Chapter 936
Chapter 936
Anton’s conversation with his batchmates in Vernatu’s Tower revolved around the fact that each of the new members would have their own teacher.
“I commend that system. Personalized teaching means we’ll be able to learn what we need to become effective travelers,” one of them said, and almost everyone agreed with him.
“It’s only possible because so few new members are being accepted,” another added. In truth, Anton agreed with that as well.
When they learned that Anton was a direct student of the tower’s master, they began looking at him differently.
It was well known that a new member being accepted as a direct student by a Master Traveler meant that their potential was extraordinary.
When they learned that Anton had reached the Supreme Rank in wizardry at the young age of twenty, he could see the understanding in his batchmates’ eyes. They now understood why Master Vernatu had accepted him as a direct student. The fact that Anton had already regained his rank within a few hours of the rebirth process was another testament to his capabilities.
Some of his batchmates had already begun learning from the teachers assigned to them, but Anton was correct in his assumption that not needing to learn offensive and defensive spells would allow him to hasten his study of the core spells that travelers needed to advance in rank.
What Anton liked about his batchmates was their diversity. They all came from different continents and had different genders, races, and ages. Anton was startled to discover that some of them were even older than he had expected. A few were already in their sixties.
He knew, however, that age did not matter that much when it came to wizards. The first couple of hundred years of life were still considered young, and travelers in particular were said to be extremely long-lived. Rumors abounded that some Grandmaster Travelers counted their ages in eons.
Surprisingly, Anton wasn’t the youngest member. That honor belonged to a sixteen-year-old girl named Maura.
He understood why Maura had become a member when he learned that she was a nepo baby. Both of her parents were travelers and members of Vernatu’s Tower.
Anton befriended Maura because, more than likely, her knowledge of the organization would be more extensive since she had grown up around travelers and their organization.
When he asked Maura about it, however, Anton learned that he was mistaken. Since non-members were not allowed inside the organization, even if they were family members of members, she had grown up outside the organization, albeit near Traveler’s Haven.
She had, however, grown up in an affluent household. Both of her parents were Adept Travelers who had reached the Invincible Rank in wizardry.
Anton admitted to Maura that he wanted to become her friend because of her knowledge as a local and as the daughter of powerful travelers.
“What can you offer in return for my knowledge?” Maura asked with a touch of haughtiness, probably stemming from being the daughter of wealthy and powerful wizards.
“Do you know about movies?” Anton asked.
“Is that the new thing that recently arrived? It’s basically a theater play from a different dimension, and according to the rumors, anyone who watches one would consider it the best form of entertainment,” one of Anton’s batchmates said.
Anton couldn’t speak with Maura alone since she was in the middle of a group, and it would have been awkward to invite her somewhere by herself. That meant a few of his batchmates were listening in.
Most of them found it interesting that Anton had straightforwardly told Maura that he wanted to be her friend for the purpose of learning more about Traveler’s Haven and Remuth from the perspective of someone who had grown up there and was the child of travelers.
“Why did you ask about it? I was interested in them, but the people who introduced them stopped showing them because they were under a magical contract that eventually ended. They only managed to show a few of the movies before the items containing the recordings were forcefully erased by the magic contract,” Maura said.
“Well, the movies came from my family. Our bloodline magic allows us to open a window to a dimension containing a world that specializes in creating a form of theater art. They had been doing it even though their world didn’t have magic. Thanks to the impressive imagination of their artists, the movies and shows they created covered many different genres.
“Some of them are as simple as love stories that we can also find in our local theaters, while others are filled with special effects, such as battles between gods or powerful wizards. They managed to replicate those scenes using pure technology.
“Using the window we had access to, we managed to acquire those movies. We then built successful businesses called cinemas, which made our family a huge fortune in Ormunda. In return for your knowledge as a local of Remuth and as the daughter of travelers, I’ll let you watch some of the movies,” Anton said.
“Are your movies really that great? I’ve seen some of the recordings my parents made during their travels, and although they intrigued me, once you watched them for hours, there eventually came a point when you became bored,” Maura said.
“It’s different. I’m guessing your parents’ recordings were intended to capture intelligence and serve as a resource for increasing knowledge. Movies, on the other hand, exist solely to entertain,” Anton replied.
“Then let’s watch a movie right now,” Maura requested.
“Sure. What kind of story do you want?” Anton asked.
“Anything is fine as long as it’s impressive,” Maura answered.
Anton thought that the best film to impress his new batchmates would be Avatar. Its special effects and storyline had already proven capable of impressing the locals. However, he considered Maura’s age. She was a sixteen-year-old girl who had grown up surrounded by powerful wizards.
He thought that a simple, touching love story would probably impress her more.
He didn’t waste any time and announced to all his batchmates that they were going to watch a film right then and there.
Impressively, almost all of them had heard about movies, but none had actually seen one. After a few minutes of preparation, everyone was seated facing one of the walls in the room they were in, with a white blanket hung over it to serve as a screen.
Once everything was ready, Anton stood in front of them and announced that the film was set in a world where magic was nonexistent.
That was all he said about the movie. If he elaborated and told them that it was, at its core, a love story, it might turn some of them off.
He did tell them that the movie would last three hours and fifteen minutes, so before they started watching, everyone should prepare themselves. They went to the bathroom, attended to their other needs, and prepared snacks and drinks they could enjoy while watching.

All of the novice travelers were intrigued simply because the movie came from another dimension. As travelers, their ultimate goal was to gain the ability to travel to different dimensions. Seeing something that portrayed the lives of people from another dimension was something they believed could help them in the long run, especially after Anton told them that the movie was based on a true story.
Once everyone was ready, Anton started the movie.
For the next few hours, everyone watched one of the best romance films ever created on Earth.
Anton was sure that, at the very least, the women in the audience would love the movie, and he was confident that Maura would become enamored with it as well.
Since Anton had seen the film many times, he concentrated on watching the reactions of the future travelers.
So far, he wasn’t disappointed.
Everyone was riveted to the screen, and they looked as though they were thoroughly enjoying the movie.
