A young, familiar voice responded from the other side.

Klaus’s eyes shrank and then widened in recognition, and he mumbled in a low voice, "Carl, is that you?"

Klaus’s feet slowed down before he halted completely and switched the phone to his other ear in shock.

He asked, "What did you just say?"

"How...?" Klaus whispered in pure disbelief.

The three of them had planned to create a financial company or service that would take others’ money and purchase stocks from it in return for guaranteed profit.

The three of them had different involvement.

And Carl was to take care of the technical things, including the creation of the mysterious persona called The Maker.

He was to give The Maker an identity – a birthplace, a birth date, an age, and everything that would make him a legit person. Although The Maker never truly existed.

Klaus stayed silent for a while and then whispered, goosebumps rising all over his body.

"Are you saying that you have already created him...?"

The sound of crunching came from the other side as Carl answered,

He did that within just seventeen hours... is he really just a teenager?

Speechless, Klaus asked, "Where did you do that?"

Based on which state or agency he made the changes, they could still be tracked by the sharks of the stock market, and he couldn’t afford that happening yet.

Klaus’s eyes opened wide, and he muttered in a voice louder than intended, "The SSA! Are you kidding me?!"

He immediately lowered his voice and worriedly looked around to check if anyone heard him. To his fortune, no one except him was there.

Klaus furrowed his brows. "What are you talking about?"

"..." Klaus’s lips shut tightly.

Is he that good at reading people? I can see why Martin joined so easily.

I have to make sure to stay in his good books. He will be an even greater asset in the future.

He pondered over it for a few seconds, and his feet moved once again.

His colleague watched him leave the building with confused or flat expressions, with Mars clearly pissed by the previous altercation.

Some called out to him, but he ignored them, too absorbed in his thoughts to answer.

He stepped out of the building and whispered into the phone, "What I really want is—"

However, before he could continue, Carl cut him off.

The fuck you mean ’old man’?

He ignored the stupid, baseless jab and asked as he reached his bike, "Then what do you want?"

"Huh? What do you—"

Before he could finish, Carl hung up the call.

He stared at his phone with a dumbfounded expression and mumbled, "Kids nowadays have no respect for the elderly."

"Not like I am one of the elderly, obviously."

After half an hour, he sat in a chair with a newly purchased phone and a USB in his hand.

He turned his head to Carl and asked, "You sure it would work?"

Carl lowered his headphones and turned toward him with a deadpan expression.

"Are you seriously asking me whether what I made would fail or not?"

Klaus blinked and shrugged. "Duh."

Carl rolled his eyes and muttered, "That chip would disable everything that tracks you and replace all the software that can leave traces of The Marker’s presence in this world."

[Host, why have you returned to this godforsaken place?]

’Calm down. Can’t you see we are on good terms?’

[I cannot. I do not have eyes.]

’Right...’

"Put it in already," Carl said in an annoyed tone as he returned to his computer.

"Well, if you are so confident about it." He plugged the USB into the phone.

The next instant, the phone booted up, and instead of the system or the company logo, a bold M appeared at the center.

Soon the phone finished booting up.

"That’s all...?" He mumbled. It still looked the same as usual phones.

His gaze shifted to Carl, hoping to receive some kind of input, but he was too busy with whatever he was doing on his computer.

’How irresponsible.’ Klaus shook his head and unlocked the phone with a swipe.

A stunned look appeared on his face.

"Where are the other apps...?"

The phone had no applications except Calls, Messages, Team, and Stocks.

Instinctively, his finger glided toward Stocks, and the app opened.

*Welcome, Mr. Maker.*

Speechless and stunned, he mumbled, "How do I put my money in it?"

"I can do that for you," Carl said.

’What is this kid?’ Klaus furrowed his brows and asked while frowning, "How do you know so much stuff?"

Carl’s expression grimmed instantly, and his eyes darkened like he had remembered something sorrowful.

His fingers stopped. "I just do... do you want me to transfer the money or not?"

Although it was just for a few seconds, Klaus had still noticed the change in his mood.

’What was that?’

"Yeah. Transfer everything I have into Maker Finance’s account and then to this."

"You aren’t a complete idiot, huh?" Carl muttered as he followed Klaus’s words.

"Just because I am not as good as you doesn’t mean I am stupid!" Klaus snorted.

"Sure, that’s what everyone says."

A few moments later, he received the money.

*Mr. Maker*

*Balance: 98,701$*

’Hey system, you know what time it is, right?’

[I do not know what time it is, Host.]

’It’s time to make some money!’ He grinned widely and asked inwardly, ’Tell me the rise of Stephan Pharmaceuticals, Twinsten Alloys and Metals, Flamix Chemicals, Grandise Fashion and Cosmetics...’
