Chapter 46: Making The Gang Come To Me
Even though Klaus had managed to scare the scarred man, he knew a loyal Gilten member wouldn’t betray the gang so easily. That was why he had attacked him in the first place.
The reason was simple. If they didn’t want to take him to their base, he would make the base come to him.
No matter how cautious these three gangs were, none of them would ever let disrespect pass; rather, they would return it twofold.
Exactly what Klaus wanted.
"Hehehe," Klaus chuckled like a mischievous imp as he felt the thrill of what was about to happen.
Although he looked rather funny while doing so, the scarred man, who was already scared to the end of his wits and couldn’t even see Klaus’s face due to the mask, couldn’t help but think that the person before him was enjoying trampling on him.
The very thought maddened him.
But what was he supposed to do? Fight him? He would die before he could even stand on his feet.
Call other scouts? They would only follow his fate.
In the end, the only person who could deal with him was Boss.
But how could a mere scout like him dare call Boss for rescue? And even if he did, wouldn’t Boss just kill him for failing to uphold the Gilten gang’s dignity?
He truly had no option but to fight this person to death.
As for begging for life? He was a member of the Gilten gang; there was no way he was going to do something like—
Right at that moment, Klaus raised his left hand and threw a punch to the side.
The punch cracked through the air like a gunshot, and the sheer strength tore the sleeve of his shirt and jacket.
"Now it’s better," Klaus mumbled as he cracked his knuckles. His right sleeve had already been ruined, so he just did the same to the other so it wouldn’t look odd.
Seeing him do that, whatever courage the scarred man had managed to build up in the past few moments vanished.
’There’s no way I can fight this monster,’ he gulped loudly, his heart refusing to beat at its usual unhurried pace.
’I-If I don’t call others to stop him here, he will just attack others,’ the scarred man reasoned as he pulled out a phone from his pocket and dialed a number.
As they were one of the three gangs watching over the night market, they were way more thorough than any other. They even had a secret dial-in number that alerted all of the members about the danger and the caller’s location.
"Seems like you don’t want to talk," Klaus said as he loomed over him with dark eyes.
Klaus had noticed him dialing the number, and he was aware that within about ten minutes this place would be full of Gilten gang members.
But no matter how hard they tried, a gang was still a gang. Their hierarchy was loose, with most members acting independently.
Most of them only wanted to become a gang member so they could wear its name as a shield against their crimes.
"You shouldn’t have come here...." the scarred man mumbled while trembling.
’How cute.’ Klaus smiled behind his mask.
He crouched down and placed a hand on the scarred man’s shoulder.
The scarred man grunted as he felt like a boulder had been placed on his shoulder.
His heart beat so loudly that it could tear through his chest.
Klaus leaned forward and whispered into his ear, "Thanks a lot for helping me out."
Dumbfounded and extremely fearful, the scarred man opened his trembling lips and mumbled, "W-What?"
Klaus’s eyes smiled at him.
"What do you mean...?"
He raised his hand before the scarred man’s head and lightly flicked the center of the man’s forehead, making sure to hold back enough to not kill him outright.
A sharp pain tore through the man’s head. His head sprang back and crashed into the wall, blood dripping out of it.
Klaus gazed at the drops of hot blood and mumbled, "You could’ve just told me where your base is."
He shook his head, rose to his feet, and stepped out of the store.
Looking around, none of the gang members had reached the place, so he had to wait.
He stepped over to the tall building a few hundred steps away from there and reached it in mere moments, then he lowered himself while putting all the weight onto his legs and leaped upward.
The ground beneath cracked as he shot up like a spring, a wide grin on his face.
"Haha! I can actually do this!"
The jump was as high as a two-story building.
He drove his fist into the wall of the ground as he plummeted down and held himself up there for a while, looking down at the closed doors and the empty street while grinning excitedly behind his mask.
"That’s enough sightseeing," he mumbled as he raised his head toward the top of the building. It had a total of six floors, enough for what he planned to do.
He pushed the fingers of his free hand into the wall; the stone or bricks that made it gave way under them.
He pulled out the hand which he had been using to keep himself mounted on the wall and repeated the same with that hand.
Then, using his feet, he pushed himself and climbed the building like a spider.
With his current strength, supporting his entire body with his fingers felt no harder than clenching a fist.
After a few minutes and multiple holes, Klaus reached the top of the building and looked around with a face full of wonder.
Though he knew the wonder wouldn’t stay for long because what he planned to do next was going to hurt him more than anything ever before.
He took a deep breath and questioned his life choices one more time before whispering, "Exceed Perception."
The instant those words escaped his lips, he stumbled backward...
