Chapter 87: A Private Chat With Sarin

Hearing Trina’s voice, Klaus instantly came out of the spiral of confusion and emotions and stepped away from Sarin.

Seeing that, Sarin frowned deeply and mumbled, "What’s wrong?"

He looked at her and then sighed.

"Haah... I cannot do this."

She knit her brows together and asked, "Cannot do what?"

"Stop it," he warned.

She tilted her head, faint amusement in her eyes. "Stop what?"

He gritted his teeth together and turned his head toward Trina before he forced a smile and waved at her.

Trina quickened her steps and smiled widely.

Seeing the two of them, Sarin’s expression turned distasteful, and her lips opened to say something, but before she could, Trina stopped a few steps away and asked, "So? How do you know each other?"

Her voice was mostly playful, but there was a hint of suspicion and something else that neither of them could understand.

’For God’s sake,’ Klaus sighed inwardly and felt like faceplaming.

Then he glanced at Sarin and his lips parted to answer; however, as he was about to, Sarin stepped closer to him and said while leaning her head onto his arm, "He is my boyfriend."

Trina froze, and Klaus closed his eyes, raised his head toward the ceiling, and exhaled deeply.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked in a sharp tone.

Her expression turned confused, and she asked after tilting her head, "Doing what? I simply told her the truth."

She looked at Trina and smiled, "Trina is my best friend, and she deserves to know."

’Truth? When are you going to accept the actual truth?’ He thought but didn’t say it aloud.

He looked down at Trina and then shifted his gaze to Sarin before he said, "Stop lying to her."

She furrowed her brows. "Lying?"

A deep frown appeared on her face. "Why would I lie? Do you take me as a liar?"

"Yes, I do," he replied.

Sarin’s eyes widened, her expression darkened, and she stared at him speechlessly.

Seeing the two bicker, Trina blinked a few times, and then she asked in a low voice, "Is everything alright between you two?"

Sarin immediately wanted to shrug off Klaus’s previous statement, but he didn’t let her.

"There is nothing between us, not anymore at least. Whatever we had was in the past, and it would be great for her to realise that as early as possible."

Sarin froze at his words; her lips opened and closed a few times as she stared at him with trembling eyes.

Trina also frowned and moved closer to Sarin.

"Sarin? Are you okay?" She asked.

Sarin didn’t answer. How could she? The person for whom she had endured three years of separation was now telling her that she was no different than a stranger.

Trina held her and rubbed her back with an extremely worried expression on her face.

To Trina, Sarin was like a doll, and at the moment, it seemed like there were cracks across her, emanating from her heart.

To Klaus, though, she seemed more like a puppeteer, one who had found out that the puppet was no longer in her control.

For a while, silence descended between them.

Tears gathered at Sarin’s eyes, and then she rubbed them off with her arm before she looked at Trina and said, "Can you leave us alone for some time?"

Trina frowned and glanced at Klaus.

Klaus nodded. "I’ll call you."

Trina nodded and whispered into Sarin’s ear, "Take care of yourself."

Sarin smiled, and Trina glanced at the two of them before she turned around and left the place.

Now alone with Klaus, Sarin looked at him with a weak smile and said while gesturing at the room behind her, "Let’s talk inside."

Klaus glanced at the room. It was the very room she had been waiting inside to surprise him.

However, Klaus wasn’t just going to agree without putting down his want.

"What would I get for that?"

She blinked in utter confusion. She had expected him to deny and walk away, but instead he wanted her to give him something... that was new.

An amused glint crossed her sad eyes, and she asked, "What else do you want? My everything, and I am already yours."

He deliberately brushed past her words and said, "Let me think."

A thoughtful look appeared on his face as he pretended to act for a few seconds, then he said, "Give me your autograph. It should sell for a few dollars at least."

Her lips parted in exasperation, and she let out a chuckle. "An autograph? Is that really what you want?"

He nodded. "Yes, or you can forget about having a private talk."

She turned toward the room and said in a playful tone, "Alright, I’ll give it to you. I’ll give you as many as you want."

"Good."

The two of them stepped inside the room.

It was pretty empty, with equipment near the left and right walls and a table with two chairs on both sides by the front wall.

They shifted into the chairs, and just as Klaus sat down, he raised a hand and demanded, "Autograph first."

Sarin was completely baffled by his behavior, and she said while frowning, "I’ll give it to you."

"No talking then."

"Do you not trust me?"

He fell silent before he leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms before his chest, and muttered, "Go ahead."

Sarin turned her head to the doorway and asked in a voice too normal, "Do you like her?"

"Who?" He furrowed his brows.

She gazed at him and smiled. "You know who I am talking about."

He immediately understood that there was no point denying when she had already accepted it as truth.

"What if I do? Do you plan to make her life a living hell just like others?"

Sarin leaned forward on the table with eyes that seemed utterly confused. "What are you talking about? I would never do something li—"

"Jena, Risha, Mila. Do these names ring any bells?"

Sarin’s expression hardened.

He chuckled. "Of course they do. Those three were the ones I dated after the breakup with you."
