Chapter 31: Trina’s Secret
Where the fuck did that clown go?
Angered by the call, Klaus left the building in a hurry, and as he stepped out, Martin, who had been impatiently waiting outside, walked to him.
"What happened?" Martin asked worriedly.
Klaus continued toward his bike and said flatly, "Nothing. Just got some bullshit to deal with."
Martin furrowed his brows and asked while looking back, "What about the guards?"
"Go in and check on them," Klaus muttered as he sat on his bike.
"Wait!" Martin called out, but Klaus had already left the place.
Martin let out a troubled sigh and mumbled under his breath, "Why is he in such a hurry?"
With a frowning face, he walked into the building and stared at the eight guards lying on the ground with a stupefied expression.
"What the hell happened here...?"
Klaus’s bike cut through the traffic like a bullet.
[Host, why are you being so reckless?]
’If they called me, they must’ve already called for Trina,’ he answered inwardly, his jaw tight.
’I don’t want her to get into any trouble.’
[Host needs to calm down. It has to be a scheme by them to take your resources.]
’I am calm.’
Klaus disregarded the system’s worries, and after about fifteen minutes, his bike halted in the parking lot of the Golden City Police Station.
A few citizens were roaming around the station, with a guard smoking by the entrance.
Klaus ignored the guard and walked in with an irritated expression.
His eyes shifted all across the station and fell on Trina in her university uniform sitting in a chair beside Inspector Henry Frigid’s desk.
Her head was low, making it hard for him to see her face.
Beside her were Dustin’s two lackeys: Ronnie and Denis, and before them were a middle-aged woman and a teenage boy who was looking around with an excited look on his face as though he was at an amusement park.
Klaus walked over to the desk with furrowed eyebrows.
Several officers looked up as Klaus strode through the station. His expression alone was enough to make them wait for Inspector Henry to handle him.
Ronnie and Denis’s eyes widened upon seeing him; they pointed fingers at him and muttered, "He is the bastard who had a fight with Dustin at Flora Delight!"
The middle-aged woman turned her gaze to him at once and spewed furiously, "You demon!"
She rose to her feet and asked while glaring daggers at him, "Where is my son?! What did you do to him?!"
The teenage boy who was looking around in excitement suddenly burst into tears and called out, "Mommy!"
Hearing the commotion, Inspector Henry put down the file he was examining and stated, "Calm down, Mrs. Elten. It’s my job to question him, not yours."
Mrs. Elten shot him a furious look and muttered, "Then do your damn job."
She shifted back in her chair, held the hand of her son, and patted his head. "What’s wrong, Erick? Mommy is right here."
The inspector let out a tired sigh and finally looked at Klaus, only to find him looking at Trina, who still hadn’t raised her head.
"Are you Klaus Murrow?" Henry asked.
Klaus shifted his gaze to the inspector and said, "I am. Ask me whatever you want."
Meeting Klaus’s gaze, the inspector felt as though he was being judged by someone of a higher existence, and he quickly lowered his gaze to the file in his hand.
’What was that...?’ A drop of sweat rolled down his face.
"Ahem!" He cleared his throat and unknowingly asked in a respectful tone, "According to multiple witnesses, you had an altercation with Dustin Elten at Flora Delight about ten days ago, correct?"
"Yes," Klaus stated and continued, "He was using his father’s wealth and power to corner Trina for his own sick pleasure, so as a friend, I decided to step in for her."
"My Dustin would never do such a thing!" Mrs. Elten burst into anger, furious veins bulging on her forehead.
Klaus looked at her and stated in a flat tone, "Denial would only make it difficult for you."
"You bastard!" She stammered, her blood pressure rising with each of his words.
Inspector Henry shot her a strict look and said, "Mrs. Elten, if you fail to comply one more time, I would have no other option but to force you to leave the station."
Mrs. Elten looked at him with a disgusted look and muttered, "Would you be able to say the same once my husband returns?"
Henry’s face darkened slightly, and he mumbled, "I am sure Mr. Elten would understand my position."
"Hmph!" She snarled and looked away, sitting, patting her younger son, who was looking at Klaus with bright eyes.
’Is this guy stupid or something?’ Klaus furrowed his brows.
[Physical contact required for the checkup.]
’I didn’t mean it that way.’
He looked at Trina from the corner of his eye. She was sitting there like a statue, not even looking at him.
’She can at least look at me, no?’
"Did your altercation with Dustin turn physical?" Inspector Henry asked as he wrote down Klaus’s previous answer in the file.
"He did try to punch me, but he was too slow." He turned to Ronnie and Denis. "Then he left with these two; you can ask them if you want."
Ronnie and Denis’s faces turned pale.
Inspector Henry looked at them and muttered, "Are his words correct?"
They nodded and answered at the same time, "Yes."
"Mhm. You two said nothing about that. Stop hiding things, or it might become troublesome for you," Henry stated.
"W-We didn’t mean to."
The inspector nodded; he had heard those words more than he wanted.
"Are you aware of what happened there after you left?" Henry asked Klaus.
As the question slipped out of his lips, Klaus noticed Trina’s shoulders tremble, and he remarked inwardly, ’Something happened there after I left?’
He shook his head. "I don’t."
"So you don’t know that after you left Flora Delight, Dustin, Ronnie, and Denis once again met Trina and she knocked out Dustin?"
"What...?"
