Chapter 105

"I am tired of your nonsense... I will slice you apart one limb at a time," Guan Xiu said venomously as she charged straight at Li Jie, who also rushed forward without hesitation.

The two immediately started exchanging moves at an extremely fast pace. Li Jie managed to dodge many of her strikes solely because of the Phantom Strike Art, but as time went by, it soon became clear: his body was starting to fail him.

After all, it still didn’t matter that he was fast, skillful, and highly tactical; his opponent was simply that much stronger than him, and it wasn’t even a close gap but a massive one. The more blows he deflected, the more shockwaves of refined qi slammed into his body, causing his internal injuries to worsen.

But that wasn’t even the worst part. Several fresh slashes appeared across his body every few seconds, wounds that neither his evasions nor his deflections had been able to prevent. And perhaps the biggest reason why he knew he couldn’t win... he was almost out of qi.

Using Flash Step alone consumed a tremendous amount of qi, but as if that wasn’t enough, he had been using it together with the remaining three forms of the Phantom Strike Art that he had mastered.

The four forms combined, coupled with the other combat arts he had been using without rest in order to keep up with Guan Xiu’s level of combat, were draining his qi at an alarming pace.

Soon... very soon... all of his qi beads would be completely dried up. And when that time came, he would no longer have the strength to continue fighting.

Maybe if he had been dealing enough damage to truly threaten his opponent, then perhaps he could simply try to outlast her, but unfortunately for him, that wasn’t what was happening; she only had a few scratches on her body, nothing that could make her lose.

The battle between the two continued as the crowd watched with rapt attention, completely captivated by the showdown unfolding before them. As the battle gradually slowed down, however, they could all see that Li Jie was steadily losing his edge.

As time passed, it became clearer and clearer, to the point where even the ordinary spectators could tell what was happening. At that very moment, everyone knew the outcome of this battle... and they didn’t like it. Li Jie... would lose.

Soon after another brutal exchange, Li Jie’s qi beads finally ran dry. His movements slowed. A bladed fan sliced across his chest, opening another deep wound before a spinning kick slammed into him, sending him rolling across the ground, leaving a long trail of blood in his wake.

Guan Xiu stood there, still feeling unsatisfied. She immediately rushed forward, intending to chop Li Jie’s head off after all the humiliation he had made her suffer. But before she could reach him, the referee appeared between them and stopped her with a cold glare.

"The rules of the tournament are not to be broken." As unwilling as she was, Guan Xiu knew she was no match for the referee. With an unwilling snort, she turned around and walked back. "Guan Xiu versus Li Jie... the battle has ended. Guan Xiu wins!"

That made two candidates from the Li Clan already eliminated. Only two remained. The question now was... would the Li Clan finally claim a victory, or would they suffer another defeat as well? The crowd’s cheers weren’t as lively as before.

They looked at Li Jie, who was carried over and laid beside his younger brother after he had finally passed out as well. He was immediately treated by the physicians, although his injuries weren’t nearly as severe as his brother’s. Li Jie had truly tried; everyone present believed that.

If not for the overwhelming gap in power, there was no need to wonder what would have happened; they all knew the answer. Li Jie would have won. "Sister Xiu... he roughed you up a bit, didn’t he?" Guan Xueyi asked with an innocent expression. Guan Xiu simply shook her head.

"No... not really. I underestimated him too much and suffered because of it." Guan Xueyi raised an eyebrow. "Still... isn’t it surprising to you that you almost lost to someone that weak?" She shook her head. "I have to say... I’m disappointed."

Seeing the judging gazes of the others, Guan Xiu simply looked away. How was she supposed to know that Li Jie would perform that well against someone so much stronger than himself? If she had known, she definitely wouldn’t have fooled around at the beginning.

The disappointment on Guan Xueyi’s face soon faded as she couldn’t help but muse to herself: *Sincerely... he is strong, so I can understand why you had difficulty. His brother and he have actually managed to rouse my interest.

I can’t wait to see just how strong the Battle Princess of the Li Clan truly is. As the number one genius of the Li Clan... surely she must possess some remarkable feats, right?* She licked her lips as she looked toward Yuexin as if she wanted to devour her. *I can’t wait,* she thought.

Meanwhile, at the Li Clan’s seats, Li Feng slowly stood up. Finally... it was the Li Clan’s turn to challenge their opponents. Li Feng’s gaze was cold. Utterly cold. As he walked onto the stage, his expression remained completely emotionless.

They were being targeted; that much was crystal clear, and he hated it. They were all at much higher cultivation realms, and yet they had deliberately chosen to gang up on those weaker than themselves.

They were all despicable, and he would make them regret that decision. With that, he pulled out a strip of black cloth from his pocket and slowly tied it over his eyes. He would be holding nothing back.

"Xie... Jie... don’t worry. I will avenge you two. Leave everything to me." With that, he exhaled softly before turning toward the Guan Clan. "Guan Xiu... come back onto the stage," he said calmly.
