worried expression and nodded reluctantly.

Seeing them, Dustin’s anger boiled, and he hissed. "Keep your nose out of this and fuck off."

Ronnie and Denis stepped closer, and the three stared at Klaus like rabid dogs.

Klaus met Dustin’s gaze and said, "She’s with me."

Dustin froze for a moment, and his eyes shifted to Trina. "You bit—"

Before he could finish, Klaus tightened his grip on Dustin’s wrist.

Dustin’s eyes widened as a sharp pain shot up his hand. "Ahhh!"

His legs wobbled, and he tried to free his wrist, but Klaus was like an immovable mountain.

"You bastard!"

Ronnie’s and Denis’s expressions turned furious, and the two stepped forward to attack him.

Klaus glared at them and said, "Take one more step, and I’ll break every bone in his wrist."

The two froze at their spots, and Dustin stared at Klaus with a horrified look on his face.

’W-Who is he?!’

"If I see you near Trina ever again, I’ll make sure to break more than just your hand," Klaus stated as he freed Dustin and pushed him onto his lackeys.

"Get out."

Ronnie and Denis glared at Klaus while, on the other hand, Dustin stormed out of the restaurant without looking back.

"W-Wait!" Ronnie and Denis followed behind him with expressions between worry and confusion.

Klaus watched them leave and settled into the chair before Trina.

Trina lowered her gaze and fiddled her fingers in distress as she spoke, "I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to drag you into this."

"You don’t have to be sorry. It wasn’t your fault," Klaus stated with a faint smile.

He took the menu from her hand and said smugly, "And as I am the one getting treated, then I should be the one ordering."

Trina chuckled and gave him a look of gratitude. "Thanks a lot for helping me."

"Haha," he chuckled, and a devilish grin appeared on his face. "Don’t worry, I intend to empty your wallet in return."

She laughed and nodded.

[Host, did you really do it for the mission?]

’Obviously, why else would I do that? It’s not like I am a hero or something... Anyways, looks like humans don’t count as mutated monsters after all,’ he replied inwardly.

[What do you mean counted as? Humans do not mutate. They either die, stay as before, or awaken their trait and become a hero. Can’t you guess that just by looking around?]

’Ah-huh.’ Klaus leaned on the table, pointed at a dish on the menu, and asked Trina, "Have you ever tried this before?"

Trina also leaned closer; her cheeks were covered in a barely visible blush, and she shook her head. "I haven’t."

"Let’s try it then." He raised his hand and called out to the waiter.

Meanwhile, Dustin kicked the tire of his car and spat venomously, "That motherfucker, who does he think he is?!"

Ronnie and Denis exchanged glances, and the former asked darkly, "Dustin, you are not planning to leave him unpunished, are you?"

Dustin turned around, his face red in fury, and he spewed, "What else do you want me to do then? Huh?!"

The corners of Ronnie’s and Denis’s lips lifted slightly, and the latter suggested in a sadistic tone, "Didn’t your father keep those men just for a time like this? Use them."

A glint of understanding passed through Dustin’s eyes. He clenched his right fist and slipped his left hand into his pocket with a cruel grin on his face.

He took out his phone and dialed a number that picked up within moments.

"Hello. Tell them to stop hiding and come to me at this instant."

For a few moments, no answer came from the other side.

<...Alright, but please make sure to be somewhere safe while they are busy with your task.>
