Chapter 12: Fast As Fuck Boi
Red Hat, Black Hat, and White Hat turned their heads toward the gunshot before they stormed in its direction.
A loud crack echoed throughout the house of mirrors as Green Hat’s bullet struck one of the mirrors, exploding it in an instant.
"Ahh!" Klaus screamed as though he had actually been struck.
A second later, laughter echoed through the maze.
"Haha. What a dumb bastard."
Green Hat’s face twisted with rage.
"Grrr!" He ground his teeth together and turned around to look for Klaus.
A man with a horrified face appeared before him, and he instantly fired a bullet.
Another deafening crack rang out as the mirror shattered into countless pieces.
"Ugh!" Green Hat groaned and saw the reflection of the same man creeping up on him from the left.
The corners of his lips lifted, and he immediately turned around with his gun pointed in the same direction. "Got you—"
The next instant, a devastating punch crashed into his ribs, breaking several on impact.
Green Hat’s eyes widened, and he screamed as pain tore through him.
He stumbled backward while holding his side; however, Klaus wasn’t ready to give him any leeway.
He instantly grabbed the hand holding the pistol and twisted it.
Bones cracked as Klaus twisted Green Hat’s wrist, and his face turned pale from pain. His lips opened wide, but before he could even cry out, Klaus drove a punch into his face, straight away knocking him out.
Blood dripped out of his nose and mouth, and his body fell cold onto the ground with a thud.
Klaus’s physical abilities already rivaled those of the world’s greatest athletes. Green Hat never stood a chance against his successful surprise attack.
Klaus quickly picked up the gun with shaky hands and stared at Green Hat with a tense expression.
He had never done something like this before; if he had failed to achieve even one of the things, he would’ve been the one lying on the ground with a hole in his body.
[This is why I tell you not to leave your shelter.]
"Haha," he chuckled darkly, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
He grabbed Green Hat by the legs and dragged him deeper into the maze of mirrors.
He didn’t know if there were more of them, but if there were, then he needed to be prepared.
Just a minute later, Black Hat entered the house of mirrors, and his pupils darted side to side in alert.
The reflected light from the mirrors struck his eyes, but he didn’t lower his phone because he couldn’t mistake a mirror for Green Hat or the guy they were sent to beat the crap out of.
He held his pistol in his right hand and called out, "Hans, where are you?"
His words echoed throughout the area, and he looked back at the entrance. "I should wait for others."
As he returned his gaze to the mirrors, his eyes caught the reflection of a man in the edges of a broken mirror.
He lowered his phone, raised his gun to his chest, and stealthily made his way toward that man.
Halting his breath, he crept closer, and once he reached the turn, he swiftly twisted his body and pointed the gun at the hiding man, who, upon closer inspection, turned out to be Green Hat wearing Klaus’s jacket.
"Hans...?" Black hat mumbled and slipped the phone into his pocket to check on his friend, and that very moment, Klaus, who had been hiding in the next alley, rushed at him like a blur.
’I have to do this quickly!’ Klaus declared inwardly.
"You!" Black hat shouted in alert.
He set the nozzle of his pistol at Klaus and pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Klaus had already jumped to the side.
The bullet tore past his previous spot, and he rushed forward with a horrified expression.
"Ugh!" Black Hat yelped and moved his aim to Klaus. It was already too late.
Klaus threw a solid kick to his hand, instantly disarming him, then spun on his feet and threw a cutting punch.
Black Hat raised his arm and blocked the punch. A pained groan left his lips as the shock from the impact caused his arm to go limp.
"What the hell are you?!" He cried as he jumped at Klaus with his other fist ready to slam into him.
Klaus’s heart beat loudly in his chest as he took a step to the side to dodge the punch, then grabbed Black Hat’s head and slammed his face into the nearby mirror.
He banged Black Hat’s head into the mirror a few times and only stopped when it was busted open. Then he turned Black Hat toward himself and landed a punch straight to his nose.
"M-Monster..."
Blood sprayed out of his nose and dripped down his split forehead as he stumbled a few steps back, then his eyes rolled, and he fell to the ground with a heavy thud.
"Haah... haah..." Klaus bent down with his hands on his knees and breathed heavily, not due to exhaustion but nervousness.
[That was dangerous.]
’I know, I know. You don’t have to tell me everything.’
Have I gone crazy? Why am I doing stuff like this?
He straightened himself and picked up Black Hat’s gun.
Maybe the power from the system has gone to my head?
He clenched his fist.
That’s not it...
A sad, reminiscing glint passed through his eyes, and he mumbled, "Is it because I am beginning to think that now I might be able to change father’s decision?"
He shook his head and slapped both of his cheeks to push the sorrow back to its depths.
"I need to focus."
The next moment, hurried footsteps echoed through the maze, and two voices called out at the same time, "Hans! Andrew!"
During parting, Andrew was near Hans, so Red Hat and White Hat were sure that he had already entered the tent.
Klaus grabbed both Black Hat and Green Hat and began dragging them deeper into the maze of mirrors.
As he grabbed their legs, Black Hat’s phone began to ring.
Klaus looked at the phone, dropped onto the floor, and mumbled with furrowed brows, "Who is calling him so late?"
He stomped on the phone, instantly breaking it, and remarked inwardly, ’It is time for the final act. I cannot get distracted by this.’
