Chapter 47: Infiltrating Milten Gang’s Base
The instant those words escaped his lips, Klaus stumbled backward due to the sudden change in his perception.
The stores, which were unclear from a distance, became clear as his vision widened and sharpened, allowing him to see a bird flying nearly a kilometer away in detail.
"Dammit!" He groaned as sounds filled his head.
Sounds of people, vehicles, animals, and everything else filled his mind at once. However, it wasn’t hurting him; rather, it was proving to be an annoyance.
Every existence in the world affected the world continuously and consistently just by existing; the energy or power responsible for it was named Aura.
And Klaus’s aura had already reached the third state, where his mind alone could affect the people around him.
However, aura didn’t just affect the world but also the body.
Upon entering the emotional layer, Klaus could control his emotions and fear much more easily than ever before, and after reaching the mental layer, his mind had become capable of processing far more information than before.
But the information was still unfiltered and mostly useless because no matter how great his focus was, it was nearly impossible to find the correct sounds and track them.
Yet processing information wasn’t as simple as moving a limb. Much of the mind worked through the subconscious, making it difficult to consciously filter out the countless useless sounds.
That was why he had forced the scarred man to call for other gang members.
If he couldn’t pick the correct sound, he just had to increase the number of them.
He closed his eyes and listened to the voices drifting far away from him.
"I don’t hear any gunshots. Did that bum butt dial?"
"Hehe. I was raring for a fight anyway."
"I’m gonna fill those bastards full of holes with these new pistols!"
"I just hope it isn’t anything too serious; I have a date tonight."
"Date? Bitch. I got called while having my sixty-ninth honeymoon!"
"It would’ve ended in a minute anyway."
Klaus opened his eyes and turned his head to the left, where most of them were coming from.
"The base must be somewhere there," he mumbled as he watched the gang members running or biking through the streets toward the store where the scarred man lay unconscious, like ants with either grins or frowns on their faces.
It was clear many of them just wanted to fight; however, Klaus couldn’t care less. He wasn’t here to provide them entertainment but to find details about Victor Frank’s son, who had been kidnapped by one of the three gangs.
The system had already filled in that Victor had revealed during an interview that his son was kidnapped by the Bruma Syndicate. But he was three years too late to save him.
He stood there for a while, trying his best to focus on the voices, and then he leaped toward the small building on the left.
As his feet touched the roof of the building, he rolled forward, instantly dissipating all the force behind it.
Following the same, he reached the roof of a store, and now he could simply jump from one store to another to eventually reach the Milten gang’s base.
He jumped from one store to another while occasionally looking at the gang members who had no clue about him to follow their tracks.
With his speed already beyond that of a bike, he was like a ghost moving through the jungle of concrete and steel, and within just three minutes, he reached what once used to be the furthest part of the night market, the old warehouses.
These warehouses were built when the night market was just a regular market. The reason it had turned into a night market was because of these gangs, which had taken over by influencing the people, and over time it became common.
’One of these has to be it,’ he remarked inwardly as he took a step forward and plummeted down to the ground.
One more time, he closed his eyes and let out a deep breath as he let his perception widen once again.
Sounds of chatter and walking with many others drifted into his ears, but he kept his focus on the former two to find the base.
’It’s the third one,’ he remarked and took a step forward after limiting his perception once again.
He plummeted down to the ground, and his feet sank in due to the force he carried.
Without wasting any more time, he rushed toward the third warehouse and reached it within mere moments.
Most of the gang members had already left the place, so the few who were still here were important for the gang to function.
Klaus peeked inside the warehouse through the window, and his gaze landed on a bald man with a scar running across his forehead, golden plating on his teeth, neck heavy with silver and gold chains, and a bored look on his face.
The moment Klaus saw him, he understood that he was the Milten gang’s boss.
As he looked around, others came into his vision, and he remarked inwardly, ’Including their boss, there are five of them.’
It was more than doable.
Klaus smiled behind his mask and walked toward the door at the rear of the warehouse. It was a must for these vintage ones for safety.
Even when he walked, it looked like he was speeding.
Upon reaching the old, rusted shutter door, he pushed his finger into it.
The door let out a faint, barely audible groan as it parted due to his finger, and then he brought his finger down, making a vertical cut at the center, parting the door. Then he did the same at the top but horizontally, allowing him to pull or push the metal sheets of the door to make his way in.
The metal sheets screeched as he folded them in like paper and stepped inside. The place was full of old, large equipment, broken-down cars, and much more, making it impossible for the Milten gang to know that someone had entered the place.
However, they still heard the screech of the metal sheets.
"What was that sound?" Asked Boss.
