Chapter 464 - 463: Why Bother Rowing Ourselves?

Just because Yi Tianyun had an idea didn’t mean the others did. They had never considered capturing a Netherwater Shark as a pet. They weren’t Beast Tamers, so the thought had never crossed their minds.

But when they saw Yi Tianyun wasn’t even helping to row, they were all momentarily stunned. Leng Hu couldn’t help but curse, "Kid, what are you doing? Hurry up and row! There’s no end to these Netherwater Sharks! More and more will just keep coming!"

Leng Hu wasn’t exaggerating. The number of Netherwater Sharks around them was growing. Their pitch-black bodies emerged from the Netherwater, already in an attack posture, preparing to lunge at them. As soon as they smelled blood, they began surfacing one after another.

They were all staring intently at the raft, eyeing it like prey, ready to lunge the moment they took aim.

Yet Yi Tianyun still wasn’t rowing. The other two teams were paddling frantically, each trying to outpace the other, desperate to escape.

"That’s right, hurry up and row!" Yang Zhiwen couldn’t help but add. He was worried sick, but Yi Tianyun looked like he was scared stiff, standing there completely motionless.

Leng Hu and Ren Liangchen were in charge of fending off the Netherwater Sharks, leaving the rowing to Yi Tianyun and Yang Zhiwen, so they couldn’t go very fast. But now, with only Yang Zhiwen rowing, their speed was even slower; they were barely inching forward.

"Hahaha! Good thing I didn’t take that idiot. He’s scared stiff!" When Liu Long noticed their predicament, he couldn’t help but laugh, inwardly relieved that Yi Tianyun hadn’t joined their team. Otherwise, they’d be stuck with a burden.

The members of the other team couldn’t help but shoot them mocking looks, thinking how pathetic their group was. Did they really have to get stuck with an idiot who freezes up at the sight of so many Netherwater Sharks?

"Kid, what are you thinking about?" Leng Hu shouted, trying to snap him out of it. "Hurry up and row! Don’t be afraid, we’ll hold them off!"

Leng Hu didn’t fly into a rage or kick him into the water. Instead, he tried to offer a few words of comfort, telling Yi Tianyun not to panic.

"Leng, don’t worry. I’m not afraid," Yi Tianyun said with a faint smile. "I was just waiting for this opportunity. For these Netherwater Sharks to get closer. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had a chance."

"What?" They were baffled, with no idea what Yi Tianyun was talking about.

"You all just stay here and watch." With that, Yi Tianyun tossed out a raft, leaped onto it, and stood alone amidst the sharks.

This made Liu Long laugh until tears streamed down his face. "That idiot! Charging out there all by himself? Is he trying to get himself killed? Well, this works out. Let him draw all the Netherwater Sharks over. What a bunch of fools!"

After he spoke, he sliced a nearby Netherwater Shark in two and tossed its corpse in Yi Tianyun’s direction. The thick stench of blood spread through the water, drawing even more Netherwater Sharks.

This act enraged Ren Liangchen and his team. Weren’t they trying to get them killed?

"Liu Long, what are you doing!" Ren Liangchen roared.

"Nothing much! You all enjoy the party. We’ll be on our way!" Liu Long cackled and departed with a swagger.

"Liu Long, if I ever catch up to you, I’ll make sure you die a miserable death!" Ren Liangchen was absolutely livid. He never expected to be so viciously backstabbed at such a critical moment.

However, their attention wasn’t on Liu Long for the moment, but on Yi Tianyun.

Yi Tianyun’s solo leap left Leng Hu and the others dumbfounded. It was bad enough that he wasn’t rowing, but now he was running off to play the hero?

"You kid, stop trying to be a hero! Get back here right now! We can handle them!" Leng Hu raised his giant axe, but just as he prepared to go and help, a Netherwater Shark lunged at Yi Tianyun.

"Leng, just stay put! Trust me!"

A glint flashed in Yi Tianyun’s eyes as a greatsword—a Soul Artifact—instantly appeared in his hand. He decided not to take out a Sacred Artifact-level weapon to avoid scaring them. Besides, its power was too great; it would make it hard to Capture a Netherwater Shark.

He then swung the greatsword, swatting the lunging Netherwater Shark down onto the raft. The raft shook violently under the creature’s immense weight. It was a good thing he was alone, otherwise the raft couldn’t have supported such a heavy beast.

"GGRRRAAAH!"

The Netherwater Shark roared. The attack hadn’t injured it at all; it was just a simple swat that left it without a scratch.

"What kind of attack was that? Has he not eaten today? He can’t even scratch the Netherwater Shark. Ren Liangchen, you sure know how to pick your teammates!" With so many Netherwater Sharks drawn away, Liu Long’s group felt the pressure lift, making their situation incredibly easy.

Every single one of them started laughing, thinking it was great to have an idiot around. His selfless sacrifice was letting them get away smoothly. How could they not be happy about that?

"Liu, it’s a good thing you didn’t bring him along. We would’ve been screwed!"

"Exactly. It’s best not to take on idiots like that. They’ll only drag you down."

"Hehe, with them as bait, we’ll reach the Netherworld without a hitch!"

They were all ecstatic, feeling like Yi Tianyun was their lucky star!

Just as everyone was writing Yi Tianyun off as an idiot, he stretched out his hand, a sharp light flashing in his eyes. "Capture!"

A beam of light instantly enveloped the Netherwater Shark. A moment later, a pleasant sound echoed in his mind.

"Ding! Successfully captured the Netherwater Shark. Gained 300,000 Experience Points, 300 points of Capture Mastery Proficiency!"

He captured the Netherwater Shark with no difficulty at all. Not only was the shark’s level high, but more importantly, his own cultivation was much higher, which drastically increased the success rate.

"Get in the water," Yi Tianyun commanded the Netherwater Shark. The shark immediately leaped into the water and sank to the bottom of the river.

The onlookers felt something was off. Shouldn’t the Netherwater Shark have attacked again? Why did it jump back into the water so obediently?

Another Netherwater Shark lunged, only to be swatted down onto the raft by Yi Tianyun. He repeated the process, taming this shark as well and sending it into the water to wait.

Leng Hu and his teammates exchanged glances, completely bewildered. They could see that Yi Tianyun was handling the Netherwater Sharks with ease, yet for some reason, he wasn’t injuring them at all.

"HSSS!"

This time, two Netherwater Sharks lunged at him. Yi Tianyun’s gaze turned cold. He swung his greatsword in a flash. One shark was sliced in two and fell into the water, while the other was swatted down onto the raft.

The move was lightning-fast. Most people only saw an afterimage, unable to comprehend what had happened. For a moment, everyone was stunned, wondering if their eyes were deceiving them.

"Capture!"

Yi Tianyun used his Capture Technique again, successfully capturing the third Netherwater Shark. He then leaped from his small raft back to the main one.

"Sorry to worry you. We can leave now," Yi Tianyun said with an easy smile, looking completely relaxed.

"Good kid, you’re pretty strong! Well then, let’s hurry and row..." Leng Hu immediately handed Yi Tianyun an oar.

"No, we don’t need to row." Yi Tianyun pointed forward. Three Netherwater Sharks surfaced in front of the raft, looking perfectly docile. "We’ll let these three pull our raft. Why should we bother rowing?"

At the sight of the three incredibly docile Netherwater Sharks, they were dumbfounded. Liu Long and his team were equally stunned.
