For the next few hours, Anton and the other young people spent their time in the temporary marketplace assigned to the loose merchants aboard the ship, Melinda. The local children kept returning to Anton, bringing branches with them so he could create more toy wands of water arrows. The children were ecstatic about playing as wizards, shooting water at each other using Anton’s toy wands.
All the children ended up soaked, but since it was a hot afternoon, Anton thought it was probably fine for them to stay wet for several hours. Besides, the water produced by the toy wands of water arrows was mana water, which had mild rejuvenating properties. He assumed that the children wouldn’t get sick from being drenched.
Still, after around four hours, Anton informed the children that he was done for the day and would no longer be selling toy wands. He advised them to save their wands for important moments of play since he wouldn’t be renewing them.
Anton was slightly amused when he noticed that Paul, Eric, and all the other young people in their group had hidden away a toy wand of water arrows. He knew they intended to treat the wands as a source of drinking water in case of an emergency.
While they were spending time in the marketplace, Anton’s friends asked him what kinds of magic items he could create. He gave examples such as his Frozen Orb Air Conditioner, Fire Wall Stove, Fire Bolt Lamp, Tablet of Defensive Spells, and Tablet of Support Spells.
He also explained the functions of the magic items he could create.
When Paul asked what spells were contained inside the tablets, Anton listed all the spells, along with their descriptions and effects.
“Why do you want to go to Izmorta and start over?! With your abilities, you can live as a wealthy wizard anywhere you want!” Paul exclaimed.
“I already told you my reason. I want to learn how to travel between dimensions, and based on my limited research, the Gale Continent wouldn’t be able to provide the knowledge I need for that. I could be wrong—in fact, I probably am—but instead of joining an academy in Ormunda and hoping to gain the knowledge I seek, I decided to search for it elsewhere. It’s also because I want to explore the world. Besides, based on the brief research I conducted, the Izmortans are more knowledgeable when it comes to interdimensional travel,” Anton explained.
After that, Anton stored the table he had used as his stall in his inventory and decided to explore the island. Paul and Eric wanted to accompany him, but unfortunately for them and all the other young men and women who had been spending time with him, their families had called them back to help sell items to the locals and purchase supplies they wanted to have while staying on the island.
Anton laughed when he heard Paul and Eric complaining to their fathers that accompanying him on his exploration of the island was their responsibility. Their fathers ignored their complaints and still ordered them to help their families. The two young men had no choice but to obey, so Anton left alone.
He began walking toward the center of the island, but when he arrived, he was slightly disappointed. The city there looked no different from any other city found in the kingdoms of the Gale Continent. Apparently, the more interesting and exotic sights were located near the beach and port, and since Anton had already thoroughly explored those areas, there was nothing left except to move further inland.
Anton realized that he wouldn’t be able to explore the entire island simply by walking, so he decided to cast an Invisibility spell, one of the standard magic spells he had memorized. After that, he used his Sorceress Telekinesis spell to fly. He planned to enter the lush jungle covering the island.
He believed he wouldn’t encounter anything capable of threatening his life since his physical and magical defenses were considerable.
Anton already had experience navigating forests after exploring the Northern Forest in the Gale Continent. That forest had been genuinely dangerous, yet he managed to explore it without too many problems. Because of that experience, he was confident that he could also explore the jungle he saw in the distance.
The jungle was lush and humid, filled with dangerous things that could be fatal to ordinary people, such as poisonous plants and venomous animals. Whenever he discovered something interesting, whether flora or fauna, he stopped to observe it, just as he had done while exploring the Northern Forest.
Whenever he found something edible, such as fruits and vegetables, or animals like wild boars, pheasants, deer, and others, he would store the plants in his inventory, hunt one of the animals, and store the meat as well.
Anton enjoyed exploring the jungle so much that he lost track of time. The only reason he stopped was because everything suddenly became pitch black. Night had fallen, and instead of gradually becoming darker, it was as if someone had switched off the lights instantly.
He simply flew upward and saw the port city in the distance. He flew toward it and followed the coastline until he reached the port.
Paul and Eric were waiting for him in the rented suite.
“What took you so long? I’m starving!” Eric complained.
“Then why didn’t you eat?”
“We were waiting for you to treat us,” Paul said with a smile.
Anton only shook his head, and the three of them searched for a restaurant where they could eat dinner.
While they were eating, Anton asked the two again if they didn’t feel guilty about leaving their families behind to spend time with him. They would be living in comfort while staying with him, while their families remained on the ship and ate the same basic food to save coins.
Both Paul and Eric simply shrugged as they continued eating the delicately spiced beef served by one of the waiters.
During the meal, Anton told them about the results of his exploration. The two young men were shocked when they learned that Anton had entered an extremely dangerous jungle. The locals had warned the ship’s passengers never to enter it because anyone who did was almost guaranteed to die.
“Something like that doesn’t apply to a supreme wizard like me,” Anton casually told them.
“I keep forgetting that you’re an extremely powerful wizard,” Paul said while shaking his head.
“It’s because he acts just like us. Like a normal young man,” Eric said with his mouth full of food.
Anton then told them about his previous experience exploring dangerous forests. He described the things he had discovered in the Northern Forest, and the two became fascinated by all the magical things Anton had encountered in that distant place.
He then told Paul and Eric about the things he saw inside the jungle of Rokutua. He made them understand that ordinary people would never have been able to survive there because the number of poisonous plants and dangerous animals was countless.
He specifically mentioned this because he noticed that Paul and Eric were interested in exploring the jungle with him.
At the very least, after hearing his description, their desire to see the jungle disappeared.
The three of them did plan to explore the city in the center of Rokutua, where they intended to visit all the entertainment venues the island had to offer.
“Didn’t your families need your help?” Anton asked.
“They understand that we need to prioritize our relationship with you. A connection with a powerful supreme wizard is something everyone wants to nurture,” Paul admitted.
