Chapter 35: A Dangerous Person
Who is here so early?
Klaus furrowed his brows, quickly picked up the clothes from the ground, and wore them before hurrying over to the entrance door.
He pulled the door open, and his gaze fell on two people, one of whom was familiar.
’What the hell is this guy doing here?’
The familiar person was White Hat, one of the four men whom Dustin had sent to beat him up.
"It is rather hard to meet you, Mr. Murrow," said the person standing beside White Hat while the latter glared daggers at him.
The unfamiliar person had deep black hair with a few whites styled in a curtain mell. His curious eyes were amber. A trimmed beard covered his sharp jaw, and he wore an unbuttoned two-piece dark grey suit with vertical white stripes over a dark blue shirt and black tie.
The person offered a hand to Klaus and said slowly, "It’s good to finally see you."
Klaus glanced at his hand and asked flatly, "Who are you and why are you here?"
The person smiled and said, "I am Marcel Levy, a detective hired by Mr. Elten to find his missing son, and I have come here to meet you."
[Host, you must be careful.]
Although surprised by the system’s comment, he didn’t show it on his face; instead, he looked at White Hat and asked, "What’s the deal with him?"
’Why did you say that?’ He asked the system.
Marcel glanced slightly at White Hat before returning his gaze to Klaus. "You have already met this person, have you not?"
[Whilst Marcel Levy is not as strong as Trina Frost, he is also a renowned hero known for his extremely rare and broken trait.]
"Never seen him," Klaus denied flatly.
’What is his trait?’
[To check that information, I require Host to have a talent as well.]
’How useful.’ He inwardly clicked his tongue.
Marcel smiled and said, "Are you planning to send us back?"
"I was planning to. However, I don’t want any useless trouble in the future, so I’d rather have you ask whatever you want right now," Klaus muttered as he turned around and walked inside.
Marcel nodded at White Hat, and the two of them followed behind him.
He pulled the chair from his dining table and placed it some distance before the sofa. Then he pointed at the sofa with his hand and said, "You can sit there."
"Thank you, Mr. Murrow." Marcel and White Hat sat on the sofa, and he shifted onto the chair.
[I believe it would have been better to just send them away.]
’You are wrong. I’ve failed to comply with the investigation if I delay the talk even further. They may use the benefit of the doubt to fuck me over.’
"There it is again," Marcel said with a curious expression.
"What?" Klaus muttered, confused.
"I have noticed that your eyes keep coming back to a single point about an inch above your chest, almost as if something is there."
Goosebumps rose across Klaus’s body, and his eyes widened slightly.
"Oh? There is something," Marcel stated with a smile. "You would not have been surprised if I were wrong."
’What the hell is this man?!’ Klaus cried inwardly.
[I told you to be careful.]
’Give more information next time!’
"You are doing it again." Marcel pointed at him.
Klaus looked at him with an annoyed expression and explained, "I am not doing it; it happens on its own. It’s a habit I have had since childhood."
"That explains it." Marcel nodded. "I wanted to know why you didn’t pick up any of the calls from the station in the past two days."
"I was sleeping," Klaus muttered, not hiding the truth at all.
Marcel blinked in genuine surprise and mumbled in a dumbfounded tone, "You were asleep for two days and three nights...?"
Klaus nodded. "It may sound like bullshit, but that’s what happened."
Marcel laughed and turned his head to White Hat.
"He is an interesting one, isn’t he?"
White Hat nodded, his expression still strict as before.
"I have heard what you did to him and the other three," Marcel said with a soft smile and continued, "I could not help but think that you were some superhero or a super soldier similar to Captain Eagle."
Klaus furrowed his brows and mumbled inwardly, ’What is this guy...?"
"Hmm?" Marcel frowned and rubbed his chin in thought. "I believed you would laugh it off, but the way your eyes shifted is almost like you are in disbelief?"
He widened his eyes and leaned forward as he spoke in a low, childish tone, "It cannot be that you are actually a superhero, right?"
’This guy is dangerous.’
Klaus gave him a deadpan look and asked flatly, "Are you being serious?"
"Of course not," Marcel smirked and leaned back on the sofa.
"I do not know anything about where Dustin is," Klaus muttered.
"I know," Marcel stated.
A frown appeared on Klaus’s face. "Then why are you here?"
Marcel shrugged. "My intuition told me that you would be an interesting person; it does not seem like I was wrong."
Klaus facepalmed and asked, "Who are the suspects then?"
"Trina Frost, Ronnie, Denis, and Mrs. Elten."
For the first time, White Hat reacted and called out to Marcel, "Sir—"
But Marcel shut him up by raising his hand.
"Why is Trina a suspect?" Klaus asked, his tone between somber and confusion.
"We have yet to obtain concrete proof that she had not followed them to kidnap Dustin after Ronnie and Denis left."
Klaus knit his brows together. "That sounds like an overblown assumption, no?"
"It is an assumption. But that is how we find clues; without assumption, we would have to check everything to even get any lead."
Klaus nodded somberly and asked, "Is there anything else?"
Marcel shook his head and said, "You were already clear. I only wanted to quench my curiosity."
"You shall leave then," Klaus muttered, unwilling to let this dangerous man be near any longer.
Marcel and White Hat rose from the sofa, and the former said, "My intuition tells me that we will meet very soon."
