Chapter 11: Welcome To The Circus
The waiter soon arrived.
Klaus and Trina ordered a few dishes and began to chat about training and everyday life, both avoiding the topic of Dustin.
By the time they finished the dinner and stepped out of the restaurant, the night sky had grown even darker.
"Do you want me to drop you off?" Klaus asked.
Trina shook her head and replied with a small smile, "You don’t have to. My house is just two blocks from here."
"Alright. Get home safe," he said and crossed the road.
She quietly waved at him while he wasn’t looking, sadness drifting onto her face. ’If I had stood up for myself, Klaus wouldn’t have had to do that.’
After a few moments, she shook off the dark thoughts and mumbled under her breath, "I have to work even harder."
He reached his bike and turned to look at Trina, but all he saw was her retreating figure.
I don’t think she wants me getting involved in her problems.
[I believe she would appreciate it if you did.]
"Even though I want to get on good terms with her, I can’t just barge into her life."
He sat on the bike and twisted the key.
"I’ll help her when she actually needs it."
The bike roared to life, growling like a wild beast as he sped through the bustling streets, cutting through passing vehicles like an expert.
His eyes kept drifting to the side mirrors. A black sedan had been following him ever since he left Flora Delight.
"Guess Dustin didn’t take that very well," he chuckled darkly and took a sharp turn to the left, opposite to where his house was.
"Let’s have some fun."
The car did the same, making their objective clear.
’Not even trying to hide it, huh?’ he thought, and his eyes sharpened.
For the next ten minutes, Klaus weaved through the city, taking one sharp turn after another. The black sedan mirrored every move like a shadow.
[Host, shouldn’t you enter narrow alleys if you are trying to get away from them?]
’I am not trying to get away, I am simply annoying them to make them somewhat careless.’
[Would it not be wiser to avoid confrontation?]
’Dustin won’t just let me go anyway, and I also need to test myself in a real fight.’
[That sounds extremely reckless. What if they have firearms?]
He looked at the following car through the side mirror, and a cold, ruthless glint passed through his eyes.
"They probably do. That’s why I’m taking them somewhere I have the advantage."
A few minutes later, the BWM R 1000 RS came to a dead halt before a giant iron rod fence circling multiple circus tents; the place looked abandoned.
A few years ago, a traveling circus company had set up here, but for reasons unknown, it had shut down before its first performance.
Klaus had always been a fan of circuses, so even though there was no show, he frequented this place to satisfy his curiosity.
"How nostalgic," he jumped off his bike and sprinted past the giant entrance sign.
The sign read:
"Welcome to the Circus!"
[Are you thinking of defeating them by acting like a clown?]
"Yes. After all, That’s the only thing you can actually support me with."
[I am pleased to know that I am of some use to you.]
Klaus rolled his eyes and mumbled under his breath, "No one knows this place better than I do and..."
His steps slowed, and he looked at the sign hanging at the entrance of a tent. It read: "House of Mirrors"
A wide grin appeared on his face. "I have always dreamt of beating bad guys in here."
He stepped inside the narrow mirror alleys and glanced at his reflections; some were taller, some shorter, some wider, some thinner, and a few were normal.
Many mirrors were dirty, and some were broken, but because the moonlight streaming through the holes in the tent was the only thing brightening the place, it was dark enough for him to carry out his plans.
However, as he moved further inside, a murky smell caused him to flinch.
"What is this foul smell?" He mumbled with a disgusted expression on his face.
[I do not think Host wants to know.]
"Huh? What do you mean?" He waved a hand before his nose and continued on his steps.
[It is the smell of multiple human bodily fluids.]
"Don’t tell me..." Klaus’s face twisted.
"Someone had sex in here?"
At the same time, the black sedan came to a screeching stop at the entrance of the circus.
Its doors flung open, and four men with pistols, dressed in full black with different-colored caps on their heads, stepped out.
Their gaze instantly turned to Klaus’s bike, and the one wearing a white hat barked orders. "Spread and find that rat bastard."
Red Hat, Black Hat, and Green Hat nodded their heads, fury clear in their eyes, and the four of them spread apart and began looking for Klaus.
One by one, they checked the tents, and after about fifteen minutes, Green Hat entered the house of mirrors.
"This place reeks of beasts." The musky smell caused him to frown, and he lowered his phone; the reflected light from the mirrors was only making things difficult.
"You are finally here." Klaus’s voice spread across the area.
Green Hat looked around and spat venomously, "Where are you hiding, you rat?!"
"Hahahaha!" Klaus laughed loudly and asked, "Are you stupid? Why would I have hidden myself if I had intended to tell you?"
A vein throbbed at Green Hat’s forehead, and he said, "Just you wait, I’ll rip that sharp tongue myself."
"First find me, dumbass."
Green Hat’s expression turned even more furious, and he began to search for Klaus with bloodshot eyes.
For a couple of minutes, he roamed, and then suddenly, a man with his back to Green Hat appeared a few steps before him.
’There you are,’ Green Hat grinned and raised his pistol.
The chamber clicked as he pulled the trigger, and a loud gunshot echoed throughout the area.
Bang!
The bullet struck its target.
"Ahhh!"
