Chapter 92: The Big Step
With this revelation, Klaus decided to once again meet Victor Frank.
However, he couldn’t do so today because on this very day, he planned to make the move that would decide everything.
He leaned back on the sofa and inhaled deeply as he rubbed his face.
"I will deal with this later," he said.
Then he pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed Carl’s number.
The phone buzzed for a few moments before Carl picked up, and the very next instant Carl asked,
"I did," Klaus answered.
Carl said while beaming on the other side.
Klaus smiled faintly at the sudden change in his behavior and tone, and he said, "Before that... you remember what day it is today, right?"
Klaus looked at the phone with a deadpan expression and wondered if he could really leave such a task.
His mind instantly told him that he could. Still, he couldn’t help but worry. The task was just that important.
"It’s good that you do," Klaus mumbled and then asked, "How much are we investing?"
Carl answered.
’Two millions...’ Klaus repeated inwardly, and a thoughtful expression appeared on his face. ’That would give us at most fifteen millions, but that won’t be enough for my future investments.’
He moved his gaze to Martin’s nameplate placed on the desk, and a determined look appeared on his face.
’That was why I made this company in the first place. With continuous investments from our customers, we would have flowing money, and then we can use that for ourselves...’
The issue with investing was that he had to put away a chunk of money that he could use for himself, and only when he found buyers could he actually gain from it.
He had also thought about doing the lottery, but even lotteries had a limit, and he wanted to reach the limitless.
If he wanted to build a new world, he first needed to be free of the shackles of the current one.
Money was one such shackle. The pillars were still not big enough to actually hold the weight on their own, so he had to be careful about everything he did.
His careful nature was the reason why he still hadn’t used his stat points.
With the level-up he did, the system told him that once he found mana, the remaining effect would be applied. But what if it was too much for his body, mind, or anything else? He believed that it was better to prepare for the future by collecting the stats points instead of using them right away.
In all honesty, he didn’t even need them right now.
Klaus was already strong enough to turn rock into dust, bend iron or steel like aluminum foil, run past the fastest cars, all that without a single drop of sweat.
What his real fear was was other people who were like him and where mana was.
He guessed that the seven calamities may hold a clue to the latter, and for now he didn’t need to worry about the former because they had long since decided to keep themselves hidden from the public.
Carl’s voice drifted into his ear.
He brought the phone closer to his mouth and said, "I leave it to you, so make sure nothing goes wrong. Can I trust you, Carl?"
On the other hand, Carl, who was sitting in his usual spot, furrowed his brows and said, "Of course you can."
Klaus said and hung up the call.
Klaus wasn’t doing it himself because the people behind the fabricated rise would try to trace the purchases back to the buyer.
Even though the purchase would in no way be related to them, they could still cause them future trouble by finding the fake identity of Leo Maker, so Carl needed to create obstacles and data walls that would keep them from finding out anything.
Carl himself didn’t care much about that, but Klaus did.
According to him, if the stock market learns about the faceless Leo Maker, everyone would try to find them.
Because when the market starts to tremble, the world moves.
Carl leaned back in his chair and pulled a packet of potato chips from the drawer under his desk and tore it up before he picked a chip and ate it.
"*crunch* he is worrying too *crunch* much. I am Carl Snitzer, rewarded with knowledge of the most brilliant mind on the planet *crunch* there’s no way I can fail at something as mundane as this."
He placed the packet beside his keyboard and wiped his hands using the hand towel before he leaned forward on the keyboard and changed the tab on the computer to the stock market.
His eyes moved across the screen, calculating everything that was written there, then he mumbled, "Why is there a sudden rise in Morbieus Techs? They haven’t released a new product, nor have they had any new investment..."
He narrowed his eyes, and he mumbled, "Are they the new chosen paragon of technology?"
He leaned forward even further and added, "Did they find one already?"
Then he shook his head. "No, it can’t be. It’s not easy to find a new Receiver that quickly."
"It must be for a different reason."
He cracked his fingers by locking them together and said, "Whatever, I got my own shit to do."
Then he moved to the companies that were the targets and gave them a bored look as he quickly made the purchases.
The total balance, which had been nearly two million, most of which was from Klaus and some from Martin, instantly fell to a mere two dollars.
And the next instant, a red warning notification appeared on the corner of the monitor.
