Anton was extremely delighted by how exotic everything was near the port. He saw that Paul and Eric were equally fascinated, even though they had already seen this place before when their family migrated from Izmorta to the Gale Continent in search of wealth.
All of the facilities, such as the shops, residences, and almost every building, were made from leaves and wood, resembling the old seaside villages one could find anywhere in the world. Anton imagined that places like Hawaii on Earth might have looked similar hundreds of years ago.
However, he knew that once they left the port and reached the city proper, the buildings would eventually resemble the cities found in Osmunda or New Drennor.
Because of that, Flinx decided to explore the areas near the beach first. He wanted to experience the unique lifestyle of the people living near the shore. He was excited to see that the locals were even wearing costumes made from natural materials, such as leaves and bark. Both men and women wore very little clothing. He knew, however, that these outfits were only costumes and were probably worn by the locals to entertain travelers.
Anton almost laughed out loud when he saw Paul and Eric nearly drooling at the sight of the beautiful women wearing such revealing outfits.
The three were still near the beach, close to the port where the Melinda was supposed to berth. Because of that, they could see the preparations the locals were making to welcome the ship. Performers and dancers were getting ready, and Anton imagined that once the ship arrived, they would begin performing to greet the visitors.
The various shops were lively, and the three young men could see the merchants working hard as they prepared their products. They could see the excitement on the merchants’ faces because they knew that thousands of new customers would soon arrive. These travelers were eager to see something new and would probably spend large amounts of their savings simply to relieve the boredom they had experienced while crossing the ocean.
Since the ship would remain on Rokutua for three days, Anton decided to rent a room on the island. However, he chose an inn near the beach because the ones farther inland already had the regular buildings one could see anywhere else. He wanted to remain close to the area where everything still felt exotic.
The inn he chose was a large, two-story building made from unique materials. Anton rented one of the more expensive suites for the entire three days and did not mind paying the exorbitant price charged by the innkeeper.
The suite contained two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, as well as a large living room.
When Anton asked if Paul and Eric would also rent a room at the inn, they immediately refused. They told him that they could not waste coins on such things and would simply return to the ship to rest. Since the second bedroom would remain empty, Anton told the two that they could use it during their stay on the island, which made both of them happy.
Like any ordinary young men, they preferred being away from their families so they could engage in questionable activities without their parents watching them.
“Don’t you two feel guilty staying here while your families remain on the ship during the stop?” Anton asked.
The two simply shrugged.
After around three hours, Anton, Paul, and Eric had explored everything near the beach, including the different shops, entertainment venues, taverns, restaurants, and other places they could find. They had also tasted several street foods that were now being sold along the beach while waiting for the arrival of the Melinda.
Anton was about to head inland so he could begin his plan of exploring the entire island, but Paul and Eric asked him to wait until the ship arrived. It was only a few minutes away, and they wanted to inform their families that they were safe since, more than likely, their families had already heard from others that they had flown to the island with Anton several hours earlier.
“Fine by me. I’ll rest in my room and wait for you to return. Just knock on my door once you’re back.”
Paul and Eric left for the port to wait for the ship’s arrival. After lying down on the comfortable bed for a few minutes, Anton quickly grew bored and decided to leave the inn to continue exploring the nearby areas.
He wandered around, and after several minutes, he arrived at a school for children. Several classes were ongoing, but when Anton looked through the windows, he noticed that the students were not paying attention to their teachers.
He understood why. Everyone already knew that the Melinda was about to arrive. The children were excited to see the visitors, especially since some of them were merchants who would likely bring exotic items from distant lands.
Anton was suddenly inspired to contribute to the excitement surrounding the ship’s arrival. He went to a nearby grove of trees and collected several branches until he had around one hundred of them. Then, he began creating wands that could release a very mild water arrow.
When someone was hit by the water arrow, it would feel like being sprayed by a toy water gun. Each wand contained around two hundred shots, and after that, it would disintegrate. Anton planned to sell the wands to the children for a tiny amount of money so they could have a memorable experience from the Melinda’s visit.
Thankfully, he only needed two to three minutes to complete each wand. Soon, he had finished creating one hundred of them.
He went back to the area where the ship was supposed to berth and saw that the Melinda had finally arrived.
The passengers began disembarking in an orderly manner. Several performances had already started, with dancers suddenly appearing to entertain the arriving tourists.
Anton was amazed at how quickly everything moved. He followed the passengers who were known to be merchants. They were guided to a designated area where they could set up shops for the locals to visit and purchase goods. These merchants focused on small-scale trading, while those who planned to conduct large-scale business, including the ship itself, were guided somewhere else.
Anton decided to join in on the fun and approached a harried-looking islander to ask where he could set up a stall.
When the man asked what he planned to sell, Anton simply replied that he was selling toys.
The man only told him that he could set up anywhere.
Anton chose an inconspicuous location and placed a table there. He covered it with a nice-looking cloth before laying out the toy water-arrow wands he had created.
Then, he wrote a large sign stating that the wands could only be purchased by local children ten years old and below for one copper coin, and each child could only buy one.
After finishing the sign, he placed it prominently on the table and waited.
As expected, the first person to approach him was Olemena.
“What are you doing, Supreme Sunders?” the Invincible Rank female wizard asked.
“While I was exploring, I saw some local children at a nearby school and decided to sell them toy wands. The wands release a mild water arrow that can drench the target, but nothing more. They aren’t dangerous. In fact, the water from the wand even has mild rejuvenating properties.”
Anton handed one of the wands to Invincible Olemena.
The female wizard tested the wand and casually aimed it at one of her secretaries. The person was instantly drenched by the water that shot out from the toy wand.
Olemena then cast some kind of spell.
“It’s an identification spell that determines the properties of the water released by the wand. You’re right, Supreme Sunders. The water does have rejuvenating properties, but they are so mild that they would barely be noticeable. How many water arrows can the wand release?”
“About two hundred. After that, the wand will disintegrate,” Anton answered.
Olemena only shook her head and commented that Anton was still such a child before leaving, which only made him smile.
